Between the Towans
Finding Love Where the Towans Meet the Sea

Iris Nansloe has spent years hiding behind routines and sand dunes. Housekeeper for the Dune Lodges on Cornwall’s windswept coast, her life is shaped by quiet mornings, salty surf, and the ever-growing collection of sea glass she transforms into secret art. Love? That belonged to her grandparents' generation—a kind that lasted. A kind she no longer believes in.

When Rafi Cyrillian, a burnt-out London photographer with a bruised heart, checks into the lodges for the summer, neither expects their worlds to collide. She’s guarded and grounded. He’s adrift and carrying secrets. But amid the golden sands of the Towans and the rhythm of the tide, something gentle begins to form between them—hesitant, healing, and real.

As Iris slowly shares the art she’s never shown and Rafi begins to see beauty again through his lens, both must confront the truths they’ve buried and the pasts they’ve tried to outrun.

Set against the raw beauty of the Cornish coast, Between the Towans is a story of second chances, quiet courage, and finding love where you least expect it—between the waves, the dunes, and one unforgettable summer.

Cornwall has always been home. Its wild coastlines, hidden coves, and windswept Towans appear again and again in my stories. I have a deep love of the sea — from bodyboarding and exploring new beaches to wandering through the small towns and villages that surround them. When I’m not writing or teaching, you’ll usually find me tucked up with a cream tea and a good book, enjoying the slower pace and charm that inspire so much of my work.
I spent more than twenty-five years as a teacher and school leader and am now completing my Master’s in Educational Psychology. Today, I combine my two passions — education and storytelling — as both an author and the owner of a tuition business supporting students across Cornwall and Devon. Writing lets me capture the landscapes and voices of my home while also shining a light on the children and young people who deserve to be seen and heard.
All of my novels and children’s books are rooted in Cornwall — its beauty, its sense of community, and its rugged coastline.
Between the Towans is my most successful title to date: a contemporary, slow-burn romance set on Cornwall’s beaches that explores themes of second chances, healing, and unexpected love. It reached No. 3 in Amazon’s Love Triangle Fiction category and has been praised for its vivid sense of place and heartfelt characters. The sequel, Beneath the Towans’ Sky, will be released later this year.
Alongside adult fiction, I write the Stuff children’s series, which focuses on neurodivergent characters and their everyday experiences. Filled with humour, honesty, and compassion, these stories help young readers feel seen and understood. Stuff I Can’t Say Out Loud reached No. 53 in Amazon’s Children with Disabilities category, and Stuff That Won’t Stay Still continues to champion ADHD awareness. The next book, Stuff That Has to Be Just Right, centres on autism, sensory overwhelm, and the quiet power of being understood — and will also be published later this year.

Between the Towans is a tender, atmospheric romance that feels as soothing and powerful as the Cornish tide itself. Bren Moore beautifully captures the windswept magic of the coast while telling a heartfelt story of healing, vulnerability, and second chances. Iris and Rafi are richly drawn characters whose quiet strength and emotional depth make their slow-burn connection feel authentic and deeply moving. With lyrical prose and a setting that comes alive on the page, this novel is a gentle reminder that love can find us even when we’ve stopped looking. A truly enchanting and uplifting read.

Between the Towans is one of those stories that feels gentle on the surface but quietly powerful underneath. Bren Moore captures the Cornish coast so vividly you can almost taste the salt in the air and feel the sand under your feet.

What struck me most was how real the characters felt. Iris, with her hidden art and guarded heart, and Rafi, carrying both weariness and hope, are written with such honesty that you can’t help but root for them. Their connection unfolds slowly, with patience and tenderness, making the love story feel authentic and earned.

This isn’t just a romance, it’s about healing, second chances, and rediscovering beauty in the everyday. Bren’s writing balances simplicity with heart, making it both easy to read and deeply affecting.

It deserves far more recognition than it currently has, and I hope more readers pick it up, because it’s the kind of story that stays with you long after you’ve finished it.
