“When we’re on stage, I’m your boss. But when the show is over, I’m the man who wants you, and I’ll keep applying pressure until I have you.” –Shade
As a dancer, Nyx has always followed her own rules. No distractions, no drama, and absolutely no mixing business with pleasure. Touring with Shade, one of the biggest names in R&B, was supposed to be about her career. But one viral lap dance later, and the world isn’t just talking about her moves...they’re talking about them. About the chemistry her and Shade can’t seem to hide and the connection she swore she’d never let happen.
Shade has had his pick of women, and none of them have ever been able to get their hooks into him. But somehow, without even trying, Nyx has slipped into his world and danced right into his heart...a heart he didn’t even know existed. Now, he’s determined to have what’s his, and if that means taking Nyx from the man who doesn’t deserve her...that’s exactly what he plans to do.
I don't think I've read a book by this author that had me so in my feelings. Nyx and Shade kept me on my toes from their first encounter in the story. Although the story began with two different couples together, the right ones ended together. Eli gave off cheater vibe, being an actor. I could feel his shady stuff from a mile away. Skye and Mecca were also doomed based on his free willing cheating game. Skye was too fly to have to deal with that nonsense. Shade and his whole persona floated realness and nothing to play with. He and Nyx were sexy on the dance floor, on the stage and in the bedroom. The little sister's side story, Ocean's story and the Mecca, Skye and the Enzo storyline kept me turning pages. What I enjoyed the most were the strong family connections and Shades love for Nyx. Their love story was a beautiful experience.
I’m a fan of character-driven stories, so I’ll admit—this had its enjoyable moments. Shade and Nyx had that kind of organic chemistry you just know is going to combust at some point. It was obvious they’d eventually get together—even Shade knew it. Nyx took longer to get on board since she was in a relationship with a man who just wasn’t doing right, so she played the game alone until she was done.
I loved the interactions between Shade and Nyx. You couldn’t tell me they weren’t already together—especially with the way he protected her and went out of his way to make her happy. But the back-and-forth? That got old. Hella old.
The family dynamics were a highlight—both Shade and Nyx had deep connections to their families, and it showed. Shade loved his sister down, and the friendship dynamics also shined—Shade held his people down, and Nyx did the same for her friend.
That said, I’ve been reading this author for a while, and the same issue keeps showing up: the stories start with so much potential but never quite land. There’s always something missing—storylines that don’t connect, or missed opportunities that could’ve elevated the book. We didn’t get Shade and Nyx as a couple until about 90% in, and the secondary storylines took up half the book.
The Enzo drama—while I see the author trying to touch on the sexualization of younger girls in the industry—didn’t move the story forward. It felt like filler that could’ve been used to give us more time with the main couple. Skye’s situation was clearly a setup for the next book, but it also proved that the main couple couldn’t hold the story on their own, which is disappointing. Even the incident with Shade’s sister felt like a distraction—it didn’t add to the main romance in a meaningful way.
And for a book marketed as a music romance, the story really should’ve leaned harder into that angle. Overall, I’m disappointed because I expected a more structured plot, stronger focus on the main couple, and something that actually tied back to the title. Guess you can’t always get what you want.
Oh how I love a book that pulls you in from the very first page, and Perfect Rhythm had me hooked. Their chemistry was so effortless and real, and he was everything: patient, understanding, and actually listened. That setup with her friend at the end? I need the next book immediately.
I truly enjoyed this book. I probably have went through every emotion in the book. So much drama so much to keep you hanging on. Now I’m stuck and can’t wait to see what’s next
Ma'am, how could you? I have to give it to you. This masterpiece is the work of a genius. I am always highly impressed when an author can write a story with so many characters' points of view. You make it seamless from one line to the next. Ultimately, we got Shade and Nyx building a relationship outside of their booming careers. In the midst of that, there are so many other factors playing a significant role. You got Eli, Nyx's ex, with his own set of issues. Then you have Skye and Mecca. Jassi and her bestie, Xander, morphing into young adults, are experiencing their college years. And on the top of everything else, Ocean is added in the mix. This story has a lot of players around the round table, but each plays a vital role in the overall story. I am currently hanging by a thread because there are so many unanswered questions at this point. The suspense is making me anxious for the next installment. I am anticipating the next part because I know it's going to be just as explosive as this one. I feel like Ocean is about to move an ocean for Skye. In addition, in the back of mind, I feel like Mecca is involved. And maybe even Enzo. By the way, it amazes me how hard it is for Mecca to let go when he was the habital cheater. I would love to know who Trace love interest is because he has one.
Ladies and gents point blank period. This is a magnificent novel. Ms. Taylor but her blood, sweat, and tears into it. You can feel it as you read each line. Make sure to grab your copy and buckle up buttercup because it's going to be a bumpy ride.
This book piqued my interest from the very beginning and got better and better as the story went on. Shade and Nyx started out as boss and employee but that quickly changed when sexual chemistry entered the picture after a lap dance on Nyx's birthday. Even though Shade wanted something more, Nyx stayed strong because of her involvement with her boyfriend, Eli. I couldn't stand Eli because he stayed gaslighting Nyx, and she was so naive about him until the truth came out. I didn't feel sorry for him when he got the karma that he deserved. Shade and Nyx finally crossed the line, but Nyx realized she wasn't ready for a relationship yet. I loved how they took things slow as friends first and just let things flow organically until they got on the same page. This book had everything to make it engrossing; chemistry, drama, suspense and humor. Ms. Taylor has written another wonderful book, and I can't wait to what happens in Book 2 with Ocean and Skye.
This is maybe my 2nd or 3rd read by A.C. Taylor & it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the characters, and I like some of how the plot was written. However, the title suggests that perfect rhythm is a music romance & I disagree. While it is stated in the synopsis that Shade is a musician, we don't get to see any of that outside of a maybe 2 mentions of him being in the studio. There was nothing really music related except the mentions of industry people & parties. I feel like it would have given the story so much more if we got to see Shade & Nyx in their professional environments to get more of a build-up of their chemistry.
Now that cliffhanger... I'll be waiting for the next book!
The way I stayed up until 3 a.m. reading this book for it to end on a cliffhanger. I am angry. I need part 2 like right now. I have work in four hours. This is going to be a long Monday.
The entire character roster had me on edge. Shade and Nyx... Who were ya'll playing with on the friends but really lovers tip. Skye, baby girl, you should have been left. There is no way the stuff was that good. Mecca, I want my review to go live so I will not address ignorance. Ocean, I love your crash outs and nasty mouth.
This book is good and has to be based on some real-life musicians as I see the inspiration for each character.
This was good but I’m kinda over the love triangle for the sake of it with minimal decent reasoning. Like NYX knewwww she was over that man that they wasn’t compatible so him making it as long as he did just annoyed me. Loved her and Shade’s Chemistry but I felt like it was overshadowed by all the other drama that didn’t directly involve them. The Enzo situation was a delightful dose of drama that was enough to stand on its on and be the main source of conflict but we needed up with a number of issues. I am interested in reading Ocean & Skye’s story though.
I loved Shade and Nyx together. Their vibe was easy and they were cute together. Shade showed her he was nothing like her ex and was determined to honor her boundaries. Nyx did have me frustrated with her at times because she was in denial with her ex and made Shade pay for it before finally giving in to her feelings for him. I would love to get more of Shade and Nyx and I’m definitely looking forward to finding out what happened with Skye.
This book pissed me off sooo bad. I think this book started off too fast & then it eventually plateaued & I was so annoyed & over the two main characters (more so the FMC) and their antics. At times it did feel like spicy scenes were used as filler and I didn’t like that. Also I felt myself more interested in the side characters than I did the main characters at one point & then for the book to end on a cliffhanger about the side characters I was done.
Shade knew Nyx was what he wanted, but her so called boyfriend was in his way. Eli was so manipulative even he believed his lies. Poor Nimah just wanted to be loved. Skye ticked me off being gullible or appearing so when it came to Mecca. Mecca had the audacity to think his sleeping around should be tolerated until he was tired 😂 I can't wait to find out more about Ocean.
I enjoyed this couple and this book. The chemistry between Shade and Nyx jumped off the pages. Eli and Mecca had some nerve. Can’t wait to see what is happening with Skye!
I enjoyed this read sooo much. It loved Shade and Nyx together. You could really feel the chemistry written on the page. I loved that he respected her wishes for a friendship before anything else. Ready for part 2 Mecca has Skye
Oh My Word! That ending, I was NOT expecting that. Shade and Nyx ten out of ten! Can’t wait for Ocean and Skye…babayyyyy hur up with the rest. Ummm the rest of yall just go read the book and not to much on my girl Nyx.
A lot of drama. Shade and Nyx story was good I wish we had learned more about her dancing on tour or experienced more of her dancing. The book was still a great read with a lot of twist. The book is complete and I am ready for Ocean and Skyes story.
This was a good one! Lots of drama and hot sexy moments...The characters all had their moments that had me screaming at my kindle...lol...now let's see what happens next...
A C Taylor is one of my favorite authors. I have read EVERY one of her books and I absolutely love them. Perfect Rhythm is a great book. This book was amazing. I was rooting for Shade and Nyx the entire book. Now I'm ready for book two with Ocean and Skye!
Felt like it was missing something …. The story could’ve progressed a bit better in my opinion. It took toooo long for things to pop off (relationship wise) between the mmc and fmc. I also feel like there was too much focus on side characters… we also didn’t need Eli’s pov.
ALWAYS GET A LICK BACK. nyx is your video vixen she brings the stage to life now mix her with everybody favorite rapper shade. and sparks fly. i truly felt we could see the relationship build and time wasnt rushed with these two. the story was chaotic, and beautiful mhm hm.
