In the futuristic city of NOAH, megacorporate moguls and zaibatsu barons rule humanity’s last refuge through private security forces and superhuman agents called Sponsored Heroes. When topsider and average megacorp employee Genesis lets slip that he can glimpse the future, he’s blackmailed into becoming one of those heroes. Using special armor that chooses its wearer, he now fights to protect the people—as long as it serves corporate interests. Meanwhile, Calli is barely scraping by as a Stratan from the untouchable levels of NOAH when she’s recruited by ATLAS, a secret society bent on toppling the system. With their backing, she obtains power armor and her own to fight for the people trapped under the megacorps’s boot. Genesis and Calli should be enemies, but their clash sparks something far more dangerous. Thus begins a star-crossed romance between a corporate hero and a revolutionary caught in the crosshairs of power.

ATLAS is simply an excellent book. The worldbuilding is fantastic, the themes are exceedingly well woven into the plot and characters.

The story effortlessly juggles a two sided narrative about Calli and Genesis: One 'an evil minion', the other a 'hero' and all the clashes that come of that. This is balanced out by an a sort of work place comedy, with both's struggles in interviews, with coworkers and trying to find a friend to lean on in-amongst.
I could legitimately listen to Calli and Genesis vent all day long, if anything my prevailing qualm is just that; I want more! More of the overarching plot that is slowly being revealed, more of the intruging history the world eases out, more fights with their creative weapons & scenarios, and most of all, more of the leading lady and man simply interacting.

The book is very consistent with its themes and messages. Expectations not being what they seem runs throughout, as does a great insistence on personal responsibility. I deeply enjoyed how Genesis and Calli both ease into their new jobs, simply going with the flow, denying wanting their roles, yet fitting into them so easily, too easily. By the books conclusion this comes to a head in a manner that makes them both stop to consider their actions, to take personal responsibilty and find proper dedication to carry out these larger than life roles.

Very well paced. Clean, concise and spotless prose. A fun sense of dialougue and visuals for its action segments. On all technical fronts the story knocks it out of the park.

All told I don't think I could recommend this novel more, it is well worth a read. I'll be impatiently awaiting more.
