Ms. Wells has brought an interesting slant to a duel, not used to an adult dueling a teenager! But Lydia can not allow her brother to die, placing herself in the way of the pistols. When Duke Archer sees her, barely misses her. But to settle her brothers debts, she will marry him. But must never love him his parents marriage was a nightmare, and her mother ran off with a rake when she was five and her brother a baby. What an example that was set for them!
A wedding in place of a duel brings many changes to Lydia’s life- sisters & a small niece. Learning to love begins easily with hope but Archer’s abusive relationship with his parents is something he has never forgotten & they both must face their demons for the love they have for each other.
I loved it from the 1st page! Such great characters with a great story line I’m always looking for your new books since I’ve read all of the previous ones. Looking forward to the next.
It was sweet, fun, serious, with past darkness on both sides only to become future light and joy. Everything is not what it seems. Second chances abound. Only thing I didn't like was the girl who dressed as a boy and ruined the dukes reputation.
I really enjoy a good regency romance. Sweet, lovable characters with a happy ending. I will say that I was anticipating more drama and kept thinking that the show would drop at any moment. The shoe I was thinking of never dropped. But I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the love between the two characters. The constantly having each other’s backs and looking out for one another. It was a good little escape.
