This is a very different take on the world of shifters. The characters are young so readers will get a YA vibe at times. That does not take away from the overall storyline. I like that readers are given the background. When characters start having flashes of the past, readers will know exactly what they are talking about. I enjoy being in the know as a reader. Usually readers are finding out things with the characters. This book allows readers to know a little more. It allows readers to piece things together that the characters have not fully grasped yet. There is so much going on. I really enjoyed the book. The writing and the storyline will keep readers entertained. I felt a little betrayed when I realized this book was not the end. It's not a cliffhanger but you know there is more to come. There has to be. Mr. Kimbro, please don't leave us like this. This is a long book. I do think some stuff could have been left out. Even though I felt it was long, I wanted more because I want to see the end. I need my hopefully happy ending.

Let's get into it. This book follows Gavin Johnson, a wolf shifter that had been raised as a human. His girlfriend, Erza O'Malley, is a cat shifter. Erza's life is threatened and that is all it takes for Gavin's wolf to come to the surface. Now, he has to figure out how to control his instincts. Instincts that he did not even know he had. On top of all that, he gets summoned by his god with a mission to save all shifters. Gavin has just turned 18 and was concentrating on going to school. His life has completely changed. Fortunately, he has a great support system that will help him navigate these new life changes.

There is a group, the True Lord's Army, that is out to rid the world of all shifters. They are particularly focused on wolf shifters. Eighteen years ago, they attacked a wolf pack and thought they had destroyed all the wolves. They were wrong. When Gavin started at the Magical Academy of Allario, he learned that there were more shifters like him. He wasn't alone. Though Gavin had a lot on his plate, he was still very impulsive. That impulsiveness kept him in trouble, but also allowed him to grow stronger and find out more about himself. So the book ends with a big fight at the school. Will the young alpha wolf come out on top? He has a lot riding on ending this and needs to use everything that he has at his disposal to do so. This book will keep readers interested. The battle scenes are very intense. I can't wait to see what Mr. Kimbro comes up with next for Gavin and his pack.

A magical thrill ride from start to finish!

I absolutely devoured this book! The mix of futuristic tech, powerful magic, and ancient secrets had me hooked from page one. Gavin's journey of self-discovery was emotional and gripping. The first love romance with Erza was surprisingly tender and sweet, and I loved how it balanced out the darker, action-packed moments.

The fight scenes? Epic. The author clearly knows how to choreograph tension and stakes. Every battle felt cinematic. And that ending? Oof. The cliffhanger left my jaw on the floor in the best way. I’m already stalking the author’s pages, waiting for book two.

If you’re into werewolves, magical academies, found family, and stories where science and magic collide, you need this on your TBR. Bravo, Devon. You’ve got a fan for life.

This ended up being a really good book. I could see the writer grow into his work as the book progressed. Once Gavin and Erza get to the academy, things really pick up in content and flow. From there it is non stop action and plot and I loved every minute of it. The cliffhanger at the end hit hard and I am anxiously waiting for the second book! Definitely worth the read!

Action packed, futuristic, insanely creative, and filled with wonderful characters. I really enjoyed this book.
We follow Gavin, an average human in a world filled with shifters and magic. Or so he grew up to think.
Following Gavin's 18th birthday, he soon learns of a past he knew nothing about. Not only is he adopted, he's also a werewolf, and his entire pack was wiped out by an enemy determined to put an end to all shifters.
Eager to understand who he is and to protect the people he loves—namely his hottie were-cat girlfriend, Erza, and their friends—Gavin enrolls at the Magical Academy of Allario.
His strength is tested and his mind is tortured, but Gavin is adamant on bringing right to the wrongs of the past.
Magic, paranormal, action, science, romance. What more could you want?
This is only book one in the series and I'm very excited for book two!
