I hired her to stock my pantry for hibernation. I didn't plan on keeping her forever.
TOLINI live on this mountain for a reason. I’m scarred, exiled, and I don’t play well with others. My clan knows it. The town knows it. But my mother is right about one I can’t survive the winter unprepared. So, against my better judgment, I drive into town to hire help. I just need someone to stock the shelves, clean the cabin, and leave me alone. But Imani isn't scared of my scars or my temper. She stands her ground. And when the blizzard traps us together and the scent of her cleaning supplies finally fades, I realize the disastrous mistake I’ve made. She isn’t just a worker. She’s my fated mate. Now I have to fix the damage I’ve done, even if I have to tear the door off her car to keep her safe. I’ve waited a lifetime for her, and I’m never letting her go.
IMANII didn't move to Shadow Wolf Creek to chase shifters. I came for a fresh start and a paycheck. I have a work hard, save money, and buy the furniture to build a real home for myself. Taking a double-pay job for the town’s recluse seemed like a quick way to reach my goals. I was warned Tolin Ironwood was a beast, but I didn't expect him to be so… intense. One minute he’s screaming at me about a chair, and the next he’s looking at me like I’m the only woman in the world. The storm has us trapped. The heat between us is melting the snow. But can I trust a man who crushed my phone to keep me here, or will this bear break my heart like everyone else?
SNOWED IN WITH A GRUMPY BEAR is a steamy, standalone Black Paranormal Romance. It features a scarred, possessive hero who grovels hard, a heroine who knows her worth, and a "fated mates" connection that burns hot enough to survive the winter.
🐻 Grumpy x Sunshine ❄️ Forced Proximity (Snowed In) 🔥 Fated Mates 🚪 Touch Her & Die (literally, he rips a car door off) ❤️ He Falls First & Harder
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Tessa Stone’s bear shifters are one of my favorites to read about. I feel like Tolin and Imani’s story had a nice little twist on how fated mates work.
Even though “Snowed In with the Grumpy Bear” follows a bear shifter, Stanley’s Diner does make an appearance. Our FMC doesn’t work there (I guess because that’s where the wolves’ fated mates are) but she did contemplate applying there at one point. (I was a little bummed Imani didn’t work there because I like reading Andy’s reactions when another one of this employees turn out to be a fated mate lol). Instead, Imani works at a place called Shadow Suds as a cleaner. She’s tasked with cleaning up Tolin’s cabin which is how they meet.
If you’re this far into the series then you already know that the paranormal beings can smell the fated mate scent on humans. That wasn’t the case when Imani showed up to Tolin’s. I won’t spoil what happened or why Imani’s scent was undetectable, but I will reveal that Tolin was a straight up asshole to her.
He’s actually an asshole to everyone. When I read “Snowed in with the Grumpy Shifter”, I complained about how Kai wasn’t actually grumpy. He was just misunderstood. However in *THIS* book, Tolin was straight up grumpy and a certified asshole. Needless to say, Tolin and Imani had a veryyy rough start to their relationship.
Of all the FMCs in this series, Imani is hands down my favorite. I really liked how understanding yet authoritative she was. Imani didn’t allow Tolin to talk to her crazy and stood up for herself when needed. Tolin had a bad habit of stewing in his emotions for a while and then having outbursts. Imani wasn’t about to play with him, okay? She’d make him talk through his feelings so they could both understand why he was feeling like he was. Then Imani would gather Tolin up with a tongue lashing to let him know that wasn’t okay.
One thing I will say I liked about Tolin is that he didn’t go all caveman on Imani once he realized she was his fated mate. Since he was an asshole to her and the only thing Imani knew about shifters was that they exist, Tolin allowed her to work out her feelings for him on her own. And when Imani had questions about what she was feeling, Tolin was open and honest with her…eventually lol.
As far as everything else in the book, there was a point when I thought I accidentally skipped a few pages. I think it was just continuity errors though. When Tolin and Imani discuss Derrick (Imani’s boss) for the first time, Tolin mentioned that he could tell that Derrick wanted Imani when Derrick came to visit them on her first day at Tolin’s house. Derrick didn’t visit Tolin’s house. He called Imani to make sure everything was okay. Later, Ronan (Tolin’s brother) mentioned that he scared off Derrick but that’s not something that happened earlier in the book. These instances don’t really affect anything, but they did make me pause and wonder if I was tripping.
And if you’re a fan of Tessa Stone’s other series: I always assumed Shadow Wolf Creek existed in the same universe as Wintermoon and that the “rules” for the paranormal beings were the same. Apparently that’s not the case 😅 I think it might be okay to run from the bears in Shadow Wolf Creek. No one warned Imani to not do it and it’s not something she tries. Also, Tolin told Imani he’d give her as many cubs as she wants. In Wintermoon, women can only have two cubs because the pregnancy is too hard on their bodies. (Can y’all tell I’m *deep* into the Wintermoon series and Fated Mates series? 😂)
I really did like this one. It felt different. I loved that the mother was actually present in the story, because in all the other books the parents were either gone. Having her there brought such a warm dynamic and made everything feel a little more personal.
The initial meeting was interesting too he had no idea she was his mate, and the way he stayed so grumpy about everything made the tension really fun. Overall, this was genuinely one of my favorites. I honestly hope we get a book about the brother next the alpha absolutely deserves his own mate storyline and I’d love to see him finally find his person. This one was really, really good. I'm excited for whatever comes next!
I really enjoyed this read it was well worth the wait, Tolin really was grumpy but I lol when Merit told him off. Tolin and Imani started out rough but their story was one that needed to be told it shows that at times you are the one that's in your own way of your happiness. Kudos to the author keep em coming . It would be nice to send Ronin his mate ijs😀
Author Tessa Stone NEVER disappoints!!! Absolutely loved this story…. Looking past what someone shows you to understand the reason is beyond so many understanding to even realize the grumpy are most times just misunderstood and taking the time to actually find out is worth it….
It's definitely giving beauty ans the beast energy except this beauty isn't looking for a man. I loved that he had full accountability for his actions. She continued to hold him accountable too. I also love that she maintained her autonomy. It was cute holiday read.
Imani didn't take Tolin crap!! She stood toe to toe with him. Tolin didn't know that she was his forever! Oh my goodness, I loved this book!! They were just what the other needed. Can't wait for the next book!!
Perfect story for a wonderful time of the year, understanding, accepting, loving and patients is all worth it. As all your books bring me joy this was a very cozy love story that I’ve enjoyed very much this December. Stay Blessed and happy holidays
