The year is 1993, and the final days of World War III are here.
For nearly a year, the world has been ablaze. What began as brinkmanship between East and West has become an all-consuming inferno. Cities lie in ruin. Nations collapse. In the air, NATO wages a campaign of destruction against the crumbling Warsaw Pact. On land, American tanks thunder through East Germany as Western forces drive for Berlin. As Soviet power crumbles, one final, desperate counterattack threatens to plunge the world into nuclear oblivion.
In the waning summer of hate, the last great clash of superpowers unfolds—with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
Book 1 i remember reading a week after came out and now I read finale book in the series the same night it came out. Shows how much I want to see an end to Blackwood’s WW3 series.
Now the book had at times given after action inform of events has it speed run the war conclusion that I just didn’t get the real feeling of major Soviet defeats. Lay the Blackwood tryed to paint the outcome rationally it just became M.A.D. For the Soviet worldn’t change there core values of survival.
Lay I can say I wouldn’ve preferedd the author to had at least used space or considered using technology that scrapped/proposed a used it in WW3 instead of mostly what every knew from that time.
A satisfying conclusion to a pleasantly surprisingly good series. The book’s pace and storyline , as well as the entire series , was great. Sure there was editorial and typo issues , at least on the kindle editions , but it was a great WWIII what if read
Read the seven books in order. It is a well written set of seven im books. Characters and story lines flow throughout all seven. An unended situation in book 2 may resolve in 7. Yes, all can stand alone but are even better read in order.
Was hoping for less high level drama, but an okay story arc. Numerous typos throughout the series and errors, especially in the last chapter - please fix!
Easy flowing series of books with good characters that you can follow. I recommend this series of books for those who enjoy a Cold War era combat scenario covering Air, Sea and Land warfare.
