Fifteen Right: Part I

Rate this book
An assassin determined to discover the reason behind the deaths of a team from his city finds more than he bargained for when he learns the truth.

Aster Westmayne was supposed to be dead, a child lost to starvation or predators when her father had been temporarily taken captive by his enemy. Little did anyone know, she was instead abducted and locked away as a servant inside the broken city of New Bethel, hidden from the eyes of anyone capable of knowing who she truly was—the daughter of a Reaper and combative prodigy who’d abandoned his city and duty with his wife. Ten years later, her father in secret brought her to his home, safe inside the stone walls and mountains surrounding Jarsil.
With Garin Westmayne now in control of the largest and most dangerous city and a daughter being trained to follow in his footsteps, one man makes it his mission to kill her and stop what he believes to be the destruction of everything. But she might save him before he can, leaving him with no choice but to choose a side in the decade-long feud between the two most powerful men in the world.
Sometimes, the devil you know isn’t always better than the one you don’t.

The story of a brutal man trapped in a cycle of violence and despair as he finds something truly worth fighting for and the lengths to which he’ll go to keep it safe. A companion to the Reave Series, see the story from his perspective.

C. Miller has done a fantastic job with bringing back the world of Reave in this companion series. You do not need to read Reave to love this book but it helps fill in some gaps if you read Reave first but as a standalone series it’s still great.

Fifteen Right is about Bren. Bren who, you find out pretty quickly was captured by the Reapers in Jarsil, is the leader of another city. When he’s captured he claims to be his brother Alin. Being his brother is what saves him but what happens when they find out?

Warning some beginning spoilers:
This book is about Bren’s time in captivity and what happens….. after. Aster has a master plan to save her city, Jarsil, from Hastings and it includes the involvement of Bren and his Reapers.

What could go wrong when 2 Reaper cities try to work together? What could go right?

I really enjoyed getting to see not only Aster from a different viewpoint but seeing the Reave world through different eyes. Bren’s point of view is from the Reaper life, from a leader. He is rough and rugged but absolutely brilliant. He’s feared but can be oddly lovable. If you like fighting, plotting, and out witting someone this book is for you. This book just like Reave is a book that draws you in to a whole new world where you can get lost for hours. Sit back with a nice hot chocolate and a cozy blanket, and get ready to lose track of time in this timeless book.

This is a lovely companion book to the Reave series! I would personally recommend reading the whole Reave series first.
I really enjoyed seeing Bren's side of thoughts and events, it lent a whole new perspective to the story even though some of the events overlap. I even felt like we gained more perspective on Aster, seeing her through his eyes instead of her own eyes. A good portion of this book is Bren sorting through his thoughts, so unless you enjoy that, the story might feel like it drags a bit. However, knowing Bren's thought process is kinda the whole point of the book!
Ty to C Miller for the advance copy, sorry it took me so long to read it! 🙈

I was very lucky and given the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I loved reading the Reave series, and this book is a perfect companion. It tells Bren's side of the story, and it's fascinating how much we learn about him and the world seen through his eyes. He is an unforgettable character, and Bren’s journey is one you won’t want to miss. C. Miller's best yet!

A Bold, Addictive Start to a Gripping Series

Fifteen Right: Part I by C. Miller is one of those books that grabs you from the very first page and refuses to let go — and I absolutely loved every second of it.

This is a story that knows exactly what it’s doing. It’s sharp, emotional, and packed with tension that builds chapter by chapter. C. Miller doesn’t waste time easing you in — instead, you're thrown right into a world full of mystery, high stakes, and characters who immediately feel vivid and real.

The protagonist is the perfect blend of strength and vulnerability, and I found myself deeply invested in their journey. Whether they’re making hard choices, navigating intense relationships, or simply trying to survive in a world that feels just a little too dangerous, I was right there with them — heart pounding.

The pacing is excellent — quick enough to keep the adrenaline going, but thoughtful enough to let the emotional weight settle in. Every scene feels purposeful, and the writing is clean, immersive, and filled with just the right amount of grit and soul.

What makes this story stand out is how real it feels. Even with its twists and intense moments, there’s a groundless to it — a sense that these characters could walk right off the page. And the ending? Let’s just say I need Part II immediately.

“Sometimes the right choice is the hardest one to survive.”
(This line captures the heart of what made this story so powerful for me.)

If you’re looking for a story that’s thrilling, emotionally resonant, and sets the stage for something truly epic — Fifteen Right: Part I is a must-read. C. Miller has kicked off a series that I know will stick with me, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

This book is a thrilling start to an epic series that is sure to captivate fans of The Reave Series as well as new readers. Told from the perspective of Bren, a character who is both strong and vulnerable, it offers profound insights into the world. It is Bren's character development that makes the plot so captivating from the outset. The gripping blend of action, intrigue and emotional moments kept me hooked from start to finish. The pace is well balanced, with fast-paced, action-packed scenes alternating with thoughtful, reflective passages. The characters seem alive and believable. C. Miller's clear, captivating writing style is full of suspense, making it hard to put the book down. Fifteen Right: Part I is both entertaining and emotionally touching, with a gripping story that leaves you eager for the sequel.

Rating 3.5/5.

⏳️💀Disturbing and rather surprising.

In Jarsil's tavern, the spy downed drinks, incognito, while observing those around him, eavesdropping on conversations.

His thoughts sometimes wandered despite himself...

This is a surprising and also unsettling novel in its first half, as the reader never learns the main character's name. Between "him" and "he," I found this part particularly confusing and very long to read, although interesting in its exploration of the main character's introspection.

The second half of the novel was also surprising and full of revelations.

The theme of destiny remains fascinating to read.

The very end of the novel made me want to read the sequel.

A must-read for fans of the genre.

Fifteen Right is a sharp, gripping start to the series. The pacing pulled me in right away. It moves fast enough to keep the tension high, but still gives space for the emotional moments to land. Aster’s story is intense and layered, and I loved how her past and hidden identity unfold piece by piece. She feels real, resilient and believable in every scene.

The world itself is one of the standout elements. It’s gritty, lived-in and full of the kind of everyday details that make the danger feel real. The characters, even the side ones, have a grounded authenticity that made it easy to stay invested.

By the time the truth behind the assassinations comes to light, I was fully hooked. A strong and immersive beginning, and I’m definitely ready for Part II.

Thanks to BookSirens for the eARC

The narrative structure is introspective, and the overall pacing is fairly even - the bulk of the story is planning and pondering, with the action picking up towards the end. The characters were fleshed out and nuanced, carefully avoiding falling into the usual fantasy tropes. The moral issues discussed seemed to be a commentary on the state of the real world today, and the hope conveyed by Aster (the central female character) noble and (unmistakably) logical.

I look forward to the continuation of this series, as well as delving into the Reave series to have a better grasp of the well crafted world and the people who reside there.

Fifteen Right: Part I is a thrilling, emotionally charged start to what promises to be an epic series. C. Miller delivers a story that’s gritty, heartfelt, and impossible to put down.

The protagonist is the perfect mix of strength and vulnerability, and I found myself completely invested in their journey — through danger, tough choices, and raw emotion. The pacing hits just right, balancing action with moments that truly resonate.

What makes this book stand out is its realism — the world feels lived-in, the characters authentic, and the stakes deeply personal.
