This story was a ride! And I mean that in the best way possible. The setting was intriguing as everyone prepares for imminent disaster. WWIII, nuclear bombs and underground bunkers, OH MY!

The best part of this story to me was the cast of characters. They very much reminded me the murder mystery stories from the late but great Agatha Christie. This story just has a modern twist and some fun plot twists including that ending! HOW DARE YOU?

This story made me laugh, get angry and yes I was so sad during one scene in particular. I ugly cry so this wasn’t pleasant but the overall story gave me a deep sense of satisfaction and I can’t wait for further stories from the author. This book was so much fun and so well done.

2.5 ⭐️’s, rounding up to 3. I had a really hard time getting into this sadly… It wasn’t until the very end where I finally started to grow an interest in the story and the ending did leave me wanting more! This just wasn’t it for ME but if you’re looking for an MM romance with a slow burn and a bit of mild smut and mystery, look no further!

I don’t often read mystery/thriller and this one hit the right spot! This story was original and exciting to read! The setting was intriguing and something I never really saw before.

After the beginning of the third world war, a group of person hide underground for survival. But what happens when one of them is found dead and the detective in charge is attracted to the number one suspect?

It was well crafted story and it kept me on my toes until the end. The plot twist were twisting and some I never saw coming. And that cliffhanger?!

The set of characters all brings sometime special to the story. I was in love with Ryosuke from the moment he appeared on the page. I wanted to take him into my arms and tell him everything was going to be ok. I Love how Lennart wants to protect the people he cares the most about and his connection with Ryosuke was cute to witness.

It was an amazing debut from Eleonora White

If you like mystery/suspense, slow burn, multiple POV, detective/ suspect and force proximity, you will love this one!

Definitely an amazing debut novel from Eleonora White.

If you want to read sth that will make you think, laugh, and ugly cry then definitely consider trying this. I'd recommend reading this blind as it does have ample mystery and suspense that it's best to try this one out without any ideas about it so when you finally get to some important scenes then you'll just have to enjoy the moment and feel all the feels!

The characters tho! Definitely loved them. Who doesn't love a protective MC?! It's like one of the thing that I look for when I read a novel. And our author definitely delivered that.

If I haven't convinced you to read then just think about this; when a detective develops a crush on his main suspect, what should he do? 🤭

Biggest thanks to the author for the ARC copy 🤍

4 stars - world building and overall atmosphere
4 stars - characters
3 stars - mystery and suspense
2 stars - romance

As someone who has been following Eleonora's writing since her beginnings as a fanfiction writer, I must say that I was quite surprised with this book. The world building that Eleonora demonstrated here is something unseen in her early works and I felt like reading a book from a very mature writer.

I really enjoyed the characters, especially Scarlett and Bjorn who, funnily enough, are side characters. Their attitued was so strong that they become more easily recognizable than the two main male characters.

As for Lennart and Ryosuke - I like both of them, altough with Lennart I sometimes felt like we only caught of glimpse of his real story, despite him being the main character. I feel like this book was only a prelude of a longer series, where Lennart is going be something like 'James Bond' of investigation and I kinda like that idea, because I want to learn more about him.

The romance part was for me personally, the weakest part. It felt like these were two separate books put together - the world at war/murder myster and the romance novel.

All in all, it was a good book and I would definitely read a sequel.
Congratulations, Eleonora White to this debut!
