The brazen abduction of two teens unleashes a torrent of chaos. What should have been a fun evening with her church’s youth group takes a terrifying turn for Hannah Espinoza when she and her friend are kidnapped by armed assailants. Locked up like a criminal, she struggles to trust that God will save her from the dark forces surrounding her.
Dalton faces his most trying challenge yet. Dalton Fowler’s life is upended when he learns that his niece Hannah is missing. When the ransom call comes to him, not her parents, the stakes become intensely personal. The kidnapper’s terms carry a steep price, but refusal will cost Hannah her life.
The day of reckoning has arrived. With the stakes higher than ever, Dalton forges into the investigation of his life. He must find Hannah, and save her, before The Shadows follow through on their threats. One thing is certain. The Shadows won’t rest until they annihilate Dalton and his friends. What hope does a small band of people have of overcoming an evil as powerful and vast as The Shadows?
Final Shadow, the eighth book in The Shadows series, is an action-packed adventure of bravery against impossible odds and the power of Jesus to shine light in the darkest places. Don’t miss this thrilling conclusion to The Shadows series!

A Heart-Pounding Finale That Left Me Breathless—and Wanting More Final Shadow delivers everything I love about suspense: relentless tension, perfectly timed twists, and that tightening-in-your-chest feeling when you know danger is closing in. But what made this finale truly unforgettable is how every character from the previous books steps onto the stage one last time. It’s like watching a team of battle-tested survivors reunite for the most dangerous mission yet—and knowing the stakes have never been higher. I listened to this one, and I have to say: the narrator is absolutely the best. The emotion, the intensity, the pacing—it all pulled me even deeper into the “shadows” and made the twists hit harder. The voices brought the characters to life in a way that made the reunion even more powerful. The suspense kept me glued from beginning to end, but now that it’s truly over? I’m sad. The kind of sad you feel when a story has wrapped up but you still wish you had one more chapter. One more mission. And I especially need more of Dalton and Tari. Their tension, their secrets, their potential—they added so much depth and intrigue, and I’d love a whole spin-off just for them. I’m not ready to let their story end. A brilliant, pulse-pounding conclusion to an unforgettable series—made even better by a narrator who brings every heartbeat, whisper, and “shadow” to life.
Recommended Series that Moves at a Good Pace Holding Your Attention the Whole Way Through
While this is Christian themed, it is not heavy handed. Plenty of action and plots tense enough to keep your attention throughout the whole series. Refreshing in that there is no foul language or gratuitous sex scenes.
Now that the series has been completed you may find yourself running through it one after another. It all ties together from beginning to end. A bit different from other books in this genre in that it does not tie into end times or Biblical prophecy. Rather it stands alone as a series themed of good fighting evil.
A political thread runs through it as well but again not heavy handed at all. Just enough to keep your interest and help bind the plot of the series together.
If you are looking for a good clean read that you won’t have to wait months for to find out what happens next in the saga, this would be an excellent series to begin.
Candle has outdone herself with this book. I think the technical aspects of writing action sequences and characters that grow in ways that are consistent with the people they were at the beginning of the series has really jumped up a notch or two in "Final Shadow". This was suspense at its finest. If you've followed the characters from the beginning, you know what I mean. I hope this isn't the end of these characters even though the title has the word "final" in it.
I have followed this series since the first installment. I believe I gave each read 5 stars. In all truth, these are not 5 star books, but they are entertaining and inspiring. There are some unrealistic things that you’ll encounter, but they may strengthen your faith like mine, and for that I give it 5 stars.
This was a great book. Lots of excitement. Lots of God. I only wish there had been a bit more of an epilog. What happened to Jordan? Did Hannah's family find Jesus? And several other hanging parts. Maybe there will be a new series to answer those questions. I hope!
Totally worth the read! I truly enjoyed this series! Candle writes a very compelling story that mirrors the truth in these times. Thank you Candle! You can truly see God’s hand in the writing!
GOD Bless you Candle Sutton in your Ministry. Through your books our faith can grow. Love how you used Scripture verse throughout the books in this series. Spotlighting the evil in the world is always a good thing to help us all realize how much we need JESUS
This is one of the most riveting, thought-provoking, and soul convicting series that I have ever read! Thank you, Candle Sutton, for following God's lead with your writing.
What a finale ! Edge of your seat situations . Romance in the air and what will become of Lettie ? Will the Shadows rise again ? Who will win the election ? Will Lincoln walk again ? So I don't know could there be another Shadow story.?
This has been a great series to read. I absolutely loved the fact that Candle brought back Audra who had been absent since the very first novel in this series!
