Marked By Moonlight

They called her cursed.
The moon called her necessary.

Sarah was never meant to live.
Born under a blood moon with a sealed wolf and a mark the elders tried to erase, she’s the prophecy the pack buried beneath silence. But silence doesn’t stay buried—and when the bond rips through her spine like a curse that remembers, the lies start bleeding faster than truth.

He wasn’t supposed to find her.
She wasn’t supposed to survive.
And the prophecy?
It doesn’t promise peace. It demands ruin.

Marked by Moonlight is not a love story.
It’s the story of a girl hunted by her own blood, haunted by a bond she didn’t choose, and forged in the ashes of every lie they told to keep her obedient.

She doesn’t want vengeance.
She wants the truth.
And when she finds it—she’ll set the world on fire.

First I would like to thank the author for the ebook of marked by moonlight! Now onto my quick, non spoiler review!

This is my first time reading a book by this author and I feel like it had a lot of promise leading up to it. I am a huge lover of fate/prophecy tropes and all though I do feel like this was set up pretty well, it just fell a little flat for me. I feel like things were a bit repetitive in this story and it wasn’t something that settled right with me, however I do have high hopes that the next book in the series might give more leeway into explaining and going over more events in the story.

Marked by Moonlight is a lyrical, slow-burn fantasy rich in lunar lore and emotional depth. Vesp’s prose glows, and the tension between power and desire resonates throughout.

The protagonist’s journey (especially her struggle to reconcile inherited power with personal agency) is compelling. Vesp excels at emotionally charged scenes, and the interplay between duty and longing is palpable.

While the middle drags slightly in pacing and events, and some side characters lack depth, the final act delivers a satisfying emotional payoff. Repetition slows the pace at times, but it also signals promising growth in future works.

Marked by Moonlight drew me in completely — I was wrapped up in the story and truly invested in the characters. The emotional pull kept me turning pages, and I cared about what happened next.

That said, the writing style leans heavily into being descriptive and poetic. At times it felt like the book used so many words to say very little, which slowed the pace. A particular phrase — “my body knew what to do as it felt like it was a memory” — was repeated so often it became distracting.

Overall, though, the atmosphere and characters carried me through, and I’m glad I read it. If you enjoy immersive, lyrical storytelling and don’t mind a slower, more flowery style, this could be a great fit.

This is my first read from Nyx Vesp and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. When is book 2 coming? I love Sarah & Kai discovering each other, their bond, and what they wanted to be - not just accepting their role in the prophecy. I like how they are scarred by trauma but also are strong and resilient. I feel this book has some repetitive atmospheric language and could possibly use a further edit, but I really enjoyed it. Happy reading!

Thank you to author Nyx Vesp and @theberryagency for and ARC for my honest review.

I found this book very repetitive. The book may not say the same words over again, but they mean similar things. I also found that the story had a lot of potential, it had a great plot line. However, every chapter seems to go over similar things and just adds a few more things to the chapter. I feel like if had a few more edits to the story, it could really be something.

I enjoy a shifter romance. It took a little to get into but loved reading about Sarah and her story. I enjoyed how Sarah and Kai explored their relationship and not being ruled by prophecy. Overall I enjoyed the book and I’m looking forward to continuing the story.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this.

So thankful to the agency who sent me this book for an ARC review.
This was a promising reading however, I found the writing a bit challenging with lots of repetitions and sentences off pattern/rhythm. I was quite difficult to connect with the characters and the story line.
It was perhaps not meant for me to read this book as of now but I will definitely try again later.

I would like to thank the author for the opportunity to read and review Marked by Moonlight.

I went into this book expecting a traditional shifter/fated mates story but was taken on a journey exploring fate and prophecy over love. Although I enjoyed this direction, I felt that the story fell flat and was quite repetitive. I struggled to make sense of the story early on and would’ve loved to have see more world building. I also found it hard to connect with the main characters and would’ve loved to see more character development and backstory.

I look forward to seeing how the story develops as the series continues.
