As an overview and a resource, this book is just about the best I've ever read — and I've been reading about creation vs. evolution for at least 30 years. The Author has plenty of scientific credentials, and provides sources and links to deeper levels of research for as far as you want to go. And he does not shy away from the evidence and arguments for a literal, 6-day creation. The book addresses studies and scientific disciplines I had never even heard of, in language that all can understand. And written with a great sense of humor! I bought the book after hearing Jay speak in person, and have been devouring the DVDs. I sincerely hope there will be more to come from The Starting Point Project. There are so many issues and arguments to be considered, and I feel like Jay is a voice to be heard. http://thestartingpointproject.mybigc...

Jay Seagert has written an excellent book on the differences between evolution and creation and most of all one chapter on how to get saved and an appendix on discussing these things with evolutionists.

Starting with chapter one, In the Beginning: a Good Place to Start and continuing through chapter 12, Intelligent Design: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Jay looks at various topics within the realm of evolution and creationism, origins, fossil record, age of the earth, etc.

He ends with two chapters and an appendix; The Most Important Chapter, Some Practical Advice, and the appendix, Presuppositional Apologetics.

Jay's book is easy to read and has a wealth of information.

For those interested, Jay's website is: https://www.thestartingpointproject.com/ where he answers questions and has videos to watch.

This is a book that grew on me. As someone who is well-read on the topic I was hesitant to spend time reading about what I already know. Instead, I found myself identifying with the author's views and this kept me going. Beyond this, it reads well and the pages turn quickly.

This book makes a great case for why we should not blindly accept the “molecules to man” evolutionary theories being taught in our public schools. There is a plethora of evidence out there that supports the biblical account of creation, and the author logically and simplistically lays out the best cases. One of my favorites—something I previously didn’t know—is that the earth’s magnetic field has a half-life of about 1400 years, meaning it loses half its existing strength every 1400 years. This means that the core of the earth would have been unsustainably hot as recently as 10,000 years ago. It certainly couldn’t be billions of years old if this is the case. Also, there’s a simplistic explanation for the reader to be able to understand carbon-14 dating—something I previously did know about—and how unreliable it is. How could carbon-14 be found in diamonds, the hardest substance in the world— when it has a half-life of about 5700 years, and yet supposedly takes diamonds millions of years to form? How is it that soft material is found in dinosaur bones when they supposedly died out tens of millions of years ago? What is the probability of the human ear or eye forming by accident? Fascinating stuff!

The book was written, not only for the Christian believer, but for anyone who is interested and willing to question what they’ve likely taken for granted their whole life.

Essential reading for any Christian or for anyone seeking answers about our origins. Well written with lots of technical details, but presented in an approachable way.
