Listening to David Suchet's rich voice as I read through these books was a joy. Several positive things regarding women came from reading Esther, who by her obedience to the man who had raised her and by her respectful way of approaching the king with her request, was able to save her people from destruction and to destroy Haman who had sought their deaths; he was hanged on his own gallows.

The idea that "every man be master in his own household," we learn from the book of Esther, came from ungodly advisers and was a foolish decree from a pagan king. (Esther 1:22)

Should a man, even a man who is in a position of authority over a woman, take orders from a woman? Yes! (according to Esther 4:17)
