Psycho
Growing up in an MC, I found life interesting to say the least.
I had women fawning over me, men who wanted to be me,
And I loved every bit of the attention,
I relished in it.
But I had certain expectations to abide by.
My father was the Vice President, a role I was to take over,
And I had to prove my worth,
Which, for a man like me with anger issues,
It was a struggle.
But I was honoured to be chosen to stand by my best friend as his second,
And nothing else but the club mattered,
And her.
She was my salvation, my little ray of light.
She was my best friend.
I fell in love with her before it was appropriate, but I swore I’d never go there,
Until I did….
It shouldn’t have happened, I shouldn’t have given in to temptation,
Because now, she is all I think about.
I pushed her away, knowing this life isn’t what she wants,
I made her hate me,
And now, she’s marrying someone else.
She’s erasing me from her life, and I can’t have that.
I need her like I need air to breathe.
I made a mistake and now I’m going to correct it.
And one way or another, my little cupcake will be mine,
Even if I have to go to lengths no other has before.

Ivy
My heart has belonged to Psycho for as long as I can remember.
Every memory that I have, he’s at the center.
He’s my best friend, my heart.
He’s the man I dreamed about spending the rest of my life with.
But he doesn’t feel the same.
He friend-zoned me, and I tried to be okay with it,
I tried to be normal with him,
Until I couldn’t take it anymore.
I made my move, and he reciprocated,
And hope built, the promise of a future together was clear,
Until it wasn’t.
He said it was a mistake, that it should never have happened,
And then he did the unforgivable and broke me.
I felt embarrassed, ashamed even so I did the only thing I could think of,
I tried to cut him out of my life.
But he had other ideas.
Danger was coming, and he pushed himself back into my life,
Refusing to let me go.
He had a change of heart; he realized I was his.
But he’s too late, because forgiveness is not on the cards for us,
No matter how much he tries….

This can be read as a standalone. It is book 2 of 5 of the Dark Angel’s MC series, with a HEA. Due to mature content and themes, this book is recommended for readers aged 18+; this novel may contain triggers.

Unfortunately, this did not work out for me because of the plot. It was just too unbelievable for events to have unfolded like they did. This was beyond miscommunication. The FMC was just an idiot and there's no getting around that. No one would have done the thing's the FMC pulled. I'm sorry I can't give this higher than two stars.

Wow they went through the ringer

Psycho and Ivy have been best friends. What happens when they cross that line? What happens when you don't communicate? Well you'll have to read the book to find out.

I wrote a review but of course it didn't save. The opening scene is him having Descriptive great sex with a club girl while he is thinking of the heroine whom he loves! Just gross. anal and everything in between. but neither main characters are virgins. She has had sex 4 times at college and high school and she has always loved him. he has had sex 2,234 times with clubgirls and strippers to ease his lust for the mfc! (This is just my own guess. It could be wrong. Its probably much higher than that!) But they were in the friend zone. It was double standards all the way. They finally hook up, she gets pregnant and She thinks he cheated with his club ho but he says he didn't after they had claimed each other as soul mates. I threw up in my mouth a little after that. I just didn't buy it. And then his ex fantastic sex partner shoots her and him because she should have been his. The baby is a preemie and they do get an.HEA. for now because he will most likely find out he got syphillis from one if his ex hookups and die. I can only.wonder ...

Gave 2 stars cause at least it wasn't constant & stupid cheating and the FL wasn't a complete rug, but she was an idiot. This story was just so stupid for too many reasons to list. Talk about writer's license to write fiction!

I've definitely read better books by this author...

Funny, there are usually a lot of editing and grammar errors, but this one wasn't too bad. Not perfect by any means, but not bad. It normally doesn't annoy me with this author because the story is always pretty good, and I can overlook those errors because of the story. This time, I would have preferred more errors and a better story.

Ivy got on my nerves... bad. I can't explain it. She was portrayed as this mature 13 year old and then she turns into an idiot.

Spoilers ahead...
Seriously? Could she have been more of an idiot? She knows her mom is pretty much selling her, and she just accepts it and hopes Pyscho just rescues her? The man that said we need to remain friends after sleeping with her? Really? I would have contacted the brothers... told them what was happening and told Pyscho to go jump in the nearest lake. Instead, she made it to where it was all her fault. I just couldn't deal with it or how Pyscho was blaming her for everything. How about the fact that he said they could not happen that they were better off as friends.

This book needed some help. All the whining from Ivy got on my nerves. I'll still read the next book in the series. I just hope she does better than this one.

Ivy always knew that Psycho was the one for her but growing up in the MC she knew that is loyalty was to always do right by the MC. That included friend zoning Ivy. When Ivy gets into a predicament and holds a secret, she hopes Psycho will come to her rescue.

Psycho loves Ivy fiercely but believes he is not worthy of her. One night of what could be only reinforces his belief but when he finds out she is about to marry he decides it is time to man up. Not all is as it seems though and secrets are about to be revealed, will his love help guide him through the troubled waters ahead or will it destroy the future they both want?

I liked this one but Ivy is not my favorite, I get why she does what she does but their is an immaturity to her in some of the story and having read all the books thus far in the series she is my least favorite. Really liked Psycho, good story with several twists.

Fabulous storytelling

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: friends to lovers
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

I'm really loving these stories. Charlotte is a wonderful storyteller and these characters have me completely invested. I love the complicated storylines, but there's a lot going on with a lot of characters and it frequently gets to be a bit much. Also, I feel like she is giving away a tad too much for the upcoming books when she could just be giving us breadcrumbs.

Love

C.L McGinlay does it AGAIN!!
Love the lead up to the next book in the series as well.
Love the storyline. While typical in the trope, I've always loved how C.L breaks down how her characters find the solution to HEA.
Cannot wait for the rest of the series

Summary:
This book is book 2 in a series. I recommend that you read the books in order.

FMC and MMC have been best friends since childhood. They are both in love with the other but scared to say or do anything about it. Then one night everything changes but instead of drawing them together it tears them apart. Add in club drama, ow drama, a surprise pregnancy and you have a story of two people finding the courage to love each other.

Review:
I enjoyed this book. There were moments that were a bit slow paced for me but all in all I liked this book. The FMC was all over the place at times, but it makes sense as she has been in love with the MMC since she was eight. The MMC realizing he could not do without the FMC was nicely written. The OW drama was perfectly timed. I will continue on with this series.

Psycho (Dark Angel’s MC series book 2) by Charlotte McGinlay

I love the books but hate how hit and miss the editing is. This writer either has a bad editor or is using AI to edit her books. Wrong words being used, words missing, messed up punctuation, wrong names being used. I think someone needs to tell her the word aspiration doesn’t mean what she thinks it does. It never fits with any of the sentences she puts it in. The font for the memory scenes changing halfway through causes confusion. Also, I have mentioned many times how these books are hit and miss when it comes to proper division in time differences within chapters. If you’re suddenly switching a scene to hours later, it needs to be to be divided correctly to avoid giving the readers whiplash. The title of the book is also misspelled, it’s supposed to be Psycho not Pyscho.
I really do love the stories and the characters, but the continued editing problems prevent these books from being as awesome as their potential is. A simple ACR team could catch the stuff left in them and point out what needs fixing.

Psycho & Ivy: triggers: loss, grief, cheating, family discord, cancer?, gun violence, and more 🤫... I really enjoyed this book but let me just say that this author is 🦇 💩 crazy because she was doing the most in this book. I kept wanting to call the characters poison ivy 🤭. so the book starts with two young characters about 4 years apart who are best friends, their dad's are in the MC. psycho's mom decides to leave her club cut for his dad because she's had enough of the cheating. it's at that point psycho takes a stand that he will NEVER take an old lady. at the same time Ivy reprimands all the club members at a young 13 years old about how they know if a woman wants them for them or their cut. I'm present time psycho and ivy are still best friends and psycho is also best friends with her brother only now they are adults and the boys are in the MC. ivy is very firmly placed in the friend zone despite being irrevocably in live with psycho and vice versa. but something happens to push them over the line if friendship, there's regret, tears, anger and then... all hell breaks loose. I can't just for much I enjoyed this. I was so enthralled by the story on every side.

Love the book but formatting is needed

I love Charlotte McGinlay and her books. My only issue is that she’s in need of a beta reader and formatting. There needs to be paragraph breaks when we’re in the same chapter but a new scene happens. A big issue with this book is that there quite a few flash back scenes and the font isn’t different to indicate a memory. It got kind of confusing to figure out when the memory started and ended.

Also, I’ve never had a negative reaction to one of her FMCs before, but Ivy irritated me. I kept screaming in my head…SPEAK UP / COMMUNICATE!!! Ugh, it was so annoying.

I can’t wait for Fury’s book. I’m hoping we learn Anna’s secret, but I’m on the fence about Skylar. Right now I’m not a fan of hers. I understand being upset with Brick, but come on, give Blade a chance.

As always Charlotte loves to bring the Oomph.
Her novels are always filled with the most epic angst and drama - and i am HERE for it.
Psycho and Ivy's relationship is built on a strong bond, which gets pulled apart by all the nasty and wrong people.
Every time I read an MC novel, I really just want to smack all the club W****s and patch chasers. I then also really want to beat the sense into the MMC, because they are all idiots.
Charlotte knows how to make you both hate and love the MMC - Psycho is both the same and different to the norm here, which was awesome.
Ivy is a bit of an idiot and naïve, but you feel for her - she knows she is been an idiot and immature in her actions, but she also does not want to hurt *no spoilers* a few certain peoples.
They both stuff up and their fight to come back together is amazing.
Read this book, you will not be disappointed - just make sure to read the trigger warnings.

Did not finish, maybe go back at another time. Was good with the story up until 31%.

The FMC in love with her BF who is part of the MC her Dad and brother are part of. She does not like the MC because the older brothers cheated on their wives. Psycho does not want to hurt her so he has only kept her as a friend and slept with the club whores. They finally sleep together and then he tells her they need to be friends because he wants her to go live her dreams. She is at the club house and she thinks he has slept with one of the girls. After she left the club house FMC finds her Mom being held at gun point by a rival gang. The FMC Mom owes them money she borrowed for chemo treatments she didn't tell her family about. She is OK letting her daughter become the wife of the bad guy so she doesn't have to tell her ex-husband or son. Just don't make sense.

🖤 Psycho

🖤 Psycho – CL McGinlay (The Dark Angel’s MC, Book 2)
Best friends to lovers? My absolute favorite kind — and this book delivered.

I’m not gonna lie, Ivy frustrated me a bit for not asking for help, especially when she knew she was being manipulated. But her growth? So satisfying. And I still rooted for her the whole way.

Now Psycho… he stole my heart. He knew he loved her and never once hid it.
He didn’t touch any other woman. He respected Ivy — even when he was hurt or disappointed. That loyalty and patience? Chef’s kiss.

This book was addictive. Once you start, it’s impossible to stop.
Like Book 1, there are some trigger warnings, but this one’s definitely less dark. Still gritty, still emotional… and definitely spicy.

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Wow my heart went on a journey with this one. Love at first sight doesn’t even cover this. BestFriends to lovers. This book had me holding on to every word every deception that happened and heroic moments. I don’t want to say too much because I do not wish to spoil it for anyone. So all I recommend is please ensure to read the trigger warnings as sometimes not realising a certain trigger is in a book can cause mental health issues but thankfully this author always includes the Trigger Warnings. But please go forth and read this book I couldn’t put it down, I tried but I needed to see it through to the end. A few chapters here and there wasn’t enough for me. Then it ended and I wanted even more lol

Enjoyed

I enjoyed this book it was a great read amazing characters and can see improvement from the author i loved her other series that came before but alot of the stories were in the same time line and felt it was just repeating the book before where this series makes references and explains the point rather than repeat whole sections. But I still recommend her other mc books as still good. Ivy and pyscho are childhood best friends few years apart and both club kids but have romantic feeling for each other but hiding them until they can't, they have really bad communication skills with each other and this and when ivy mum needs help she goes along with a plan that will change her life and for the best.

Ok so I loved this book, as I do with all Charlottes books. Loved the characters and the story. Love the drama and angst. However, with this particular book I hated how it got turned around and became like the FMC had done something wrong because she didn’t tell him that her wanting to leave was because it hurt her watching him get with all the clubwh0res! I mean come on, why would she tell him that?? Why didn’t he tell her that he was being a dirty manwh0re because he had feelings for her?! Stupid!

And yes, ok, she was definitely stupid for going along with her mum and not telling the MC, but she never really intended to go through with the wedding, she fully expected Psycho to save her, she just didn’t realise he was going to wait until the last freaking second! He was a dumba$$ and should have been the one groveling at her feet!

Regardless, they were meant to be together and I’m glad they got their HEA.

Pyscho and Ivy

So much drama in this story. The story is about two best friends that love each other, but don’t want to cross that line that will permanently demolish or create a lifetime. This couple has to struggle with pain and trust before they can get their happily ever after. Before anything can happen trust is going to be broken and pain like no other will endure their lives, but like everything else this author writes, conquering their demons will be established with lots of love and forgiveness and standing behind them strong is the MC members and their old ladies. Couldn’t put this book down and highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Cheating = perceived but there was no actual cheating

MC = it's there

Grovel = um, not really present, but they said sorry...

OW drama = h's mom is a manipulative ho=bag who barters her own daughter for payment of a debt, not caring about well-being of h. Comeuppance? Mom gets a beat down and thrown out. There is a CW who wants H and tries to shoot the h, H steps in front of h and takes the hits. Comeuppance? CW gets another hole in her head.

Amnesia = H gets some mild amnesia after the shooting, he regains some but not all his memories.

TW = birth trauma, severely premature birth, long recovery for baby

this is a story of falling in love with your best friend but thinking you're not good enough or you're break their heart. Psycho know he loves his cupcake but he is afraid that he will be like every other brother and hurt her, not knowing that pushing her away is what is breaking her. His cupcake knows she's been in love with him forever but she has the club princess she has seen too much and is afraid. when the one person that is supposed to protect her is the one that puts in her danger everything changes. can they find their way to eachother through danger, crazy clubgirls and near death

Editorial nightmare

I read a review about this book that stated it was really good and less grammatical errors than usual with this author hence their rating.

Well, I’m shocked! Because this book was peppered with nothing but spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, font issues, plot inconsistencies. If this was less than usual I’m not sure I want to read the others.

It’s a shame because the plot was really good. It’s a good storyline and the only reason I didn’t give a lower rating.

Good bff to lovers story with some OW drama and trauma. I love how the author gets into details of her stories, how she managed to get the feelings and emotions out of the trauma of premature birth. I could definitely relate.
Although the drama between Psycho and Ivy at the beginning could have been avoided as she was immature and jealous. I’m not fond on miscommunication drama but fortunately the story wasn’t base solely on it.
Now I can’t wait to read the others stories.

Okay, if you could put the whole kitchen sink into a book it would be this one. Wow, I'm not sure how she fit everything in this book. I'm a sucker for friends to lovers, add in the absolute over the top craziness that is a McGinlay book and I had myself a good time. Like I said, there is a lot of room for improvement but I don't care I was entertained.

Needed Editing

I loved the story, but I can't get past the missing sentences, typos, and things like "sighing in aspiration" to give it a higher rating. I would have DNF'd from being pulled out of the story so many times and having to reread pages to figure out what was happening, but as I said, I loved the story.

Great Read

I have read Blade and liked the authors writing style. So I thought I’d check out the other books in the series. The story of Ivy and Jax was really well written. I’m not a crier but the part with the baby killed me. I think I used a box of tissues. I will definitely be reading the rest of the books and anything else I can find by this author.

These two are sweet. Their only issue was not communicating. Which could be a small or huge issue, in this case it was big. I really can’t wait for the next book. I just don’t like waiting a month or so. Hahaha.
Also Poor Anna, wait till they find out how wrong they were….

A bit too far fetched to stretch my mind into believing anyone would be as gullible as the h. Also what is going on with all the crying, is she secretly Spongebob Squarepants sister and leaks every time someone squeezes her? Pathetic character!!
