Back in Blood

3.5 ⭐️ I appreciated how genuine the story was, but I wish we'd discovered more about Caprice and Lisa's connection. Given the tragedy they both experienced, a well-developed relationship would have enhanced the plot. Sometimes 300 plus pages are needed.

This was a good read and a new to me author. Capri lost his daughter and decided to seek revenge, unfortunately for him the person he kidnapped really isn’t collateral. Eventually he and Lisa bound over lust and loss. I appreciated how Capri was able to forgive at the end and how Lisa was able to move on from her ex. All in all I enjoyed the plot but wish we got to see Capri and Lisa develop more into their relationship. Oh and Robin is definitely trash, lying like that to try and get her man back when y’all been broke up was evil work.

(3.5⭐️) I definitely thought this book was going in a different direction. It starts off with betrayal, heavy losses & revenge plots, But the story eventually shifts into something else and honestly, I wasn’t all the way mad at it.
Capri and Lisa are first tethered together by the unfortunate actions of one person, and later connected in another way (that I won’t spoil). I enjoyed watching them navigate their unusual circumstances and bond over what another reviewer perfectly described as “lust and loss.”
Where it fell flat for me was the relationship development. If the story had ended with more of a “happy for now” or even a “we’re about to be connected for life, let’s figure this out dynamic”, I think I would have rated it higher. The author does show their relationship forming beyond the physical, but that doesn’t really happen until nearly 90% into the book. The characters also never express their love for one another (even in the epilogue), which made it harder for me to feel emotionally invested in them as a couple.
I also would have liked to see more closure for Capri. He mentions needing to forgive certain people and work through things, but we never really see that play out. Did he forgive them? Did he go to therapy? What did his healing actually look like?
If you like messy connections, shared trauma, and characters working through things like grief, alcoholism, and betrayal, you might enjoy this one.

Unlikely revenge
I empathized so much with Capri because what happened to him was so terrible, so I could definitely understand his need for revenge. Capri and Lisa were two individuals that came together under terrible circumstances, but I loved what blossomed between them. I will say that I've noticed a pattern in Natisha Raynor's books, and that's the couple getting together at the very end of the book, and while I love her writing and her stories, I would definitely love to see the couple together before the epilogue.

Well done. This was a unique story to me, I highly advise paying attention to the trigger warnings.
But man, what a story.
Initially, I wasn’t feeling Lisa’s attitude about Sin and keeping his secret. I mean, she was still talking about marrying him or concerning herself with where they stood.
But she redeemed herself. I loved how she didn’t allow herself to be mistreated by Capri regardless of the pain he was feeling.
Now- Capri! My heart ached for him. I’m glad he healed and what an eye opener about empathy, forgiveness, and compassion.
Robin tried it. Talk about making a not great situation worse. Why couldn’t she accept the fumble and move around?

Re-read and still loved! I was actually fine with the ending this time around. Pretty much I got everything I needed out of this read. It explores complex topics, and each person's POV is presented well. I understood Capri, empathized with Lisa, while also feeling that Robin had every right to be appalled, disgusted and feel betrayed. I will probably read this book again!

4.5 Really enjoyed. Well written, well paced, great, solid, sexy characters and HEAVY topics that are dealt with well. The ending felt slightly rushed (would have liked to see more there), but for the most part this was a great book.
Housekeeping wise, Capri is called Caprice twice at the 86% mark.

This was my first Natisha story but it certainly won't be my last!
When I tell you that this is a page turner that I couldn't step away from, I mean just that.
Every time I thought she couldn't add nothing else to this story, she did.
My heart equally poured out for Lisa and Capri, both suffered immeasurable loss that led them to trauma bonding. Most people will complain that it took too long for them to finally decide to be together but I think it made it realistic. Neither thought they would ever be in love again after the betrayal they experienced but somehow the universe saw fit to keep putting them together. I assumed this would be a captor/captive stockholm syndrome story, it was nothing of the sort.
One thing for certain the complexity of the characters in this story shows a real talent for Raynor's writing. I rooted for Sage even though I know he wasn't end game. I wanted to beat the breaks out of Lori but wanted to drag Robin down the street by her very existing edges. While Capri was prickly it wasn't without reason and I love Lisa gave him grace but also stood 10 toes down in her boundaries.
This is an emotionally charged will leave you in shock but also in awe of the talent.
One small note on the Audiobook- I was not really a fan of the FMC's voice but overall didn't let that deter me.

It was so sad what happened to Caprice and proof that stray büllets don’t have a name on them. I understand Capri spazzing out after Caprice was unalived especially after learning the treacherous act by Robin and Dolph and Caprice’s paternity being in question. It was so heartbreaking at the loss that Lisa suffered with her baby son as well. I wanted for him to be named and have a proper burial but I can understand why Natisha probably wasn’t in the best headspace to go fully into more details. Sintonio was a flawed nícca all around and deserved more than twelve years. I wanted Robin to suffer repercussions for faking an illness to get GoFundMe donations. This was a good book even with the tragic losses but I like the fact that book wasn’t overpowered, overly depressing, and stifling that it took over the book.

This book was missing development. It was an okay read. It entertained me enough to finish it but at 70% or so I was wondering how they would end up together cuz they lacked chemistry. They trauma bonded and I guess that could lead to love; therfore, I wanted to see it. But I didn't see it. It kinda seem like they agreed to be together because of the baby. It was kinda weird.

Baby I love when the thug falls first! Capri and Lisa actually trauma bonded over the loss of their kids! Before the Capresw death; Capri founds out that is fiancé and best friend had a one night stand and that Caprese might not be his. He is heartbroken and betrayed. He puts that fiancé out with a quickness and does a paternity test. While awaiting the results- Lisa’s fiancé shot in the air and accidentally kills Capri’s child. Capri decide to get revenge on Sintanio and kidnap pregnant Lisa. Lisa has a complicated pregnancy which doesn’t help with the kidnapping. She is advised to end the pregnancy due to the complications but she doesn’t! She ends up going into labor and since he not completely a monster he gets her some help and takes her to the hospital!
Capri thought he was hurting Sintanio but Sintanio doesn’t care the least little bit. Sintanio is upset that Lisa doesn’t allow him to see the birth or hold the baby. Lisa was done with him! Capri’s mission is to make Sintanio’s life miserable and he does that lol. He beats this man up repeatedly, set his house on fire, tear his truck business up. He bullies that man so bad that Sintanio turns himself in.
Capri and Lisa continue to run into each other and end up bumping and grinding. They both are on some drunk and sneaky link type of time. Lisa ends up getting pregnant and they end up working out!

This is a beautiful read
Loss of a loved one especially children is devastating and starting a new relationship out of tragedy can be shaky. Natisha wrote an intricate plot with every character intricately interconnected. It is wizardry that made it all come together in a weird yet sensible way. What I loved the most about Capri was that he remained a principled man even at his lowest point. Fidelity and loyalty to his relationships was important and he didn’t fold whenever Robin tried to return. The way he treated Lisa during his darkest times always made sense. This is one of the only books where sex was present but secondary to the budding romance. The story was well written and this was a good read.

The synopsis is very misleading this book is about healing and the struggles one goes through with the lost of a child I think promoting this as a revenge story where he kidnaps the girl for the sins of her fiancé truly dumbs down the core of this entire books message it truly only take place only within a chapter or 2 of this entire books so to me it’s weird to base a whole synopsis around it but also we spent so long with them being fuck buddies to parents with the sprinkle of trauma I think she forgot to have them a be real relationship and develop a connection bc it was basically fast forward in the last chapter 🙄 anywho not bad but very much mislead book with wayyy to much to be desired

I hate how men never forgive the woman but women never get forgiven but then I guess that would have ruined the plot huh? They should have at least made Robin a perpetual cheater. She cheated once and he had no compassion for the mother of the child and didnt even grieve with her? That is soooo far fetched and fake. And the fake cancer part was silly. If she had a full blown affair she would have been more unredeemable. Who falls in love with their kidnapper? Stockholm syndrome much? And Lisa’s husband just out the blue ain’t shit? There were no signs? Like come onnnnn…. There had to be some signs that she was ignoring that he was capable of being an asshole. Also Lisa and Capri’s love story was rushed at the end. It was sex only until the last ten pages.

Take this emotional roller coaster ride!
Wooooo, this book was so good! It was well written, and it took me through there. Our MMC Capri and FMC Lisa has experienced some horrific loss. Capri found out that he was betrayed in the worst possible way by his best friend and his fiance. Robin has withheld something that had the power to make or break them since year one of his relationship, and it came out in the worst possible way. Smh, Capri was so hurt and kicked her out.
Robin, our FMC, lost her baby when she was 6 mths pregnant. She was an emotional reck, depressed, and not getting any support from her fiance until Capri. What the FMC and MMC didn't know was how this all would end for them both.
This is an enemy to lovers' book.

Back in Blood was definitely a good read, but with a title that bold, I was expecting the story to come outside swinging. The plot kept me interested, and I definitely felt Capri’s pain because life was throwing punches from every direction. I appreciated the way grief and alcoholism were woven into the story, but I wanted more depth, especially when it came to Capri and Lisa’s relationship. The drama showed up, but it never fully stepped on the gas. For a title like Back in Blood, I expected a little more chaos, more emotion, more pressure. It was fast paced and entertaining, but it played it a little too safe for me. Still a solid 3.5 star read with plenty of potential.

Even though both situations were horrible they were mistakes. And I am so glad Capri got his stuff together to be the man Lisa and their son needed. I’m glad his enlightening also opened his heart up to his dad. Lisa deserved her happy ending and I’m glad she got it because for a minute there I thought she might be cursed with all the bad things that were coming her way. Five Stars as usual!!

This book felt like something was missing. It was a decent read but some parts could’ve been expanded and some part could’ve been left out all together. Also some parts were repetitive.
Capri got hit left and right with betrayal and a loss that he could hardly recover from. Stewing in his hatred and anger he decides to get his revenge back in blood. Unfortunately for Lisa, she’s a part of the plan and gets caught in the crossfire. Unexpectedly the two of them share the same loss and hurt and form an unlikely bond. Will they be what each other needed all along ?
Capri and Lisa’s relationship needed far more development. I didn’t really feel the romance so by the time they finally got together it seemed a little unrealistic.
Sin deserved worst in my opinion. Robin was really terrible! I love how this book highlighted the effects of trauma bonding.
Overall decent read.
This book felt like something was missing. It was a decent read but some parts could’ve been expanded and some part could’ve been left out all together. Also some parts were repetitive.
Capri got hit left and right with betrayal and a loss that he could hardly recover from. Stewing in his hatred and anger he decides to get his revenge back in blood. Unfortunately for Lisa, she’s a part of the plan and gets caught in the crossfire. Unexpectedly the two of them share the same loss and hurt and form an unlikely bond. Will they be what each other needed all along ?
Capri and Lisa’s relationship needed far more development. I didn’t really feel the romance so by the time they finally got together it seemed a little unrealistic.
Sin deserved worst in my opinion. Robin was really terrible! I love how this book highlighted the effects of trauma bonding.

Oohhh, messy from the very beginning — secrets, manipulation, and emotional chaos everywhere.
Robin really was manipulative and a liar. Sintoro was reckless and lacked accountability the entire time.
Capri felt like a man constantly on the edge. I kept thinking, “not one more thing” because he truly couldn’t handle anything else.
Lisa was really just a woman caught up by association, but once all the connections came together, her relationship with Capri felt rooted in trauma bonding. Still, Lisa showed emotional maturity by encouraging therapy, and Capri actually listened.
Glad they finally got their HEA.
