She’s proven herself worthy of a prince, but can she prove herself capable of being a princess? After multiple agonizing attempts to earn the princes’ favor, and one shocking duel, Diaspro has gained the attention of not only the princes, but the citizens as well. This would be an excellent development if the king weren’t so furious at her for earning their support by bending the rules. Enraged by her tactics, King Septimus declares that Diaspro may not wed any of his sons until she has proven herself undoubtedly worthy—by making her compete against other potential brides.
With a new roster of princesses on the way, Diaspro is forced to join forces with the princes who, until recently, hardly cared if she lived or died. A freshly spilled secret has bound their fate, leaving Diaspro to apprehensively trust the royals, or at least appease them so they keep quiet. However, not even the princes could have prepared her for the vicious women the king has pitted against her.
Warriors, pirates, and assassins alike make up the list of competitors, each more horrid than the last. To make matters worse, the rules state that whoever lands in last place will be executed—a thoughtful addition from the king. With the odds stacked against her and a crown on the line, can Diaspro save everyone she needs to? Or was she never fit to be a princess…?
Fit For A Prince is book two of a three part, no-spice, fantasy romance series, featuring a swoony must-choose romance, arranged marriage, prisoner to princess, and impossibly high-stakes.
Dude. Was I the only one who secretly wished she chose Lochlan? The who will she choose aspect of the first book was why I loved it. I did feel there was more to Lochlan than she touched on in this book, and I was secretly hoping the Guardian was his secret persona as he fought against his father. This book was a good read, despite the shift in character behaviors and the long stretches of sitting around. Barely any 🫑 with a single kiss, so the series maintains its PG rating. Overall, it was a good follow-up from the first book and a good installment in the series.
This was such a fantastic read. Abigail is the plot twist queen for a reason. The first in the series had a devastating cliffhanger that had me itching to read the next. This was such a satisfying second in the series. I really can’t say much because I’d start dropping spoilers. Just know that this is an incredible read that will keep you on your toes and flabbergast you. I will read everything she writes.
What?!?!!! I have no words! This book was just as fabulous of a sequel as any reader could ever hope for. It has ALL of the action, the suspense, the deadly political games and the character growth! And for those who are like, where's the romance? Isn't this a fantasy romance series? Don't worry! The tension and romance ramp up too, and shift from enemies to something else does happen! There's even a kiss! But I won’t say which prince it's with. Hehehe. And the twist at the end?! My jaw is still on the floor! I wasn't sure if any twist could top the twist that ended book 1, but I was wrong! I did manage to guess a small part of the ending, but certainly not all of it. I will be sitting on pins and needles, patiently but desperately waiting for book 3!
Note: I did NOT get an ARC of this book. I purchased an early release copy during the author's Kickstarter campaign.
I love seeing all of the people so excited for this book! Abigail is an amazing writer and the prose in this book was wonderful, as expected. Unfortunately, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
I got a little irritated with Diaspro during the story. I also found the plot kind of predictable (Don't hurt me, people - it's rare for a book to surprise me). I found her choice of love interest predictable, which I guess is a good thing because it seems to have made a lot of the readers happy!
There were some really amazing quotes in here and I will definitely read the final book to see how the trilogy ends, but I wont' be anticipating as much as I was between book one and book two.
I received an ARC from the author, but read it in KU. All opinions are my own (and obviously unpopular! haha).
I look forward to my next read from Abigail because typically her books never disappoint.
Completely amazing!! 🤩 After finishing the first book in this series, I was so anxious to get the second one. The awesome twists at the end that get a reader’s heart pumping in anticipation for what is to come. Abigail does a wonderful job getting a reader’s heart pumping to anticipate something and then, turns it completely around and shocks even those ready for a twist. Fit for a Princess did not fail to do just that. I felt as if my pulse was pumping faster and faster, and then, bam, it stopped completely because the most unanticipated happened. 😱
So, enough about my feelings and onto the overall plot. In this story, Diaspro is required to go up against several other princesses only the have the opportunity to select marriage at the end, and only if she wins. Of course, the trials or tests challenge her in a variety of ways. While attempting to win the trials, she is also watching her back and trying to protect her people who are assisting and working for her. Thankfully, she finally realizes who she loves and how she should overcome her problems. However, once again, the story ends with a twist that has the reader anxiously waiting for the next installment. I cannot wait for the next one to come out, so that I can see how Diaspro gets her happy ending. 🤞 👸
I received this as an ARC, but gave my own thoughts and opinions. Abigail’s books are some of the best I’ve read, and I’ll always recommend her stories!! 😃
The story was good, but the premise didn’t make much sense? And the ending seemed to lose what little sense it had. It was probably meant to be a heart-pounding, nail biting moment, but I couldn’t take it seriously when Diaspro caught an arrow and her sling’s stones only knocked people out when she hit them in the head…
I loved the first book. But this one didn’t really do it for me. The whole trial thing didn’t make much sense to me. The fight scene at the end was what really made me not really like it. The story seemed to go off the rails a bit. The MC caught an arrow? Um…arrows being shot at you are not like someone throwing balls at you. They are fast. Like, some can go 200 mph fast. The MC demonstrated zero skills like that throughout the entire book, so for her to just suddenly do it? Sorry, that’s not believable for me. I could excuse the casual use of the sling where she just shot it quickly during fights, even though it made my eye twitch because the sling typically needs more than just the arm to use it, but the arrow was what I drew the line at. If an author wants their character to be believable at the big ending fight scene, demonstrate they have those skills at the beginning…
And then the twist at the end felt silly as well. There were no hints leading up to the twist, no foundation for it. The twist at the end of the first book was amazing because there was a foundation of little crumbs throughout the book hinting at it. That was lacking in this book.
I don’t know. This book just didn’t really do it for me? Not like the first one. I loved how strong of a character the MC was in the first book, but she seemed weaker in this one. Which was a shame…

I received an early release copy since I am part of the ARC team in exchange of an honest review which I am very eager to share:
First of all, I loved the first book and thought that the cliffhanger was impressive, it left me anxious for more of the story. When I received a copy of the second book I started reading the same day very excited about the continuation of the story. I was not sure what to expect about the challenges Diaspro had to face in the new competition with other girls; however, I was not expecting this bride contest to be so unique as well as the other “princesses.” Diaspro is truly an intelligent and brave young woman but what I love the most about her is that she knows that no matter how capable she may be, she will not be able to do everything on her own. She knows to recognize her own shortcomings and ask for assistance when she needs it without letting pride ruin her like many other main characters we see in stories.
I really love the slow burn in this story. There is more romance between the female and male lead in this book, I love how the relationship is building. Not in a rush, not too slow either.
Now, the ending definitely took me by surprise completely. I never expected nor could I guess what was going to happen. It left my heart so agitated (in a good way) and desperate to know what is coming in the next book. The first book was amazing and this one is just phenomenal.
I received an ARC for Fit For a Princess. Im so excited to get started. I've been ready since I read book 1 I needed answers. So this is book 2 in the Fit for a Crown series. Definitely read book one first this is a 3 part series. OMG!! WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME EVERY TIME, ABIGAIL!! Abigail is the Queen of plot twists!! I NEVER could have guessed where this story was heading. It was so unique. I loved everything!! Where do I start without spoilers. So if you read book one you know how it ended. This starts where that one ended. Diaspro is now stuck in a bride competition with "Princess" who are trying to kill her. And dealing with a competition she was supposed to fail. The person who wins gets to pick a Prince to marry. And the one in lost place forfits their life. Diaspro is amazing! i love her! She is strong and brave and actually leans on people when she needs help. Also im so happy with who her love interest turned out to be. I was hoping it would be him. I love the slow burn of their relationshipit felt genuine. They are perfect. I was absolutely not expecting that ending. I absolutely can't wait for book 3. Now I need to calm down!!
Fit For A Princess by Abigail Manning The king is furious at Diaspro for earning the princes' support by bending the rules... Usually, I bounce around a bit between books, but when I started this one, I couldn't put it down! It's not a particularly short book either, but boy, it felt like I was just flying through it! Each chapter made me want to start the next one right away! Not much I can say about the plot line for fear of spoilers, because this series has a ton of twists! So go start with book 1, Fit for a Prince. Highly recommend! Genre: Fantasy romance (no spice) Book 2 in Fit for a Crown (MUST be read in order) Favorite character: Diaspro (FMC) Favorite scene: the trial of doors
Fit For a Princess started right where the first book (with a CRAZY cliffhanger) left off, which I appreciated, and I was thrust right back into the kingdom of Aemastia.
The plot? Amazing. Characters? Phenomenal. World building? Fantastic.
BUT THE PLOT TWISTS!! 😱 Right when I thought I had reached the craziest part of the book, I was immediately proven wrong as something absolutely insane happened.
THAT ENDING!!!! The ending was crazy. Gave me chills. It was one thing after another and I was at the edge of my seat the entire time.
100% recommend if you like high stakes exciting books with no-spice romance!
I was given an ARC copy by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. (Also I am so sorry the review is so late 😭)
This amazing roller-coaster of a book picks up where book one left off (and yes, you really need to read book one first to get the most out of this one) and continues the fast paced twisty tension in a non-stop ride that will keep you guessing. Just like book one, it ends with some dramatic twists that will make you re-evaluate everything and desperate to read more. This series is definantly Ms. Manning's best to date. If you were ambivalent about her earlier books, you need to take a new look at her more recent works as her writing has improved immeasurably (and it was always pretty good to start with).
I received an ARC and voluntarily leave an honest review.
After the heart stopping end of book one, I was determined to approach this second part me with appropriate caution.
And yet, I was instantly pulled back into the intrigue and mystery. And with every page I felt more and more conflicted about who the real villains are and more and more concerned that I might not survive this series with its potiental to take out characters I didn't want to loose.
In the end, my caution and suspicion did not save me from the shocking truth dropped in the final moments of book two.
I may not survive the conclusion, but we all know I will be snagging it the moment it drops. 😆
This book! What can I say? It's amazing. Read it! This book is the second in the series, and the first absolutely has to be read before this one. It's fun, and clever, and sweet, and the stakes are so high it's hard to believe that it could be all of that and more. And that's about all I can say without spoilers. As for that ending... If you don't like cliff-hangers, this is not the book for you. The author needs to hurry up and get the next book out so I can find out what happens! This is a clean read and the editing is good. I received an ARC from the author. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so and the opinions stated are my own.
I didnt think I could be surprised again but I was wrong. I thought it might be like other "princess/bride" competitions but I was wrong. I thought nothing huge would happen in the last 2 chapters but I was wrong. I thought the cliffhanger from the first book couldn't be beat, but I was wrong. I am eagerly awaiting the next book and I cant wait to find out how this ends.... I also need to re-read both books because that's when knowing what I know now is all the more rich and layered. this is a masterpiece of storytelling and I highly reccomend it!
Holy smokes! This entire book was gripping and sometimes a little infuriating at times. But only in the best way! Seriously, Fit for A Princess is so good! The plot is definitely thickening. Many times I was hanging off the edge of my seat. The ending! I literally gasped out loud! Oh my word! Talk about plot twists! I thought I had it figured it. Nope! That was one incredible twist. I need book 3 like yesterday!
I volunteered to read an ARC copy of the book and all thoughts are my own.
Another fantastic book by none other than the Plot Twist Queen herself! I have been so drawn to the trilogy and can’t wait to see how it turns out! Between the competition, the hate radiating off the king and his desire to kill Diaspro, the yearning between the prince(s) and Diaspro, the sacrifices made and the epic “ending” just have me on the edge of my seat for the third installment to be released! If you love high stakes, no spice, all swoon, no cursing, not quite a made it to a happy ending, fast paced story, this one’s for you!
This was so infuriating IN THE BEST WAY!! After the end of Fit for a Prince, I wasn’t sure the final reveal could be topped… BOY WAS I WRONG!! I am shocked, devastated, and ramped up for the next installment in this series. Manning is phenomenal at building up the tension throughout her stories!
Ooo this book was amazingg!! I love how Diaspro learn to trust in herself and not on Damon. She also still wants to protect her own people and Aemastia. Protecting her servants and friends, even at the cost of her own life. The bride trails (executions) is so different between each other and I love it! The love interest?? I was between him and his brother😉 I just love it, he is perfect for her! ❤️ I can't wait for the last book, the plot twist was brutal!
Oh. My. Goodness. The emotions I went through while reading this sequel. Absolutely amazing and a great addition to the series/storyline. The ending had me all over the place! Mind blowing! Abigail does a tremendous job with writing plot twists. I definitely recommend reading this book after reading Fit For a Prince. Just amazing! I can’t wait for book 3!
This clean romance was full to the brim with danger, intrigue, twists, and non stop action! It was pretty bloody at the end, but I loved learning more about each of the characters as they revealed more of themselves throughout the story! There is another book coming, and I’m anxious for it to get here! I received an ARC copy and this is my review.
I couldn’t put this book down. I’ve been looking forward to this for months, and I’m not disappointed at all- unless it’s disappointed that I’m reading book two the day after it released and will be devastated until next March while I wait for book three. It’s so good. I don’t hand 5 stars out easily. This deserves all my stars!
Aghhh this book! What can I say!!! I loved the first book and I absolutely loved book2!!! I had the pleasure of getting this as an ARC and enjoyed this one sooo much and now I need book 3! She finally picks her prince, the king is just awful again and she is definitely the underdog but that ending- what????? She’s not her friend???? What!!!! Aghhhhhh!!!!!

The ending of this book absolutely left me reeling—what a stunning, jaw-dropping twist that I never saw coming. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the story completely shifted beneath me, unraveling in a way that was both shocking and brilliant. It’s the kind of ending that lingers, making you rethink everything you just read.
I THOUGHT THE PLOT TWIST WAS CRAZY IN BOOK 1 BUT ABIGAIL MANNING STEPPED UP HER GAME IN BOOK 2! *bow down to the queen of twists* *all hail the queen* The stakes are high in this book. The trials are deadly. The competition is fierce and has reason to end Diaspo's life. The tension is seeping through the pages. The emotions are burning my entire soul. I must have book 3.
"The prince may be dead, but I'm far more afraid of the princess he left behind."
This book was SO good and I need the next one now!!!!! This book had everything you could hope for after reading the first book! I'm glad I got to read it before release thanks to Kickstarter!
I really loved reading this wonderful book! I loved the characters and the plot! I had a hard time putting this really wonderful book down! I will be reading the next book in this really wonderful series!
I enjoyed this even more than the first book. Lots of twists and turns I didn’t see coming. Curse me for starting an uncompleted trilogy. Can’t believe I have to wait until March 2027 to find out how things end!
