In a cabin by a lake, a mother and father tuck their little girl into bed and kiss her goodnight. But they can’t enjoy the evening summer breeze—because this is no ordinary family on vacation. This is a family with nowhere left to run… and no one left to trust.

When FBI Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock are called to a crime scene at a remote hunting cabin, they find blood everywhere. A small pink suitcase has been left behind, filled with children’s clothes and medicine. Has a family been murdered on vacation, or did they run just in time?

The team quickly tracks down the details of the family renting the cabin. But Braddock freezes at the last name. He claims to have never heard it before… but Tori can always tell when her partner is lying.

Furious that Braddock might keep something from her when lives are at stake, when two New York City detectives show up in Minnesota with questions for Braddock her fears are proved right... because there’s a murder case in Braddock’s past he never told Tori about. It took over his life just after his wife died, and forced him out of the city for good. Why did he keep it secret?

Tori has no time for games. Tracking down suppliers of the medicine from the cabin is her one lead to find this family before it’s too late. But with fingers pointing at Braddock, and her own instincts screaming that he’d never betray her or the shield, Tori will have to put her own career on the line to defend the man she trusts above all else—and find the real killer with a deadly score to settle.

A completely gripping crime thriller from New York Times and USA Today bestseller Roger Stelljes that will leave you breathless at the final shocking twist. Anyone who loves Kendra Elliot, Charlie Donlea or Mary Stone will be addicted.

TRUST NO ONE (Agent Tori Hunter Book #8) by Roger Stelljes is an action-packed thrilling tangled web of a crime plot that intertwines flashbacks in Detective Will Braddock’s past in the NYCPD which seems to jeopardize his present life with former FBI agent Tori Hunter in Minnesota. This is the eighth book in this great series and can be easily read as a standalone, but I read the books in order to follow the two main protagonist’s growing relationship.

Detective Will Braddock gets a call from a snitch from an old case in NYC who has come to Manchester Bay for help. The case involved one of his friends from the NYPD who was killed while he worked the case because his nephew was involved. At the time, Will’s wife was dying of cancer, and he just did not want to work on it as he normally would. He refuses to get involved, but the next day Tori and Will get called to a hunting cabin riddled with bullet holes and blood everywhere, but no bodies.

Two NYC cops from Will’s past show up at the police station and accuse Will of being dirty. After leaving the station, they are both nearly killed. Tori has had enough and decides with the help of their friends to turn this hunt around and go after the hunters by becoming the hunters themselves to keep those she loves safe.

This series is amazing, and this book even topped the rest for me. I could not put it down. The book is intricately plotted and full of surprises, so I was never sure what to believe so I had to keep turning the pages. Tori is smart, strong, and intelligent and so is Will, which makes for head butting along the way, but it also is what made them attracted to each other. The beautiful descriptions of the lake they live on and all the different types of weather and terrain in Minnesota brings it to life.

This is an overall well written and very strong police procedural/crime thriller series that I highly recommend to all lovers of the genre.

with a call coming in that a car had been seen in the river its all hands on deck to get it out.... but the two bodies found in the boot could only be from their crime scene....

✅Trust No One is the 8th book in the Agent Tori Hunter series. This series is a crime fiction thriller suspense read.
Tori and Braddock are at odds because Tori feels Braddock is hiding something from her. She can tell he is lying about something.
There are so many twists and turns in the story! I had to stop, reflect back and try to get things figured out.
Overall, Trust No One was a very suspenseful and intriguing installment in the series.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Rounded up to 4.5 stars

Trust No One (Agent Tori Hunter Book 8) can easily be read as a stand alone, though I highly recommend reading the previous books. Roger Stelljes takes us on another heart pounding, thrilling adventure with former FBI agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will. Braddock. As the couple have settled down and built their lives together in Manchester Bay, Will’s past comes back to haunt him. The body count is growing, and Will doesn’t know who to trust (except Tori, of course) as he finds himself in the middle of an old cold case and new ones and tries to clear his name. A wonderful suspense that I couldn’t put down!

A new case for this dynamic duo, and it's one to write home about. At least, it seems to be a new case—until Will hears who one of the victims is, and it's as if the ground disappears from under his feet. It’s connected to his past, and he feels it's something he must resolve on his own. He doesn't want to involve Tori.

However, Tori is no fool, and to say the least, she’s not happy about it...

Bit by bit, we learn the full story, and it becomes increasingly clear just what kind of hornet’s nest Tori and Will have stumbled into. Who can they trust, and who is lying in wait to trap them?

It becomes a race against time, because the criminals are also afraid the net is closing in, and they need to act quickly.

As bullets fly around them, Will and Tori give it everything they’ve got.

The author has created some very interesting characters for this book. The villains were truly uber evil, and the good guys were brave and ready to help wherever they could.

At one point, I was holding my breath—this time not so much from the suspense itself, but because of Tori’s reaction. I wanted to scream at her: “Tori, you can’t be serious…!!!”

This book is the perfect combination of suspense, investigation, and action. I found it to be a complex story that demands your full attention. Buckle up and enjoy! 5 stars.

Thank you.

There's not many authors that can steal my mind and force me to nearly physically enter another world; Roger Stelljes is one of these authors. As my dishes pile up, laundry sits unfolded, and the rest of the house and family goes on being ignored, Stelljes thrusts me into another Tori Hunter adventure.

Murder is upon Manchester Bay, leaving behind a bullet-ridden and bloody crime scene but no bodies... yet. Tori Hunter and Will Broddock are drawn into the death of an NYPD officer killed in their jurisdiction and a case that goes back nearly a decade. Going down a rabbit hole, trying to find the killer, Tori's trust in her boyfriend and the New York police department is shaken after she and her loved ones become a target of the killer.

There's only one way to escape the crosshairs of the killer pursuing her and Will; become the predator. With the help of their friends, a few well placed lies, and strong perseverance they charge ahead to uncover the truth that's been hiding entirely too long. The couple needs to ensure the threat is eliminated so the lives of their loved ones are once again safe.

Just when you think the Tori Hunter series can't get any better, Stelljes proves to you it can! I've lived every book in this series, but I'm thinking this is by far the most riveting and on my top 3 list! I can't wait to enter Hunter's world once again!

This latest installment takes the stakes to a new level by making the case deeply personal for Detective Will Braddock. What begins as a horrifying scene at a remote Minnesota cabin quickly unravels into something far more dangerous, dragging Braddock’s past into the open and putting strain on the partnership at the heart of the series. The introduction of the Ramirez connection reveals that Braddock hasn’t been fully honest with Tori, and the resulting tension adds a sharp emotional edge to the investigation.

The story forces both Tori and Braddock out of their comfort zone—literally taking them back to New York, and not exactly in an official capacity. The change of setting amplifies the danger, as old wounds resurface and trust is put to the ultimate test.

It’s a gripping, emotional, and at times frustrating read—in the best possible way. The writing is sharp and immersive, the pacing relentless, and the emotional undercurrents make it impossible to put down. This isn’t just a thriller; it’s a story that gets under your skin and lingers, reminding you that the past is never truly buried.

An intense, entertaining, and moving addition to the series.

I have come to look forward to every book this author writes.
This series featuring Special Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock is even more pulse pounding than their last in this series.
Driven by an unsolved cold case of a dead detective, corrupt cops and a tightly woven plot, Trust No One is exactly that tense suspense I enjoy.
Especially when Tori is unsure if she can trust even her own partner.
But you can trust to expect murder, running for your life, corruption and satisfaction of a suspenseful book well written. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the gifted copy for no remuneration. The comments in this review are my personal opinion.

I finished this book last night but I needed to let it marinate.

If I could give this book more than 5 ⭐️ I would. This was OUTSTANDING. Off the charts good!!!

I have loved this entire series. And while there have a very small few that left me feeling some kind of way. I’m addicted to these characters in this small town. Braddock & Hunter are a dynamic duo. And this book brought me back to the beginning of the series when I was entranced. From page one it was a ride and man it kept getting wilder. Braddock’s back story was so well thought out and truly riveting. I could not put this book down. And am I so sad I am done. I’m so looking forward to more.

Roger Stelljes has done an OUTSTANDING job at character development, human error (life happens) and forgiveness. If you are a fan of crime thrillers. This series is a MUST READ. Especially if you are of a fan of authors like Lisa Regan. She is a favorite and he is quickly joining her. This series has it all…mystery, suspense, characters that you can’t get enough of plus a bit of romance. My favorite part of this series is the dynamic between Tori and Will.

Read this series. You won’t be sorry.

This is a brilliant series, and Roger Stelljes is an incredible author who really knows how to tell a story. These great two cops, Braddock and Hunter, are now a couple, living together in Minnesota with Braddock’s son Quinn. This is another excellent crime book filled with a fabulous cast of supporting characters that really increase the depth of the plot. I always find that once I open one of these authors’ books I am done for until I turn the last page and this was no exception. Braddock finds himself in a very deep hole and with ramifications from a case from with eight years ago coming back to haunt him. If you like action and suspense along with a well thought out storyline this is the series for you. Highly recommended.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.

Trust No One is the eighth installment in the gripping Tori Hunter series, and it’s an absolute powerhouse of suspense and intrigue. From the very first chapter, the tension is palpable. This time, the spotlight shifts slightly to Detective Will Braddock, whose past in New York City resurfaces in a way that threatens everything he’s built. When an old informant reaches out to Braddock for help, his initial instinct is to refuse. But curiosity and perhaps a sense of unfinished business, pushes him to agree to a meeting.

What follows is a chilling twist: the informant never shows, and soon after, Braddock and Tori are called to a remote cabin where the informant has been brutally murdered. This shocking discovery sets off a chain of events that drags Braddock deep into a dangerous game, forcing him to confront secrets he thought were buried forever. It’s the first domino in a series of revelations that make this book impossible to put down.

The pacing is relentless, packed with action and emotional stakes that keep you turning pages late into the night. The author masterfully uses Braddock’s past as the backbone of the plot, weaving it into the present in a way that feels both organic and thrilling. The dynamic between Tori and Braddock adds another layer of complexity. There’s tension, trust issues, and moments that make you question how far loyalty can stretch under pressure.

What I loved most is how the story balances high-octane suspense with character depth. You’re not just reading about a murder investigation; you’re watching Braddock navigate personal demons while trying to stay ahead of a ruthless adversaries. By the time I reached the final chapters, If you’re a fan of crime thrillers that deliver both heart-pounding action and emotional resonance, Trust No One is a must-read. Thank you to NeGalley, Roger Stelljes, and Bookouture for a free advanced readers copy for an honest review.

From the very first page, this book had me hooked.

The title itself fully embodies the definition of this book.. Trust No One!

Book #8 in the Agent Tori Hunter series is mainly centred around Will Braddocks' past. Tori thought she knew everything about her partner, whether work life or homelife, but she knows he's hiding something. Can she trust him, knowing he's not being honest with her?

Will is called to a scene and brings Tori along. Arriving at a secluded hunting cabin, they try to figure out what has happened. With blood everywhere but no bodies, they've got their work cut out. And then Will overhears the name Ramirez, and he's transported back to the past, his last case with the NYC, one he's tried his best to forget.

In a past case, Will had taken his eye off the ball when, at the same time, his wife was dying. A colleague and friend was killed, and people were threatened, including Will, and the case went cold. Now, an old informant has come looking for Will, wanting to right a wrong.

When two NYC officers from Will's past turn up accusing him of being a dirty cop, he'll do anything to prove them wrong and when on leaving the station both himself and Tori are nearly killed, he realises he's against the clock.

Tori's trust in Will may have been shaken, but they are now in the firing line of the killer and she will do anything to uncover the truth, even if the truth isn't what she wants to hear.

Completely and utterly unputdownable. Tense, gripping, and thrilling in every sense. It is an absolute rollercoaster of a plot that comes together with a perfect ending.

Whilst I highly recommend reading the whole series if you haven't already, this can actually be easily read as a standalone.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

4.5⭐️

Buckle up, as Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock return in a gripping story that perfectly embodies its title: Trust No One.

As Braddock's backstory is captivatingly told through an old case that resurfaces, haunting him and leaving Tori with questions—questions Braddock struggles to answer without jeopardising her safety or that of his son, Quinn.

However, he knows he must find a way. Tori has a keen sense of deception and won't allow Braddock to avoid the truth, especially when there is a crime scene and a missing family to contend with. And when two NYPD detectives show up asking Braddock questions, Tori's worst fears are confirmed.

But no matter what the evidence shows or what these two detectives say, Tori knows Braddock isn't a bad cop or a killer, and she's determined to prove it. Even if that means calling in all the favours she has with her friends and colleagues in New York.

And with bullets flying, danger lurking around every corner, and numerous secrets unfolding, Trust No One is an exhilarating read. But I found some of the character names confusing and occasionally lost track of who was who and whether they were a goodie or a badie. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic addition to the series, and I can’t wait for book 9.

I would gladly recommend Trust No One to crime fiction fans everywhere.

My thanks to Bookouture for the opportunity to read an early copy of Trust No One. All thoughts expressed are my own, 😊

Unputdownable. There's no other way to describe this book!

When FBI Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock arrive at a hunting cabin in the middle of nowhere, they’re met with a terrible scene, blood everywhere and a small pink suitcase filled with children’s clothing and medicine. What happened to the family that was in the cabin?

As the investigation progresses, a name emerges that shakes Braddock, and while he claims it means nothing to him, Tori doesn't believe him. When detectives from New York show up with their agenda, Braddock’s past threatens to unravel everything.

This book is tense, twisty, and had me on the edge of my seat more than once. It’s gripping, emotional, and at times made me want to chuck the kindle out of the window, because you really form a connection with the characters and are invested in the difficult choices they must make.

The writing is immersive, the pacing is relentless, and the emotions are so rooted and go so deep that they make it impossible to put down.

Trust No One (Agent Tori Hunter Book 8) by Roger Stelljes has an intriguing setup: a family that may have been involved in something sinister leaves behind a haunting scene filled with blood and unanswered questions.

However, while the initial concept drew me in, the story didn't come together for me. There were many characters to keep track of, who was involved with whom, previous plots, and backstory that were difficult (even though I've read other books in this series). The backstory involving Braddock's past adds some tension, but sometimes the pacing slows down the investigation's momentum.

Overall, Trust No One is a good read, especially if you enjoy crime thrillers. I would suggest starting from Book 1 so you aren't lost with the characters or previous storylines.

This may be the first book I've read in this series, but I feel like I have a pretty good idea of who Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Will Braddock are at their core. Although, I must say that when Braddock refused to help a guy who has been on the run from bad guys for eight years, it did cause me to pause and wonder what the deal was.

I love how the events that happened 8 years ago were slowly revealed as the story progressed. It's clear that Tori and Will know each other well and how even when she was justified in being mad at him, she still considered his caution to think about what was happening.

There is plenty of heart-stopping action, suspense, danger, loyalty, betrayal, and so much more in this story. I love that while Will is principled, he was also shown to be human with limits to what he could handle.

I didn’t want to put this one down. I thoroughly enjoy Tori’s character and I love the relationship she’s built with Will. When she gets involved in a missing person’s case near where they live, suddenly Will’s name is tossed around and Tori starts questioning everything.

I love a good cop/corrupt cop situation and I was sucked into this one wanting to know who was to blame for the choices made in this book. I didn’t like that Will kept things from Tori, but I get why he did, and it definitely adds to the story.

Even though this is a series, it can be read as a standalone, every book is based on a different case, although you miss some of the backstory without reading them all in order (I haven’t read the whole series yet myself).

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of this book.

Gone but not forgotten!😧

Oodles of suspense and a complex plot, reeling Tori Hunter's man Braddock back into a complex unsolved murder case from his days in the NYPD. Tori has questions about Braddock keeping secrets from her but ultimately supports him and ends up fielding danger right along with him.

The action is full-on and such a web of cover-ups and attempts to eliminate any loose ends, including possible witnesses, by a shadowy set of assassins who've been fooling the New York police for years. It kept me excited and reading into the night.

Another excellent reading adventure from Roger Stelljes, an author I just recently discovered.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Will Braddock and Tori Hunter are called to a scene at a cabin where blood has been found everywhere but there are no bodies. It looks like a family with a child was staying at the cabin but what happened to them. Were they murdered or have they run? When a name is finally mentioned in regards to the scene it makes Braddock take a pause. He says the name is not familiar but Tori can tell he is lying so what is he hiding? Soon detectives from New York show up asking questions about an old case Braddock worked. Tori knows she has to figure out what is going on with Braddock and how it relates to their case. Follow along and see where the clues take her and see if she figures out just what Braddock is hiding.

Another fantastic book in the Agent Tori Hunter series by Roger Stelljes and they just keep getting better. They are definitely action packed mystery thrillers that pull you in right from the start. Who would have thought that something from eight years ago would come back to haunt Will. Maybe not haunt, more like try to kill him. And he’s never told Tori about that time period. Now they are in the crosshairs of an investigation and people wanting him dead. The story is full of plot twists and has you wondering if things are going to work out. Stelljes is a master at weaving the human element into his story line so that you can relate to his characters. And what an ending! Fantastic job! Looking forward to the next one.

Another good one

Roger has quickly become one of my favorite authors. This one kept my interest throughout the entire book, with a few exceptions. There were just too many flashbacks for my taste. I'd much rather read a book in chronological order. Perhaps using a prologue instead? The other thing is just my personal pet peeve I suppose, being a retired teacher. But I just don't understand why authors and their editors can't figure out how to use I/me, he/him, and she/her correctly. It's just not "rocket surgery!" I lost count of the number of times this occurred. Alas. But don't that stop you from reading this book!

I know this book came out a while back but I just managed to finish it. I received the ARC for this. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the other books in this series but something about this one from the beginning just didn't work for me. I think I simply didn't like the story line. It's completely me and no way, shape, or form on the author. I'm just not a fan. Not remotely believable for a story line in my opinion if you have read any of the other books in the series. I enjoyed the book once I let myself just embrace it and ignore the issues I had with the story line. I would indeed recommend for anyone else to read.

This is my first Tori Hunter book although I have the others in the series.
I did wonder if Braddock had turned to the dark side when things got rough in NYC.
One scene was particularly intense and I did enjoy the way Braddock reacted to a weasel’s prodding.
Tori was very pragmatic for most of the book but I think how she reacted about Cardi and Braddock was understated and there would have been more jealousy.
There’s lots of action in a couple of cities as a cross country search ensues!
Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for the advance copy.

Trust No One explains a lot of what happened in Will's past and places him in a position to find the truth and the culprits even though it'll be another scandal for the NYPD. His relationship with Tori will suffer at the beginning of the case but once she learns everything he had been hiding and trying to forget she'll be the driving force to deal with the crooked cops. The story is fast-paced, it has a great plot and it's full of suspense and action. It's one of the best books in the series, highly recommended!
I thank the author, his publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

I absolutely love Will and Tori's relationship!

Every time I think this is the best one of the series and you up it again!! This story tied in a lot of past history just perfectly. It explained in detail the awful pain of losing someone you loved, the effects of not being 100% there and the power of forgiveness. Yes my heart was pounding as they chased down the two last criminals with all the innocent people around them. All I can say is well done and looking forward to Book 9!

very wordy

I found this book hard to follow from the start…. There were so many names thrown out in the first few chapters it was hard to keep up with who was who and what their role was. Although the story line was good it was just hard to sustain my attention. The descriptions of situations were very drawn out and just too much. Details on things that didn’t support the story. It got to the point where I had to start skipping paragraphs or pages and would find I was still reading a description of where I left off.

never ceases to amaze me

Stelljes never fails to amaze me with his work. I started this series by finding the first one for free. Tori’s growth from the first book to now is an emotional roller coaster. Then Braddock came in the picture and it was a double emotional hit. I love how even though all the cases change with each book the characters and relationship still continue to grow. I highly recommend this series and author for a good detective mystery. The story is never ending in the best way. The twist and turns hit when you least expect it.

A new case in the Hunter and Braddock series finds the duo investigating a case from Braddock's past. This is a fast paced thriller with plenty of action which I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend the whole series. I am loving the developing characterisation, I can't get enough of this pair, and the Minnesota setting just adds to the plotting. An engaging, engrossing read from one of my favourite writers in the thriller genre. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
