Emma Thomas, the brilliant mind behind the nationwide dating app Charmed, built her platform for both romantics and skeptics alike. But despite her success, her own love life is complicated. Back in college, her godmother believed Charlie Wentworth wasn’t good enough. In short, he was broke with no job. So she persuaded Emma to break things off, fearing he’d hold her back. Now, Charlie is a bestselling author with a Hollywood deal and a political thriller to his name. But he’s been struggling with stubborn writer’s block and trying to find his creative spark again. Although he’s achieved incredible success, he’s still haunted by what they lost. Emma was the one who let him go, and their paths keep crossing, sparking fiery arguments that he secretly loves. With their story still unwritten, both wonder if they might finally get the ending they’ve been dreaming of.
Lovely read about second chances. Might have been better with more pages, as it felt rushed, but all in all it was a good read. I resonate with Emma more than I'd like to lol Charlie is a charmer sure, but I loved that he wasn't your usual cocky, emotionally blind male lead. I also loved that he had self respect and wasn't just pining for the female lead.
I would have preferred more depth and more detail, but the story was mostly character driven, so that explains the smaller space reserved to action.
It was a lovely read, definitely a good choice if you're looking for something cute that will make you swoon without breaking you first lol
note: Goodreads doesn't allow half votes, but to me this book is a 3.5
I have read so many of TL Combs books and I will say this she never disappoints. I read alot of dark and spicy romance and she is a go to for a good palette cleanser. This Second chance romcom was fantastic. The banter between Emma and Charlie had me laughing out loud. Oh and as much as these too wanted everyone and each other to know they wanted nothing to do with one another, the tension between these too you could cut with a knife. If you are looking for a great story TL Combs never fails to give it to you!
