Dead in the South is the explosive sequel to Dead in the Ice, picking up immediately after the events in Antarctica.
Aaron McNamara and the surviving crew have made it to the South Island of New Zealand, hoping for safety — or at least answers. Instead, they find a country in ruins. The infection has spread. Civilization has collapsed. And what’s left may be even worse than what they left behind.
As they push north through the wreckage, the group must navigate violent survivors, dwindling supplies, and a landscape teeming with the dead. For Aaron, survival means more than just staying alive — it means protecting those he loves, no matter the cost.
⚠️ Perfect for fans ofThe Last of Us, 28 Days Later, and The Walking Dead 🌏 A raw, relentless zombie survival thriller set in a devastated New Zealand
They escaped Antarctica. But can they survive the South?
I’m Danny Mac, a storyteller drawn to apocalyptic worlds, survival against the odds, and the resilience of the human spirit. I write fast-paced, immersive fiction that explores what happens when everything falls apart—and what it takes to rebuild.
My passion for storytelling comes from a love of science fiction, survival narratives, and the raw struggle between hope and despair. I enjoy creating stories that push characters to their limits, forcing them to adapt, fight, and find meaning in a fractured world.
First time reading a book by this author. I was worried by starting on book 2 that I wouldn't follow the story but didn't have to worry.
All through the book it gives you hints as to what happened in the first book, so you can kinda follow the story easy enough.
Total different concept to normal zombie books where people are hold up somewhere. Being constantly on the move and facing the threats that they do is brilliant.
I got shook right at the start with an unexpected moment. Even near the end there's a moment that is heartbreaking. The group in the book just don't get a minute.
Loved every second of this book and will be keeping an eye out for more from this author.
I liked the plot and the energy. There are some mismatches with the characters that are a little annoying. One character just meets another but later talks as if they had been friends since the beginning. Just little minor details but otherwise a very nice read.
I truly enjoyed this book. With each book it gets better. It's kept me on my toes and had me in suspense. I cant wait to see what the 3rd book has in store for us
