I was so honored when given the opportunity to read this as an ARC!

I knew nothing of Norse Mythology and felt I learned so much!

My heart immediately felt for the FMC and her story and when her entire world change it was something to see unfold!

The authors writing style is so vivid and fluid. I envisioned every world/land she built and all the characters!

I loved the FMC relationship with Helene and of course Heim!

Damn you Loki!!! That cliff hanger! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

I read a lot of fantasy.. and per usual I have to get through a few chapters before deciding how the rest is going to go. When I tell yall this book pulled me IN.. I couldn’t put it down. The writing , the story, the ENDING?! I can’t put into enough words how amazing everything is. Heim is absolutely my favorite for sure!

This book.. i have no words, and so many words. It is fantastic, poetic, vulnerable, strong, thorough, i can go on and on about it and how much i absolutely adore it!
Being brought up on the mythology and lore, it made me beyond happy to actually feel how much thought and research went into writing the book. There were tears, snot, and so so many feelings.

Vala is strong, determined, so caring and loyal. She puts her family and loved ones before herself, and does whatever it takes to make sure they are safe. Vala and Heimdall’s chemistry is electric, tender and honest. I loved watching them learn about each other and what they could become if they let down the walls around their hearts.

Loki can please burn in Hel, thank you very much!

Overall, this is my first 6 star book. I adored the book, the writing is phenomenal, the storyline is gripping and the characters are deep and well-developed. My heart mourned and cheered with them, and I know this is a book that will stay with me forever.

The banter between characters feels natural and often laugh-out-loud funny, adding charm and levity to the tension of their quest. Vala’s journey is both epic and personal, and her growing bond with her new companions makes the stakes feel all the more real.

The only downside? The cliffhanger ending. It’s a good one—but now I’m impatiently waiting for the next book! Still, if you’re in the mood for a fun, mythology-fueled fantasy with heart, humor, and high stakes, this one delivers.

Ok I’m going to start off by saying Norse Mythology isn’t normally my thing but when I got to the Odin and Thor and Loki stuff all I could think of was The Avengers and the Marvel crowd. Now time for some thoughts on the book.. it was a great read and kept me completely engaged and entertained. I’m completely ready for the next book because clearly Vala isn’t done just yet with the prophecy. Heim is the dream protector and Helene is the kind of best friend everyone needs in their life! Oh and Nana Frigg!! You guys! That woman is wise and kind but also a no nonsense gal! There is a line in the book that made a connection with me so I’m sharing it with you: “If I could give you any advice, my dear, it would be to keep things fresh. When things become too normal, relationships tend to go awry. We are curious, creative, and caring and must foster those traits. We can also be callous, cold, and comfortable. We must strive to avoid those. I call it the rule of C’s.”

I really enjoyed this story! I don’t know much about mythology so I was worried I wouldn’t know what was going on. But I ended up loving it. I didnt want to put it down because I wanted to know what was happening. It’s a beautiful storyline. And beautifully written. Vala lost her parents at a young age. She ends up in foster care. When she is 17 she has a dream and when she wakes up her life changes. She meets so many amazing people. She realizes that she isn’t alone anymore. She is more powerful than she ever knew. I def recommend if you like beautiful stories about mythology gods and monsters. Strong female characters and strong bonds. And a sweet romance develops and it’s just so touching. Also, it ends with a very unexpected cliffhanger. I can’t wait for book 2!

I gave this 5 stars(10 stars if I could) as I absolutely fell in love with this story. I was flipping pages so fast as I needed to know what happened next. It was so captivating and pulled me right in! I loved all the references and humor throughout this entire book as it had me laughing out loud at times then had me gasping, OMG! There was adventure, love and gripping battles, and seeing the growth with the main FMC was truly amazing. Vala and Heim will forever hold a special place in my heart. I am already needing more as this was so beautifully written! Thank you C.M.Sinner for allowing me to read this beautiful story, I loved it!!!

One thing about the book is that it is fast paced, but it’s a good pace to where you’re actually knowing what’s happening and learning about the mythologically without it dragging on. Helene is my favorite character her sassy and personality just make me laugh. Love her friendship with Vala. However, it does end on a very big cliffhanger and when I was not expecting that. Overall a good book and would recommend if you want something you can’t put down!

Omg!!! I LOVED this book so much! I love mythology and I’m obsessed with Vikings and this book is the best of both! The main character Vala is so inspiring! To see where she started and go along her journey with her is so amazing! I love the friendships she developed along the way and really became a strong independent woman! And Hiem!!!! Talk about book boyfriend material! The only bad thing is the waiting time for the next book!

As someone who does not read YA I can honestly say I love this book- I can’t wait until the second one is out. I will be buying the physical copies and I recommend this book for everyone. It made me laugh and cringe in the best ways, if I cried I would have. I binge read On the Wings of a Word in about 5 hours, it is a must read.

On wings of a word was a clever combination of norse mythology. Vala is a steadfast heroine never willing to be afraid or held back by others. The book gives new meaning to the phrase "the pen is mightier than the sword". It has a very straightforward love story and one heck of an ending, those last few pages definitely left me waiting for the next book.

C.M. Sinner's debut novel feels like she hasn't left anything out. She managed to get a little of everything from love and sadness, this world and far beyond, action, friendship and so much more. I laughed and cried and NEED more. I didn't see the cliffhanger at the end coming and now I need to wait...? I recommended this book no matter what age you are!

I genuinely love a good retelling and this Norse mythology retelling was sooo good. follow 17yr old Vala as she finds out who she really is and how she's connected to a prophecy that she never expected. Full of found family, sacrifice, love, and a sense of belonging with some twists and turns that almost nobody can expect.

The book was great it starts off with a girl in high school who’s parents died. She then gets thrown into a Norse world where she has the power to either help save them or let them fall. It’s a great story and I will definitely be reading the next book once it’s out!

outside of my usual dark romance i was always into fantasy before I fell into the dark romance never escaping tunnel.
so thats why I gave this one a go

boy am I glad I did.
from the prologue I was hooked.
its hard to do with me for books. but yup

I instantly fell in love with Vala and adored her relationship with Helene and when she meets Heim .. offt!

although its based off real norse mythology, the way you tweeked it to fulfill your storyline was beautiful.

your writing is done with such delicate intrigue and your depictions to detailing blew me away.

you destroyed me and put me back together so many times in this book but damn that cliffhanger.
