I really did enjoy this story. It was completely not what i was expecting but in a good way. And its not normally a story I would not usually read but i did very much enjoy this one. In this story it follows Lisa, who is a cherished daughter of a powerful Chinese Party leader, as she goes through life trying to find herself. You also meet an American, James, who has his own complex issues and he is in love with Lisa. Throughout the story you follow these two people who are from completely different worlds and they are madly in love with each other but of course family expectations, and politics put stressors on the relationship. The way the author wrote the characters and love story does seem like real life and believable. I also enjoyed learning about Chinese history. I highly recommend if you are looking for something different and unexpected and if you want a story about finding one self and finding true love.
