Stranded at the edge of the galaxy, I’ll do anything to return to Earth! But first, I’m stolen right before my escape plan and dragged through the alien wilderness. Now, I’m payment for a medic… who doesn’t even want me!

Vasek can’t wait to drop me off at his next destination, if we even make it there alive. The ruthless thugs after us seem to think I’m the key to untold fortunes. But I’m not! I’m just a girl who wants to go home.

The hyper-protective medic isn’t just my best bet for survival; his chiseled form sets my body ablaze, and his kindness fills my soul with hope. And the more time I spend with Vasek, the more I wonder if Earth is really where I want to be.

This action-packed and steamy romance can be read as a standalone or as part of a series. HEA guaranteed.

Although the blurb mentions this can be read as a standalone, I think you will definitely enjoy it more knowing the history of the Tallean characters that make appearances in this story if you read the books in order! And why not - as this is another great addition to a great series!
Vasek, a former Dominion soldier, is living a rather lonely existence as an independent medic, and although he deals with some very dangerous people in his line of work and believes his family cursed, underneath his hardened exterior, he is still a good man. Dawn, having been a slave for almost all of her adult life, has been smart enough to survive her captivity and dreams of nothing more than returning home to Earth. When the two meet and are forced into fleeing together, the attraction between them starts a bond that neither of them wants - or do they?
A Mate for Vasek is an exciting read with nonstop action and a sweet HEA that I couldn’t put down!

This book pulled me in from the very first page—and didn’t let go. The worldbuilding was immersive without being overwhelming, and what really stuck with me was how human it all felt, even set against the backdrop of an alien world.

Dawn’s story is one we've seen before. After being abducted from Earth, her mistrust, her emotional walls, her instinct to survive first and feel later—it all felt real. She’s not your typical damsel; she’s been through hell and is still standing, even if she’s not sure how to let anyone close. I empathized with her in every chapter. Her trauma wasn’t romanticized—it was raw, believable, and deeply personal.

Then there’s Vasek. The last thing he wanted was a fated mate, especially given the curse hanging over his family like a shadow. Watching him struggle with the pull he feels toward Dawn—wanting to protect her, but refusing to give in to the bond—was incredibly compelling. His reluctance made sense. It wasn’t about being cold; it was about fear, legacy, and trying not to ruin something that mattered.

What I loved most was how their relationship unfolded with tension, care, and eventually, trust. The humor between them felt like sunlight breaking through the clouds of their respective pasts. And yes, the steam? Totally worth the wait—intense, earned, and full of emotional weight.

The side characters, many from previous books, added richness without stealing the spotlight. They showed up when it counted, helped carry the tension, and gave the story a sense of connection across worlds and relationships. Each POV shift moved the story forward with purpose, never just filler.

There’s action, heartache, healing, and a HEA that felt earned—not just delivered on cue. This is a standalone, but it made me want to go back and read the earlier stories too. Because if they’re anything like this one, I’m in for an unforgettable ride.

Vasek, the Tallean medic who will gladly patch up anyone provided they follow his rules, is up and his special someone is a human lady who is not in the best shape when she slides into his orbit. Mostly because she's been stolen from her most recent owner and her current owner is not a good guy. I mean, he doesn't see the point in having Vasek cure what ills her AND he's dragging her through the wilderness in an attempt to escape the group he stole her from.

Fortunately for Dawn, Vasek IS a good guy. Given her experiences with other Talleans, she doesn't believe that at first, but Vasek fixes her up and manages to get her out of immediate danger. Sure, they end up holed up in one of his safe houses (or safe caves/overhangs, I guess), but he keeps her safe and rescues her from what could have been a terrible situation.

As for Vasek, he has it in his head that his bloodline is cursed and things will end VERY badly for any male who forms a mate bond form his family. So he does his level best to try to keep that from happening with Dawn. Let me tell you something: it doesn't matter how hard they fight it, the mate bond always wins in the end.

A little danger, some one-on-one time in the wilds, a harsh dose of reality about the current circumstances back on Earth, complicated family ties, a male who can't fight a mate bond no matter what he thinks, and a lady who has to recalibrate her expectations once she meets a Tallean worth knowing. *thumbs up*

Stranded at the edge of the galaxy, Dawn will do anything to get back to Earth.
But just as Dawn's escape plan is within reach, she is stolen and dragged through a hostile alien wilderness—only to be traded as payment to a medic who clearly wants nothing to do with her.

Vasek is cold, distant, and determined to leave Dawn behind.
He’s focused on survival, not on the strange girl suddenly in his care. But danger follows them at every turn, and the ruthless thugs chasing them believe Dawn holds the key to unimaginable riches. They’re wrong—Dawn is just a woman desperate to go home.

Yet in the chaos, Vasek becomes Dawn's anchor. His fierce protectiveness shields her, his quiet strength steadies her—and his touch sparks a fire Dawn never expected. Beneath his hardened exterior is a man who sees the real Dawn, who listens, who cares. And the more time they spend together, the more Dawn begin to question everything—including whether Earth is truly where she belong.

This standalone sci-fi romance features beloved characters from previous stories, including Dawn and Vasek, who find themselves in more than one sticky situation. Told through dual POVs, their journey is packed with heart-pounding twists, emotional depth, and a slow-burning connection that will leave you breathless.

This one was on par with the rest of the books I have read in the series. I think for this particular world I prefer the novellas. This couple was very much not my favorite in the series. While I liked Vasek I felt that too much time was spent with him being indecisive because of the mate curse when Dawn's character left so much room for him to not pursue her because all she wanted was to return to earth. I much prefer the dudes who are gung ho about wooing their mate. They are much funnier and make the books way more entertaining for me.

Dawn was......willfully ignorant? Kinda stupid? Acting like a child? Or maybe a combination of those 3 things. Like I kind of get where she is coming from but even before she ran into Vasek free humans told her that returning to earth was a suicide mission and her response was fuck yeah at least I'll die at home. Vasek walks in on her screaming that all she wants is to return to earth and then she's heartbroken that he doesn't ask her to stay with him. Then when he takes steps to try and claim her she runs away crying. She felt like an extremely inconsistent character all throughout the book.

This series is very hit or miss for me but I will continue to read them if the author continues to write them.

Vasek usually lives in Vosthea but has been keeping a low key in New Rhea. Then a client comes to his door with a female who smells wonderful.
Dawn is with the Tallean because they are both on the run...her from her former master and he from the males sent to find her. Both had been injured on the run. Now here she is at a doctor not sure she'll be treated.
Dawn and the male who now "owned" her are at the place where Vasek treats patients. When he's done with the male he works on the female. Then he gets a call from the front desk about a group here to talk to him. When he returns to his room he is furious with the male. After a fight, the other male leaves without Dawn. Now they are on his ship going to a place to hide a while. He has decided that he needs to block her scent to keep a mate bond forming.
Then Dawn decides to leave Vasek to try to meet up with other females who has a ship and are heading to earth. Dawn is found and Vasek comes to her rescue. But will he let a mate bond form or let her go?
A story that is full of action and a misguided male who doesn't think he deserves a mate. Men!!!!.

- SciFi romance
- Protector
- Close proximity
- Fated mates

I really enjoy the Tallean series and this book was no exception. The MMC, Vasek, is a loner and will do anything to avoid having a mate after seeing how that has gone badly for most of the males in his family. He lives a simple, solitary life as a travelling medic, treating all forms of life without taking any sides.

All this changes when a repeat patient arrives with a human woman in tow...one that is sick, but clearly not being cared for. The Tallean brings trouble to Vasek's door, which is one of Vasek's big no nos. When the Tallean escapes, but leaves the human, Vasek feels strangely protective of her.

Now Vasek and Dawn are on the run as some Talleans think Dawn has information that will lead them to great wealth. She doesn't, but they don't believe her. All Dawn wants is a chance to escape back to Earth...and she'll bide her time until the perfect opportunity arises...

Will Vasek be able to resist this intriguing woman or is he destined to the same fate as the rest of his family?.

Vasek is working as an independent medic in the outer planets. It’s a rough world but it suits him since he will never have a mate. The males of his family are cursed. When they find their mates they are always rejected causing them to go insane. He is resigned to his fate. But when he treats a male on the run he gets left with the human slave. He doesn’t know what to do with her but promises her freedom and that he will deliver her to a safe place to live.

Dawn was kidnapped from earth and sold as a slave many years ago. Her one hope during that time was to try and get back to earth no matter how long it took. Even when other humans told her how bad earth had become, she didn’t believe them. She see’s this as her chance and tries to run. But that has unintended consequences for both her and Vasek.

It’s a dangerous and wild journey for both of these two. Will they finally realize what they are both seeking is right in front of them before it’s too late!.

The world building in this book is very detailed.  The book itself is a page-turner, with non-stop action, adventure, steam and intriguing characters. The MCs are likeable and we get to spend time with characters from previous books. Dawn is a human who was captured from Earth by Talleans and who has been passed from one owner to another. So it's not a surprise that it takes her awhile to believe Vasek when he says he doesn't own her. She's smart and resourceful and she only wants to go back to Earth. Vasek is a Tallean medic who is trying to avoid a mate bond, which is difficult to do when one is in close quarters with the person they're trying to avoid. Dawn likes him, as he is kind and handsome, even though his protective fits of rage can be scary at first. I enjoyed their interactions and their changing relationship, especially the moments of danger when Vasek was the fierce defender. This is another great series of books by this creative author.

Vasek is a gruff but principled medic who doesn't believe in owning other sentient beings. His initial encounter with Dawn, a human woman treated as property, immediately sets the stage for a great story. He is committed to Dawn's safety and autonomy, even as she fights his growing feelings for her and despite his own deeply rooted fears about a supposed family curse that threatens any mate bond and his sanity.

Dawn is a resilient and hopeful FMC. Her desire to return to Earth, fueled by stubborn optimism even in the face of warnings from multiple people, is very relatable. Sometimes you just need to see things for yourself.

The tension and chemistry between Vasek and Dawn as they navigate their growing feelings amid external dangers and their personal struggles create a thrilling dynamic. Their journey is a touching reminder that love can blossom in unexpected places and has the power to help us confront our deepest fears.

loved it !! love this series !! love Dawn and Vasek... this is their story... a fun fast paced action packed drama... Dawn just wants to go home to Earth... many say it's too late... it's horrible beyond belief... there is no going back... she's been abducted and sold as a slave and stolen too many times.. she's so over it !! Vasek is a traveling medic ... mostly to those that can't go to a real medic or clinic because of being criminals... the last being that stole her ... dragged her thru the dangerous jungle and thru a muddy river... she is almost dead by the time they get to Vasek's makeshift clinic... he refuses to pay to make her better, luckily she has a gem sewn on her dress that is real and she gives this to Vasek... trouble comes knocking... and they flee together, just the two of them... he says he will drop her off somewhere that is safe and leave her there... then, he kisses her back... so good !!!.

These books keeps getting better and better. This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Vasek met Dawn when she was really sick after being on the run with her "Master" who is running from a group of men that he screwed over and stole from. They were also after Dawn as they were under the impression she had access to something they wanted that their old boss had. Vasek felt instant attraction to this little woman and he felt protective of her and as much as he kept trying to run away from those feelings he still found himself wanting to be near her. The chemistry between these two was so instant and so much fun to read about. I was hooked instantly and so enjoyed this story. Lynnea is so good with writing a story that grabs you and stays with you days after!! I loved every moment of this book and so can't wait to see what else she has in store for us with this series!!

I loved the worldbuilding. I could emphasize with what Dawn has gone through after being abducted from Earth. Her struggles and not trusting any one.
Vasek wasn't looking for a fated mate, especially because of the family curse. I loved reading the way his perspective slowly changed. He was protective of Dawn, but didn't want a bond. He had a good reason.
Loved the humor, and yes there is steam to the eventual romance. Action from the first page to the delicious HEA for them.
This is a standalone which includes characters from previous stories. Which I also liked . Helping Dawn and Vasek when they got into more than one sticky situation. POV of each progressing the story. Loved the twists.
I loved reading Vasek and Dawn's story.

This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, escaping thugs/slavery, unexpected mate, male alien medic (Vasek)/female human organiser (Dawn), steamy sci fi romance. I sympathised with Dawn’s desire to return home. I enjoyed her persistence and resilience, and her determination to create her own space. I empathised with Vasek’s concern regarding his family history. I enjoyed his unwilling care for Dawn and his misguided attempts to keep her safe. I enjoyed seeing the adjustment of a female lead who wasn’t automatically comfortable with the physical aggression (directed to attackers) that was an inherent part of the alien lifestyle. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the happiness the lead characters made together.

Another wonderful story I'd enjoyed in this series. This delightful story is about our nomadic Tallean medic Vasek who avoids being bonded to a mate because of the family curse and Dawn a human slave whose only wish is to return back to Earth. She was taken from her last master when Bakum killed her last master, Kotch. Bakum and Dawn are being chased by Kotch's crew. They seek sanctuary at Vasek's clinic while being tended to, and Dawn ends up being Vasek's as payment. What happens afterwards was an engaging story that captivated me. Their romantic adventure was an engaging read as Kotch's crew wants Dawn back believing she's the key to Kotch's treasure. Loved our characters, their chemistry sizzled, and the drama and action were titillating in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

Vasek does not want a mate because his family has been under a curse for multiple generations. Proven once again when he attacked by his brother when his mate dies. Vasek is a well-respected traveling medic and doesn't believe in owning other intelligent beings.

Dawn was kidnapped and has been shuffled through several owners. She ends up with a very uncaring pirate who drags her through the wilderness, nearly killing her. She escapes with Vasek and they go through multiple issues before finally reaching their HEA.

This is another great addition to the Tallean Mercenaries series by itself. However, there is more to the story if you read the series in order. This book and series should defininitely be at the top of your TBR list!

Dawn meets Vasek by chance and claims his attention from the beginning. He quickly shows how different he is from other Tallean's she has met. Vasek lives by a code, one that keeps his life in order. Keeping a human goes against all of that, but he cannot help his need to keep her safe.

I loved how both Dawn and Vasek need to overcome their past and find a way towards a new future. One they could have with each other if they try hard enough.

I enjoyed getting to see past characters again. Final showdown was a surprise, and I liked how it helped bring peace. Dawn and Vasek's story is a great addition to the series.

I have loved all of the books by the author that I have read and cannot click fast enough when a new one comes out. Eagerly waiting for more.

Unexpected Mate

Dawn is stranded at the edge of the galaxy at the mercy of alien beings that want to use her to get rich. She just wants to go home but it’s proving to be a very difficult task. Just when she gets her chance at freedom, she is dragged on a perilous journey and ends up with a brooding alien medic on a dangerous planet. Now she must rely on an alien who would rather not be burdened with a human woman.

The last thing Vasek needs is a human woman to look after! He has his own problems to take care of without adding more to his plate. However, as Vasek and Dawn are forced to spend time together, a natural attraction grows that dispels any frustrations

This is a good story with great world building and some fun tropes. Overall, very entertaining and enjoyable!

"He was cutthroat when it came to business, but he had a heart."

Vasek is a medic who is constantly on the move. It helps when you make a living patching up wanted men. But he has rules his clients are expected to abide by -- just because his patients are unsavory doesn't mean Vasek is without honor.

Dawn was abducted from Earth by aliens... and all she wants is to go home. Is that really too much to ask... or even just want?

This done in one stand alone kindle unlimited book has genuine heart. Both Vasek and Dawn are on a journey where they discover the real meaning not just of home, but family -- and the power of chosen family. I really enjoyed watching Vasek let his emotional guard down, and seem to realize that he had more than just a list of past patients, he had a network of friends and allies.

Vasek, Tallean, is a medic. His family has a history of loosing their minds once a oind forms and then the mate rejects them. He saves Dawn, human, from pirates that after her. He promises to take her somewhere safe. As they travel together, Vasek is finding it harder to not to form a mate bond. Dawn know Vasek is distancing himself so no bond forms. He said time and again, he wants no mate. As he saves her time over and over, Dawn has fallen for him, yet she won't stay with him until he proves he loves her and not jusr because of a bond.

Theres many twist and turns, lack of communication betweenn MFC and MMC, fear of becoming cursed, blind determination to return home and refusing to believe its not the like it was, theres lust and attraction turned to a fated bond and finally a happily-ever-after.

A Mate for Vasek by Lynnea Lee is the next in a long line of really great sci-fi romance stories. Vasek believes he is destined to remain single because of a “curse” on his family. Dawn is a human abducted from earth, sold into slavery, and just wants to get home. While they seem to have instant chemistry, neither believes they can pursue it. This was a great story filled with action, a complex plot, and truly likeable characters. And if you’ve read any of the others in this series, you know the world building is great too! That being said you don’t need to start at the beginning, though it was fun to catch up with characters from previous stories.

A Mate for Vasek is an entertaining eleventh book in the Tallean Mercenaries series that brings together Earth girl Dawn who just wants to go home and Tallean medic Vasek.
After keeping her out of the hands of two feuding pirates Vasek decides to bring her somewhere safe. But a small complication works it’s way into his plans when they become attracted to each other and it looks like he may have found a mate.
Lots of good writing, action, intrigue, passion, drama, friendship, and well crafted characters are blended into an exciting sci-fi romance adventure that moves along at a nice pace and delivers an enjoyable read.

This was another wonderful addition to the series and a fab romantic adventure for Dawn, abducted human used as a slave, and Vasek, ex-Dominion warrior acting as an independent medic. This story is told in dual POVs, is fast paced and the characters were fab for what they both represented. Dawn, understandably, has trust issues, and Vasek's family has a curse so he's not receptive to knowing she's his fated mate. Thankfully, his perspective evolves, and she learns trust so they can have their fab and steamy HEA. Of course, there's humour in here, as well as a ton of action, twists, drama and sizzling chemistry. I definitely recommend reading this series in order so you can fully enjoy the cameos of previous characters. And why not? They're fab stories, too ;D

A Mate For Vasek is a delightful romp through Lynnea Lee's Tallean universe. It reads easily as a standalone novel with just enough background provided to allow the story to flow well even if you have not read other books in the series. Readers who have enjoyed the other books will welcome the touch backs to familiar characters.
While I prefer books in Ms. Lee's X'arcn Warriors series for their depth in both character and world building, this story is well written and entertaining. It contains just enough angst to keep the plot moving forward while not getting weighed down with it. It is a light read perfect for an afternoon by the pool!.

An action-packed adventure
This is my first time reading this author’s work, and I enjoyed it. Even though this is book 11 of an ongoing series I didn’t feel like I was playing ‘catch-up’, everything is explained well, previous characters are included however enough backstory is provided to allow the reader to be able to keep up. In fact, they added a warmth to the storyline. The MC’s are engaging and I liked how they evolved through the book. Fantastic world-building. I love the story and series. Dawn was kidnapped from Earth and wants to go back. She has been sold, kidnapped, and stolen since her original kidnapping. Bakum steals her after killing her owner and they are on the run from her owners crew. He gets stabbed and goes to Vasek for medical treatment. He breaks Vasek's rules and ends up leaving without Dawn. Vasek tells her that he will take her to human settlements, to keep her safe. He doesn't want a mate. He just wants to get rid of her. He takes her to a friend that helps humans and plans to leave her. Can he leave her?.

Vasek steered clear of becoming attached to any female to avoid his family's mating curse. The same curse drove his brother into a rage that ended with Vasek losing his arm. But when he rescues a human woman, Dawn, he knows his resolve will be sorely tested.

This is another sweet romance in this series. Dawn is a smart lady who survives her captivity as a slave to Tallean males, focusing on a plan to escape back to Earth. Vasek protects her, trying to find her a new home with the freedom she needs, while trying to deny his growing feelings for her.

One thing that really stood out about the main characters is their stubbornness! I had a blast watching their dynamic unfold. The female main character is holding onto the hope of returning to Earth, while the male main character is trying to avoid their mate bond because of what he believes is a curse. But here's the kicker: she’s definitely his mate, and it takes a bunch of fun misadventures for him to realize that the curse isn’t real after all. In the end, it’s through falling in love that she discovers where her true home really is.

Dawn can't believe that Vasek would help her without expecting something in return. She's learned the hard way. Vasek can't stand to see how badly Dawn's been treated. He feels inexplicably drawn to her, even though he feels having a female not only would complicate his life, but is bad luck. Dawn keeps getting mixed signals from him and doesn't know how he feels about her. She wonders if he just feels protective of her while they're running from the pirates that are after her. I enjoyed the storyline, as well as the characters and world building. Lots of action and adventure as well as hot and steamy romance.

When all you crave is going home…

A captivating, “all-the-feels” emotional read that like all Lynnea Lee books leaves my heart so happy. Dawn has had it rough, first abducted from Earth, then sold into slavery. When her latest “owner” is killed, she is dragged literally into danger. Luckily, she meets Vasek who heals her physically- but what lies ahead for a healer who is afraid to love and a human who just wants to go back home to Earth. Some old friends pop up and expect steamy times and plenty of action!!.
