Detective Scarlet Reid has spent the past three months trying to make her alter ego, Ms. December, a ghost of Christmas past. Forced to become the sexy centerfold in a high-stakes undercover assignment, she’s spent more time pulling copies of her naked butt off the bulletin boards at the precinct than she has collaring criminals—and it’s far from over.
A deadly agenda. A gruesome new case has revealed a disturbing trend—one that has placed Scarlet on a list of possible targets. With limited options, she’s going to have to resurrect Ms. December—and her old partnership—which means facing the one man who stole more than just a kiss.
A love worth fighting for. Federal Agent Roman Kinkaid has some explaining to do. His final assignment with Scarlet changed him, and he’s been running from her ever since. But he’s ready to make things right—only he’s not alone. His partner and lover, Special Agent Aiden Cross, is just as invested and determined as Roman is to claim Scarlet as theirs. And they aren’t taking no for an answer, especially when their souls—and Scarlet’s life—are on the line.
They have three weeks to catch the stalker before Scarlet’s time runs out and they lose their one chance at a happy ending.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of voyeurism and a scene including rough penetration.
Publisher's Note: This book was previously released by Totally Bound under the same title. It has been considerably expanded, revised and re-edited for re-release.
We didn't get any of the two years Scarlet & Roman were partners, nor any of the relationship between Roman & Aiden - who were casual lovers...and I think that lack hindered the triad romance development. We did get a brief mention of how Scarlet & Aiden kissed once, early on in their acquaintance (plus the opening scene with Scarlet & Roman), but it just wasn't enough to build this kind of connection. We get the "I Love You's" but we don't know why, or how, any of the relationships grew and I feel like that was a missed opportunity to have the reader invested into more than just the sexual aspect of the book. I think it needed to be about 30 pages longer, with some flashbacks or a prologue to establish that emotion changing from friends to feeling more, even if the characters didn't choose to voice it or maybe didn't recognize it. Some vague realization later, in the middle of the case, just wasn't as believable.
I won't even mention the shoddy procedural aspects; suffice it to say I handwaved away a lot. But the sex was hot and I have a soft spot for MMF. This one could have been pretty damned good instead of Meh with just a little more background.
This was a sexy read with some hot ménage and m/m action. It's an erotic quickie focused on the sexual relationship between two undercover agents (m/f) and what happens when the hero brings his boyfriend in the mix. Besides the hot smexing this story also has some suspense, because the protags are investigating a series of murders. The suspense thread however was rather thin, leaving a lot of gaps for the reader to fill, but it gave the story just a little more substance. I would've liked to see more character depth, imo this is especially important to make a ménage relationship work. Also because I enjoy a sexy read even more when I can understand or sympathize with (one of) the characters through and through. Though, do pick up Centrefold when you're in the mood for a quick 'n dirty read, it will be satisfying!
Detective Scarlet Reid has been trying to put her alter ego in the past but a series of brutal murders force sher to resurrect Ms. December and her old partnership and they only have three weeks to catch the stalker before Scarlet’s time runs out in this chilling erotic romantic suspense. The story has an intriguing plot with some interesting elements and surprising twists that keeps readers guessing until the very end. I was completely caught up in the story from beginning to end and Scarlet and her two men make for a very combustible threesome and the sex scenes are scorching hot!
There are few stories as sexy and erotic as Centerfold, so much so that I'd like to read more of Kris Norris' work because this one book isn't enough.
Undercover cops have a tougher life than more people can imagine, even more when they're dealing with stuff like drugs where no one knows what could logically come up next. That's where Scarlett's life gets complicated as she poses for a skin magazine that is rumored to have illegal drugs flowing through its organization. She's pretty, sexy, and has the hots for her partner, Roman. More than a few things go under the covers when they have to prove their relationship to the possible source and while the mission was a success, there's a lot more that was damaged between the two of them.
Roman is a man on the run - from his life as a cop, from himself, and from his ex-partner Scarlett. He's always been attracted to his partner and tried to control himself for years to stay away. Then circumstances blew them apart just as things were getting interesting. But Scarlett needs him again, even if she's totally denying it, and he must man up and be by her side once more. He's brought someone else into the game, though. His new partner, Aiden, who shares more than a car and an office with him. Will that be enough to fool the criminals? Can he also fool himself?
Scarlett and Roman together were smoldering and now with Aiden thrown in, they're downright combustible. Their lust for each other practically sizzles and it's more than enough to get them into the skin magazine owner's mansion where, under the excuse of keeping his models safe, he's throwing a huge sleepover party filled with nonstop public sex games and competitions. The three must participate, of course, and it's getting harder to keep the line between work and reality, especially when the two men want it to disappear entirely.
Between the murders taking place like clockwork and the sexual tension between these three, the suspense is off the charts. While they're pitting their wits against the killer, they're forced to figure out just where their threesome is headed. There's no question that each would sacrifice everything for the other, the main problem is whether Scarlett and her men will trust enough not to run again.
It's quite obvious that there's tons of sex going on here in public and in private. What I truly appreciate is that it's not just wham-bam-next, it's an actual story going on behind the scenes. Yes, there's a killer and the undercover team needs to be reactivated to combat it, but the drama with Scarlett, Roman, and Aiden is palpable. PTSD fallout is acknowledged, there's guilt involved (and not overwhelming, simply coloring), and redemption is sweet.
One question, are there truly people as accepting as their supervisor? I found just that part a teeny hard to believe. Otherwise, Centerfold is a book I can read several times, because I can imagine stuff like that going on in the playboy mansion, and because Kris Norris penned a really, truly, hot book.
Kris Norris hangs with some other authors I follow. So I have name recognition and when I saw this come up for review, I thought it was past time I checked out her books. I have since found I have several of her titles on my “to be read” list. After all, she does hang with other authors I know I have read and has done collections and series with them. Makes sense. I am very glad I have finally read one of her books.
Centerfold – loved it! An undercover cop who can actually pull off being a centerfold – Ms December – for a men’s magazine. (Shades of Miss Congeniality?) Of course the guys back at the precinct aren’t going to let her live it down, but it got the job done. She brought down the drug dealer and his supplier. Detective Scarlet Reid. With a name like Scarlet, I am sure the guys haven’t been ragging on her anyway.
But she is a good cop and knows her job. Okay, so she fell in love with her partner, Roman Kincaid. That happens when they send so much time together. (Castle?) Too bad he fell for mutual friend Special Agent Aiden Cross and decided to join him at the FBI. It may not have hurt so badly if he hadn’t done it right after she got shot saving his life while bringing down the drug dealer, or even if he had said something about it. But he just left, leaving her to recuperate alone and feeling abandoned.
Now someone is killing the other centerfolds, all across the country, in a very violent and bloody way. Not only is her name on the list, but they need to bring this killer down before he can kill any more of the girls. So back undercover she goes with, not only with Roman as her partner and backup, but Aiden too. Can we pronounce ménage? The mansion where everyone is congregating – shades of a very kinky Hugh Hefner. *grin* Things are rather interesting there. Next word of the day – voyeurism.
I like crime dramas. I have mentioned that before. Centerfold was actually a pretty good crime drama. There was bloody murder and mayhem. Action. Suspense. Few clues. Fewer breaks. Everything comes down to a heart stopping climax with the murderer (You will be surprised who it is.) holding a knife at the next victim’s throat. OMG! Good drama. Throw in the kinky sex, and well . . . this about covers all the bases. Law & Order meets Miss Congeniality meets Hugh Hefner meets ménage and more. Like a some kinky sex with your crime drama? You will enjoy this. I will be reading more of Kris Norris.
FiveStars Scarlet, Roman and Aiden are a very HOT trio. I really enjoyed Scarlet’s sassy attitude – she was tough, but soft at the same time. She knew how to take care of herself and was able to play with the best of them.
This had great twists and turns – I loved the mystery within the story. It helped create more depth to each of the characters. While I didn’t really like Roman all that much, in the end, I forgave him.
I liked how Roman and Scarlet’s chemistry ebbed and flowed like a normal relationship. I wish I knew more about Aiden, but overall, these characters meshed well together.
This book combined what I love reading: Sex, Mystery and a happy ending.
I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
I liked it better when it was just two of them, it seems more real. I wasn't really into reading, I'm having a freaking headache but I tried and I love the first part where there was no Aiden and then when they met again, I love that she slapped him but the others after weren't satisfactory.
This book was really disappointing. Without a clear storyline, it was basically porn on paper. Great idea, pretty good writing, but not enough substance to be interesting.
