A gripping novella taking you on an intriguing journey of piracy, adventure and perilous conspiracy. Set in a fictional world of Ion Continents where political ambitions of several powers collide grinding down the secret agents involved. Join the self-proclaimed captain of a very special smuggling vessel on a cruise that might just be his last, fall in love with a not-so-beautiful merchant's daughter seeking fortune on her mysterious voyage, enter an ancient city fighting for survival and try to hold on as everyone around seems to have their own agenda. A fabulous tale from the borders of fantasy and steampunk with a lot of insight into the historical processes shaping our world today. Truly immersive.

Gunpowder by G. H. Guzik is a very special book. The writing is crisp and the characters well developed. It entertains with an ease that comes with good storytelling. I recommend it to everyone who loves reading.
In short - pirates, smugglers, magic and gunpowder. Nice and engaging reading! Interesting characters, interesting story (yet actually pretty simple and straightforward) and fast paced narrative. It is also very short, it's basically a novel for single evening (perhaps not even whole evening). This is a shame actually because there is plenty of space for interesting developments. Due to it's shortness story is also pretty straightforward - no twists, no side story arcs etc.
Still, I enjoyed it. I am not sure if there is another book (AFAIK - no) that is actually full sized story about Ion Continents. If there was, I would definitely read it.
It is tricky to rate my own novella as well as my favourite books. I believe it is just as good.
A short read, fully packed with action and characters to fall in love with (for both sexes). Although it was my first novella it is meticulously constructed and written to be a fun read.
