Lennon Hawthorne lives life in her safe awkward bubble; hanging out with her best friends, barely hanging on to her corporate job, and trying to live up to her parents’ expectations. But when that job brings her into the path of allusive billionaire Rhylie Kingston, she begins to rethink everything.
Grieving the loss of his mother and baby sister, Rhylie is learning what in his life is important and who in it he can really trust. He keeps to himself and therefore keeps his fragile heart safe. That is, until he impulsively comes to the rescue of a shy and awkward girl who doesn’t gawk at his status.
Will Lennon learn to take a few risks and reach her dreams? Will Rhylie finally find a woman worth laying his heart out there for? Or will the ups and downs of life and its decisions rip them apart? When it comes down to it and they each discover what is important to them, will that include the other person?
Uncharted Waters by Lisa Erin is an unforgettable journey of love, loss, and resilience. This book made me laugh, it made me cry, and at times, I found myself holding my breath, completely immersed in the story. Lisa Erin masterfully takes readers on an emotional roller coaster, weaving moments of joy and heartbreak with incredible depth and authenticity.
One of my favorite quotes—“I can’t go home…..The moment you walk through that door, you take my home and everything I love with it.”—perfectly captures the raw, soul-stirring emotion that defines this novel. Prepare for happy tears, sad tears, and a story that will stay with you long after the final page.
If you’re looking for a book that will make you feel in every sense of the word, Uncharted Waters is a must-read.
Uncharted Waters is book 1 in The Bookery Series 10/10 recommend - Check TW's!
"As if I wasn’t already crazy about him, he wants to read my favorite book."
OMG, I am absolutely in love with this book and Rhylie and Lennon! This book sucked me in, and if I had more time, I would've read the whole thing all at once! This book does have some very sensitive subjects that may be are for some readers, so please read TW's! That said, if they don't affect you, I would highly recommend adding this book to your TBR! When I was only 50% through, I already knew this book would hit my top 10 reads of the year, but now that I'm done, it's more like top 5! This book is beautifully written. The characters' personalities pop off the pages and make it so easy to imagine the story. The author did a fantastic job adding in real life issues, making the story more realistic and likely relatable to some readers. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride in the best ways.
Lennon - names after John Lennon is a dreamer with big emotions that make her make a choice that could cost her everything and everyone in her life.
Rhylie is a misunderstood billionaire with a big heart who has been through a terrible loss (off page). He never had a girlfriend and hated how the media made him out to be because of his family status.
This is the first book I've read from this author, and I can't wait to read book 2 and other books from this author!
Thank you to the author for the ARC opportunity, all thoughts are my own.
Uncharted Waters is a great start to the Bookery Series as the characters are likeable, and the story is set up for an interesting sequel with Rhylie's brother and Lennon's best friend Jade.
I felt all of the emotions while reading this. There were times when I was giggling, and then towards the end I actually cried! I don't shed tears too often but with this one, I definitely did at chapter 84. There are some potentially triggering themes around the aftermath of child loss, but it is done in a way that considered many character's opposing point of view on the subject. This gave you a chance to see why certain characters acted the way they did. Overall, I really enjoyed the book! Solid 4 stars for myself, there were some grammatical errors throughout which did take my rating down a little. I do think though that this will be fixed by now and I look forward to the sequel.
I love complex characters and relationships. The relationship and dynamics between Lennon and Rhylie is no exception. I enjoyed reading the growth that happens in this book for the main characters. I loved these characters FMCs in this story and I can’t wait to see more of them in the next books. I loved the girl gang so much. I also would love to see Rhylie family and its dynamics from his brothers’ point of view. I can’t wait to see how this author continues the series.
I was an arc reader for this book. Definitely check the trigger warnings. It’s a very slow burn book so have some patience. There is true character development with Rhylie and Lennon. There were some parts in the book where I felt heartbreak and I was crying. Happy and sad tears. I found myself laughing throughout the book so it was definitely funny. He fell so hard for her that he fought just as hard for her. Rhylie and Lennon get really raw and vulnerable throughout the book. He helped her with her dream of owning her own bookstore and more. There is an unplanned pregnancy that takes a turn for the worst but their future is bright and there’s a HEA 🥰
3.75 ⭐️ For Lisa Erin's debut novel, I enjoyed this book! Overall it was a great representation of found family/friends and I love that!! And I feel incredibly lucky to have been given an ARC!! There were aspects of this story, that I found I struggled to suspend my disbelief, including meeting the parents when they did during their relationship timeline, but overall I was routing for our couple and enjoyed their relationship! I do feel this book was a little long, especially for a romance novel. Towards the end, it just felt a little wordy, but I enjoyed reading it, and I am excited to see what Lisa Erin does in the future!
It would have been 5 stars if they didn’t forgive Lennon so fast once her secret expose.her choice is her own 100% but her mind was chaotic and i felt she didn’t actually think it through. i felt she had no remorse until people found out her secret.Rhylie at first was acceptable of how he reacted but he flipped the switch so quick to want her back. I dont know to me it didn’t sit right on how desperate he was for her towards the end and she was acting like he was in the wrong. I dont think they should have ended up together in my opinion. It’s still a great read that throws you for a loop
I love the chemistry between the FMC and MMC, how they grow, love and navigate thier way together. While you'll feel so many feelings with the FMC, the MMC is everything a girl ever wanted and he's being real from the beginning. It's not always sunshine and rainbows. They've been cracked open, they face their fears, make mistakes, and fight for something real. Love can scare you as much as it saves you. At end of the day, they still choose to reach for each other. I feel every emotion. I'll definitely recommends it.
This is Lisa’s debut book and she did a great job! The beginning is a little slow (like most books). I couldn’t put it down in the last half of the book though. The whole gambit of emotions. Check the trigger warnings before reading. I really enjoyed the ending and can’t wait for more books in the series!
• I loved the found family/tight-knit friend group dynamic, those vibes always pull me in. <33
• I really appreciated the slow burn between Lennon and Rhylie. Even though their attraction was immediate, the way their relationship unfolded felt natural and well-paced. That said, some timing choices didn’t quite add up, like meeting the parents before even sharing a first kiss or having any sort of relationship talk? That part felt unrealistic.
• The unexpected pregnancy and abortion storyline really didn’t sit right with me. What bothered me most was Lennon keeping everything from Rhylie, despite him consistently being there for her. That level of secrecy felt like a major red flag and took away from their connection for me.
• The book was longer than it needed to be, a more concise version could’ve delivered the same impact without dragging in places.
Overall, Uncharted Waters wasn’t a personal favorite, but I definitely see potential in Lisa Erin’s writing, especially with this being her debut. Her style was engaging, and I’m genuinely curious to see what she (hopefully) does with Jade and Asher’s story!
