This book!!! Just... wow!!
Talk about an amazing debut novel!

“Gods, has anyone ever told you how infuriatingly smug you are?” “Mm.” He tilts his head like he’s mock-considering, his smirk refusing to fade. “But I’m still your favorite.” I scoff, ready to throw it back at him, but he leans in—close enough for his breath to brush my ear. “And if I’m not,” his voice drops, low and dangerous, “I’ll remind you tonight.” Heat slams through me—low, molten, curling like fire beneath my skin. And I almost forget we’re not alone.

Thane and Amara are everything!
Fated bond? Check
Slow burn? Check
Fire Daddy? CHECK
Strong FMC? Check
Banter? Check
Protective? Check and check!

Add in their friends, Lyra, Garrick Jarek and Rian - and dont forget Valen! You have an unforgettable cast of characters that you just can't help but fall in love with, blended into a world that is as immersive as it is addictive.

This book is an amazingly well written romantasy with all the best tropes, and its built so well that you can see and feel the world around you as you move through the story. I absolutely could not put this down and it kept me up late several nights trying to finish it because I had to know what happened next. Now that its over... I honestly dont know how I am supposed to carry on waiting for the next book in this series. This isn't one that you want to sleep on. As soon as this releases, READ IT.

Thank you to Bobbie Wirkmaa for the absolute honor and pleasure of reading this book as an ARC. This is by far one of the best ARCs I have ever read, and one of my top books in months. Well done!

"Elemental Awakening" is more than a book; it's a profound, immersive experience that has left a permanent mark on my soul. Bobbie, you didn't just write a story—you built a world so vivid and real that I felt every heartbeat and fiery breath.

From the first page, the intricate world of elemental clans and slumbering dragons pulled me in. At the heart of it all is Amara, a character so beautifully layered and complex. Watching her journey from a survivor to the formidable wielder of the elements was nothing short of breathtaking. Her growth felt so personal, and her struggles resonated on a deeply human level.

And then there's Thane. He is the kind of character who is equal parts war-forged and wonderfully tender. The tension and connection between him and Amara are a masterclass in slow-burn romance—it's the kind of yearning that leaves you breathless and utterly invested. The "trust fall" scene, in particular, will forever be etched in my memory; it was a scene of such exquisite beauty that it completely wrecked me in the most perfect way.

The entire cast of characters feels incredibly alive. Valen is the mentor of my dreams—grounded, wise, and deeply human—and the chaotic, hilarious, and unapologetically hot Phoenix Ring claimed a piece of my heart. The friendships are fierce, the found family is a beacon of hope, and the dragons are... simply awe-inspiring. They pulse with a raw, wild energy that makes the world feel alive.

The prose itself is cinematic and lyrical, painting every scene with such rich detail that I could see the elements clash and feel the grit of every training session. The plot is a masterpiece of tension, with prophecies, powerful villains, and devastating betrayals that keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you know where the story is going, it takes a turn that shatters your expectations in the best possible way.

This book didn't just tell me a story; it awakened something within me.
"Elemental Awakening" is a testament to the power of a well-crafted tale and the enduring magic of friendship, love, and finding your own strength. It’s an epic that I will be thinking about for a very long time.

A Slow-Burn Romantasy That Will Steal Your Heart

I felt every moment of this story, the longing, the tension, the heat, and it is impossible not to be completely swept away. If you read one romantasy this year, let it be this. With fated mates, slow-burn romance, rich worldbuilding, and banter that will make you laugh out loud, this book completely delivered and had me hooked from start to finish.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I can say without hesitation that it exceeded all my expectations. This slow-burn romantasy captured me completely from the first page and refused to let go. The chemistry between the leads is electric, simmering with tension that is both frustrating and irresistible. Every glance, every line of dialogue, every pause between them had me completely invested. I felt their emotions as vividly as if I were living in the story myself.

The writing is beautiful and immersive, balancing passion, humor, and emotion seamlessly. The worldbuilding is rich and layered, full of magic, mystery, and ancient lore that deepens the story without ever slowing down the romance.

The banter between the characters adds so much charm and life to the story. It made me laugh out loud more than once and grounded the intense emotional moments perfectly. It is rare to find a romantasy that makes you swoon, laugh, and feel your heart race all at once, but this book does exactly that.

By the end, I was completely undone, emotionally satisfied yet desperate for more. It is the kind of story that stays with you long after you close the book. If you love fated mates, slow-burn tension, heart-stopping chemistry, and clever, character-driven humor, “Elemental Awakening” is an absolute must-read.

READ IT!!! Wow! This story was absolutely amazing. Bobbie Wirkmaa is a master with words. When this is printed, it is going to blow up the internet! Thane is drool worthy and may be one of my favorite MMCs ever.

This book has everything: dragons, magic, prophecies, elements of managing grief, best friend vibes that are so healthy!! Found family, physical and magical training scenes, and spice. Bobbie you evil genius the romantic tension in the book is on fire! Oh my goodness the lead up to the spice in this book had me panting over hand holding. HAND HOLDING!

The MMC gives military commander vibes and maintains control in all aspects…the FMC is reactionary to her emotions and the push and pull between them is chefs kiss! The side characters support so well without taking over. I want a spin off of their stories as well!

The story does not get bogged down by the incredible world-building details and drew me in immediately!

Bobbie wrote so well, I felt the characters as if I were right there with them. I can’t wait to find out more about Amara and Thane in book 2! I need to know what is going to happen in this world!

I received an early ARC of this book. Thank you Bobbie ❤️. This is my honest review.

ARC Review - Elemental Awakening by Bobbie Wirkmaa
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book has it all for me, personally. Fantasy world, dragons, a relatable voice in its main character, hot fire daddies. I literally could not ask for more.

Let me start by saying that this book is looong. She’s hefty. But Bobbie’s writing is smooth and guides you seamlessly through the world and Amara’s story, weaving in romance, magnetic world building and magic system, drama and side characters that will absolutely grow on you enough to want to know more about them too.

Things to note:
🎭 Dual POVs
🔥 Slow Burn
🌶️ Moderate Spice
🐉 Fantasy World
🌬️ Elemental Magics

For fans of Fourth Wing and Throne of Glass, you NEED to give this one a read. I promise you it’ll become a staple on your shelves (or Kindles like me).

Now to wait for the second book 😩

If you are looking for romantasy that have it all…this is it!!! Dragons, elemental magic, love interest that will hunt your dreams for ever, sisterhood, brotherhood, found family, spice written tastefully and of course generational secrets!!!!! I was part of ARC reader, and I cannot believe this was Bobbi Wirkmaa’s debut book!!! Bobbi was able to bring this story to life beautifully. Reading this book was like watching a movie. From page one I was sucked into the story!! World building was spot one.. not too much not overly complicated and straight to the point. Magic system not complicated as well and was easy to follow. All characters were thought out carefully and written well. Story is passed well and keeps you on your toes and constant guessing. I am big dragon nerd… dragon bond was one of my favorite descriptions I have ever read. Also, if you are looking for new book boyfriend …..well this is it!!! Amara’s love interest… still lives rent free in my head!!! This was such a great begging to the series!! Cannot recommend it enough!! So excited to see where the story takes us!!

I received an e-ARC copy of this book.
I know I’m always benevolent with the reviews, but this book deserves all the stars in the sky.

For people with writing pet peeves, don’t pick this book up if: you don’t like a steady use of italics and use of dashes. I would hate to see it rated bad because no one warned you.

Let’s start with book facts:
-📖It’s a long o book, don’t have the exact page count but a guess would be 700+
-First person POV
-Dual POV, FMC gets a lot more page time though
-Medium paced
-spice 🌶️🌶️
-Magic system based on the elements 🔥🌊🌬️🪨
-The one trope, but it’s no secret
-Competent FMC
-Fire daddy MMC 🔥 (🤤)
-Strangers to friends to lovers
-wonderful slow burn🔥
-Found family (best BFF ever)
-Hot friends 🐦‍🔥
-🐉 Dragons! Don’t expect them to come breathing fire on page one, you get to meet them way into the book, but it’s absolutely worth it.

I loved Bobbie’s writing style — it makes you immerse yourself in the book and feel everything she’s portraying. You laugh, cry, and love alongside each and every character. This book strikes the perfect balance between world-building, plot, and character growth. Be ready to go on a journey of grief and trust — one that’s not just empty drama but a true example of communication, empathy, and companionship. The relationships between the characters remain healthy throughout the entire book — so healthy that it doesn’t end in a freakin’ (almost impossible to avoid nowadays) third-act breakup (I’ll build an altar for you, Bobbie for that fact alone!) Don’t get spooked by the first chapters — mainly the parts covering early training. They’re a bit slower than the rest, but it perfectly reflects the FMC’s state of mind.
Read this book!

What a debut! I can’t remember the last time I was this immersed in a story. The vivid, cinematic writing played like a movie in my mind, pulling me into every scene and emotion.

In many ways, Elemental Awakening reminded me of Throne of Glass — that same sense of rich world-building and deep character grounding by the end of book one. I know exactly who these characters are, what drives them, and the scars they carry. The prose itself was fluid and engaging, in a way poetic.

And the characters. GOODNESS. Thane and Amara might be two of my favorites I’ve ever read. Amara’s strength and unyielding resolve took my breath away — her journey from pain to power felt raw, vulnerable, and deeply human. And Thane… he’s book-husband material through and through. Mature, capable, emotionally grounded — and that quiet vulnerability at the end? Tears. Actual tears.

The found family dynamic was phenomenal. Lyra is the best-friend-everyone-needs — blunt, loyal, and full of heart. The Phoenix Ring had me smiling constantly, and Fenric’s dry humor literally made me laugh out loud.

And then there’s the romance. The yearning. The slow burn that burns. I was dying over the tension between these two — every glance, every touch, every almost. It was done so well.

This book has it all — loss, loyalty, dragons, magic, training scenes, sparring, and adventure. It’s high-stakes fantasy with heart and depth, and I can’t wait for book two.

Can I give a book 10 stars?

I stumbled over ARC applications for this one completely by accident on Instagram, saw the blurb, and ran to sign up. I was so, so, SO lucky to be picked as an early ARC reader, because I don't think I'd be able to survive until 2026 for this to release.

This book has it ALL.

Dragons? Check.

Magic? Check.

Mating bonds? Check.

Fiercely spirited FMC? Double check.

A green flag book husband material MMC? Triple check.

World: Lumoria feels like a realm lived in, but with secrets still to be discovered as we progress through the series, which I love. A lot of times, when authors say 'realm', you spend most of it sitting in one single village, and while it's true that this book is set in an outpost 90% of the time, we do get sightings of other locations, which will probably come back into play later on.

Magic system: is based in the elements this time around, and actually makes sense! The way the author describes each one, the powers she gives them, the logic behind the decisions that the wielders make, it all comes together to form a brilliant magical pattern that's both understandable and intensely intriguing.

Main Female Character: Amara. My beloved Amara. She goes through straight up hell in this book, and is remarkably believable for having done so. Every inch of her journey is earned, fought for, and celebrated victoriously when she finally gets it. Despite the fact she's the essential 'Chosen One', she's not automatically better than everyone else, and there's still so much more to come in her journey, I'm really looking forward to it. I guess I just wish that at least one of her "lightbulb" moments might have come from talking to her love interest, rather than her best friend, but it also makes sense in some ways because she's only just moving into this new relationship with him, I suppose.

Main Male Character: Thane. The Fire Warlord. Dragon rider, leader, bastion of strength, and the unparalleled fighter in the realm, assigned to both protect Amara and teacher her ... among other things. You'll see what I mean when you get there (IYKYK). But he's everything. He's OP, this is true, because we see other top tier fighters that are no match for him - but he equally feels REAL, and I think we haven't seen his full potential unleashed on page yet whatsoever. In contrast to all the shadow daddies out there, too, he's way more put together, knows himself and what he wants well, and understands things before the readers can even fully grasp them. I can't wait to see him in an actual battle so we get to witness the Warlord at his strongest! He's so, so good for Amara, staying no matter what, a thing that's absent in the world today.

Supporting Cast: Can we have spin-offs focusing on each of them? Because I love them so much. From the mentor "Gandalf"-like role of Valen, to the BFF Lyra who calls it like she sees is, no BS involved, to the Phoenix Ring who, HELLO EXCUSE ME, are ride or die for Thane and Amara both. Each character brings nuance and weight to the story and holds their own ground without taking from the main objective, and I'm here for it.

The Romance: is earned, fought for, and man let Lyra narrate everything PLEASE, because she's a hoot and so, so real it's amazing.

The Plot Itself: We actually see only the smallest portion of the over-arching plot we'll be settling into for the duration of the series, and that's okay, because characters drive this book, working into the plot rather than the plot working them in, if you know what I mean. This is, indeed, a first book, an awakening, learning about the land, the magic, the characters. From here, it's gonna be a wild and bumpy ride, baby!

Overall: This book is magic from start to finish, and while it IS hefty (ain't no skinny bish in here!), she's also worth every single page and written word. You have angst, you have trauma, you have healing, you have magic, you have love, and you have characters that breathe right off the page, feeling incredibly real. There's also a mystery hundreds of years in the making, and the Shadow Clan has yet to have its final say if you ask me. I have theories, including but not limited to that it's all lies, however, most importantly, this book keeps you thinking, keeps you connecting the puzzle pieces together.

It also gives you dragons. I mean, what's NOT to like?!?

This is it and more and delivered EVERYTHING. The author has a kickstarter going right now which you should also totally check out, by the way, and hopefully you join us in Lumoria one of these days. You won't be disappointed!

Elemental Awakening ARC Review:

This book is EVERYTHING!! 💯💯

I'm not even sure if I have the right words to describe how real the characters feel, and how immersive the world is.

Bobbie did such an amazing job of creating a world that you feel a part of where you are in the minds of these characters, feeling what they're feeling, experiencing the world with them. And the absolute raw emotions of each and every person was FLAWLESS! I can't believe this is her debut novel.

The emotions that Amara goes through as she struggles with the destiny placed on her are unlike anything I've read in fantasy so far. And Thane is my new obsession!

The strength that man possesses and the utter devotion to Amara make me melt!
I have no doubt in my mind that this book will become the next big hit in the Romantasy genre!

And the side characters in this story are not just fluff, they are real and raw and make this story so much more than just a romance. They make it about family and finding that connection even after devastating loss.

It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me swoon. It made me question things and ask myself deep questions that I had never thought to ask before.

I LOVED everything about this book! If it's not already on your TBR, make sure to add it!!

✨️PHENOMENAL, BOBBIE! TRULY!!✨️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Elemental Awakening and I’m so glad, because this was one of my most anticipated reads—and it didn’t disappoint!

The characters are truly endearing, each with their own strength, personality, and backstory that made me care for them so much. The world-building is incredible—elemental clans, dragons, and a looming threat that forces unlikely alliances. I loved being immersed in it.

The pacing really worked for me: it feels like we’re learning right alongside Amara as she discovers how to fight and wield her powers. That slower build made the emotional stakes hit even harder.

Overall, this was a real page-turner, the kind of book you don’t want to put down. I can’t wait to see where the series goes next!

Bobbie Wirkmaa absolutely crushed it with Elemental Awakening ✨ the world-building is lush, the characters are deliciously complex (and emotionally damaged in all the best ways), and the elemental magic system? Straight-up addicting.

Amara (our heroine) gives “I’ve been through hell and learned to breathe fire” 🔥 energy, and the slow-burn tension had me pacing like a caffeinated dragon. Wirkmaa’s writing manages to be both cinematic and intimate — one moment you’re clutching your chest, the next you’re shouting, “WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT JUST HAPPENED?!”

The pacing hits just right, the reveals land like lightning, and the vibes are peak fantasy chaos meets found-family feels.

Verdict: 4.5/5 stars — A dazzling debut that’s fierce, emotional, and utterly spellbinding. Huge thanks to Bobbie for letting me be part of the ARC team — what an absolute privilege to experience this world early. Now excuse me while I count down the days until February 9 and book two!!!! 🔥❤️‍🔥

I must admit that, other than that, I had zero expectations for this book. But, as always, I’m so happy when a book proves to be more than just aesthetics.

If you tell me a book has dragons, I'm 100% sure I'll read it, and 90% sure I'll like it. This was no exception!

I did find a couple of similarities to other book series with dragons, but I also found some unique elements in the descriptions, personalities, and interactions with the dragons, which I thought were just perfect! I loved the Avatar inspiration, the Earth, Fire, Water and Air Clans and Wielders, and the fact that only the Spirit Born (the Chosen One) can wield all four elements.

I loved the characters — there's no other way to put it — Valen and Lyra are definitely the best side characters ever: he is all-wise, serene, patient and understanding; and she is Amara’s voice of reason, helping her to understand and accept everything she has refused. Their friendship is just amazing!

And the slow burn… OMG… chef kiss… Thane is one of the best male main characters ever, the way he cares for her and the moment he says “fuck it” is pure gold! I must admit that until the very end I was still deciding whether I like Amara or not – her anxiety gave me anxiety, LOL! But she has an amazing character arc! She grows so much, become more confident, and I love that! She and Thane are a perfect match. Thane is just perfect! and I love that their relationships start with care and respect.

Calryx is my new favorite dragon. I love how dragons bond with their riders, and I love how they test them!

I will definitely be reading the next book in this amazing series! And I do recommend you all give it a try!! This book is totally worth it!

“There is darkness in this world. It will test you. You will falter. But you will rise.”

This story grabbed me from the very first page and didn't let go. The world-building is incredibly rich, and the details are so well-thought-out. What really stood out to me was the unique magic system, where each of the elemental magics has its own quirks and challenges. It’s a refreshing change from a lot of other fantasy novels I’ve read. I love the duel POV and getting Thane chapters, especially after pivotal moments, really enhances the reader’s experience.

The story follows Amara, who lives a quiet life until a devastating tragedy forces her to confront a destiny she never wanted. When her village is attacked by creatures from the Shadow Forces, her grief and rage awaken a dormant power within her, revealing her to be the prophesied Spiritborn—the only person who can wield all four elements and save the realm (No big deal, right?). Amara's journey is just beginning, and watching her process her grief and moments of weakness felt so incredibly real and impactful.

And then there's Thane—our broody Fire Warlord with the weight of the world on his shoulders and some serious secrets of his own. The tension between Amara and Thane is absolutely electric. He's tasked with protecting and training her, not falling for her, but their banter and Amara's attempts to get a smile out of him are pure gold. Thane is officially being added to my book boyfriend harem. After all, who doesn't need a fire daddy in their life?

But the main characters aren't the only ones to love! The supporting cast is phenomenal, from Valen, the stoic mentor, to Lyra, the best friend who sees right through Amara's nonsense. And I can't forget the Phoenix Ring—Garrick, Jarek, and Rian—Thane's inner circle who help keep him grounded. The friends Amara finds along the way, Taila, Darius, and Fenric, also provide the support she desperately needs.

As if all of that wasn't enough, there are also dragons! The way they are woven into the story enhances the world-building in a fantastic way. I am 100% obsessed and completely invested in this world.

I can't wait for you all to read this! Book two cannot come soon enough!

First of all I was incredibly honored and wanted to thank Bobbie for sending me an ARC of her beautiful story!

I really enjoyed the story with both Amara and Thane our main FMC and MMC. Neither one of them bothered me with decisions they made. In fact, I felt like I understood the choices they made and to be honest I ate it up! Amara’s loss and grief had me feeling and thinking of my own and loved reading about her choice to keep living and battling everything that gets tossed her way.
Bobbie’s writing style really drew me into her story. When I was reading it gave me a sense of belonging alongside her characters. Like I was one of them.

As far as the story itself, it did drag sometimes; however I feel as though it may have been “laying the bedrock” since it is the first book, I also cannot wait to see more from the other characters, I don’t need different perspectives, but I just would love more from them as a whole!

With all of this being said, I absolutely cannot wait for book two!!!

I received an ARC copy of this book. From the social media posts and graphics I saw prior to getting the book I thought I had a clear vision of what to expect as far as descriptions go. But I was wrong. The details in the writing were so much more. This author helps you feel everything and understand the magic system. I could not get enough of the MMC and FMC. I cannot wait until book two🔥❤️

Grab your popcorn for an immersive experience! This book was addictive!! You are drawn into this book from the beginning and the pace doesn't just let up, it catches on fire! Be ready to get absorbed into a magical world and experience it all!

Amara is a part of the Earth Clan or so she thinks. She doesn't know she has elemental capabilities until they were unleashed! With her village destroyed, she doesn't know how to move on.

"You will either end the darkness - or become a part of it." There is so much meaning in that sentence, which is what the book is about. A prophecy is foretold, but there is no way she is the "Spiritborn", right?

"Deny it all you want Amara. It won't change the truth. The only question that remains is whether you will run from it - or face it." A very powerful question to ask and for Amara to truthfully answer in her heart. It many ways, it is a question we should be asking ourselves for situations in our lives that we need face.

Amara needs to become a soldier to fight the Shadow Forces and Shadeheart. She has to learn to let everything come to her.

The characters in the book are great! Lyra, her best friend, who everyone needs in their life, tells it like it is and always has her back. Valen, the mentor, mage and scholar teaches her everything about all the elemental magics. Thane, the Warlord, leader over all the clans, guides, trains and protects her. Garrick, Jarek and Rian are brothers-in-arms for Thane. There is also a core group of friends Amara has found. The characters bring so much humor into the story! They all become a found family for Amara and that is a gift.

Dragons. What can I say? Amazing creatures.

Amara goes through A LOT in this book; grief and overcoming it, healing, discovering who she is and what she wants, coming back stronger and rising from everything that has been thrown at her.

There are so many life lessons intertwined in this book. It really makes you take a deep dive into your own personal life. I have never had a book make me cry, until this one. I choose this book!

The imagination of Bobbie is incredible! She immerses you in her world and has you watch a movie in your mind. I can't believe this is her first book! It's amazing in every possible way and I can't wait to see what else is in store in her series! Bobbie will be unstoppable with this series!

Thank you Bobbie for the arc!Bobbie Wirkmaa

****ARC REVIEW****
I had the privilege to be selected to be an ARC reader for Elemental Awakening. I was so very excited to get selected because I had already seen a lot of social media about the book, and it did not disappoint. The story is told from the POV of the two main characters, Amara and Thane.

Tropes:
🔥 Found Family
⚔️ Fire Daddy
🔥 Dragons
⚔️ Elemental Magic
🔥 Forced Proximity
⚔️ War
🔥 Badass BFF
⚔️ Buried Secrets
🔥 Slow Burn
⚔️ Chosen One
🔥 Prophecies
⚔️ Training Sessions
Spicy Chapters:
Ch 19, Ch 21

Story Blurb from Amazon:
Set in a realm of elemental clans and long-sleeping dragons, Elemental Awakening follows a young woman’s rise from survivor to Spiritborn—the realm’s most dangerous legend—and the warlord she was never meant to love.
When 23-year-old Amara Thalor awakens her elemental powers during a brutal Shadow Force attack, she’s named the Spiritborn: a prophesied wielder of all four elements. But power alone isn’t enough—not in a realm where dragons refuse to bond, the magical wards are crumbling, and an ancient force stirs beneath the surface. Training under Thane Caelum, the realm’s war-hardened Warlord, Amara discovers a bond that defies history—and truths that could fracture the world once more. The only way forward might cost her everything…including him.
Elemental Awakening can stand alone but is designed as the first in a four-book series titled Echoes of Lumoria. It will appeal to fans of Fourth Wing, Throne of Glass, and The Plated Prisoner—readers who crave high-stakes magic, slow-burn romance, and dragons with something to say.

What I liked:
This is a book about survival and overcoming trauma and obstacles all wrapped in a fantasy world. The characters are very relatable and the story is engaging. The worldbuilding is well done and the pace of the romance in the book is slow, but not unnecessarily so. It allows the characters to grow into their love for each other while they also deal with their own traumas, choices, and beliefs. I loved that they each had a fantastic support system in steadfast friends, especially Lyra, who might be my favorite character. There is good banter between the characters and they became more fun to read as the story went. I liked the interactions with the dragons and how they choose their riders. The ending does end of a cliffhanger, but it is not a traumatic one, which I appreciated.

Things that weren’t my favorite:
Some of the pacing for the story was quite slow and I found myself not as engaged in the story during those scenes. There were quite a few points that I hope she will explore in later books, like the relationship with the gods and the guardians. The book really did get more engaging as it went and I came to really enjoy the characters and the story. Though I think the character growth and emotional growth was done well, there were parts that I thought felt a bit regressive for the characters. However, I can see where this reflects reality in that sometimes we make emotional progress and then backslide into whatever trauma we endured.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it to all of my romantasty friends!

Favorite Quotes:
“Sometimes,” he says quietly, “the choice isn’t in what happens to us. It’s in how we carry it.”

“We’re the Phoenix Ring. Not because we survive--but because we return, and burn brighter each time.”

“I can’t breathe without you.”

ELEMENTAL AWAKENING WAS SOOOOO GOOD!!!

I fell in love with this book and like any good book I am left with so many unanswered questions but fueled in the best way possible!!!

Our FMC Amara is a beautiful character who is from the Earth Clan in a small village where EVERYTHING that she knows and loves is taken and she is left with a role that only she was born to fill! Her character development and her struggles made me relate to her so much! I love when I can put myself in the characters shows realistically and go through everything they are! Bobbi did that with Amara!!!

Our MMC is my new book boyfriend and my one and only Fire Daddy!!! Thane is so complex under his tough exterior and he doesn’t know what to do when Amara falls into his life! He tries to protect her and give her what he thinks is best but it only will hurt everyone else in the end! I love the layers of this man and how we get the ENTIRE BOOK to strip him bare to one of the most lovable characters!

The tension, push and pull, found family, chosen one, slow burn and forced proximity were soooo well done! I love the elements that are described, the world, the character development and how I was never left stagnant!!! This was a 5 star read for me and I feel so blessed and honored to have been part of the beginning journey!

“Sometimes,” he says quietly, “the choice isn’t in what happens to us. It’s in how we carry it.” — Valen

This line defines Elemental Awakening. It’s not just about magic, destiny, or power—it’s about endurance. The kind that comes from holding fear, pain, and loss and choosing to keep going anyway.

What stood out most to me is how real this story feels. So many fantasy books skirt around grief, using it as backstory fodder. But here, grief lives and breathes on the page. You feel it. You carry it with the characters.

Amara is not your typical “chosen one.” She’s not a Mary Sue naturally the best at everything, and that’s exactly why she shines. Every skill costs her something. She earns every inch of her progress, and when she falters, you ache for her. Her grief doesn’t vanish—it becomes part of her strength. The Jab/Cross sequence nearly broke me.

And then there’s Thane. He’s broody, yes, but also deeply self-aware—something rare in the genre. He doesn’t chase Amara or posture like a dark, tortured hero. He simply is: grounded, introspective, quietly burdened yet steadfast. He’s not morally grey—he’s a giant green flag hidden under the weight of duty and love. Not to mention a super hot (literally) fire daddy.

Together, they anchor a story that’s as much about healing as it is about magic. The world of Lumoria feels ancient, alive, and full of promise. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next.

And oh yes, it has Dragons.

Authentic emotional depth
Healing through work, not perfection

The story and the setting of the book are beautiful!
The magic system is absolutely amazing - I love the elements and how it's described how they feel, are and can be wielded ♡ Also that the elemental magic of a person is reflected in their personality and looks.
At some point the pace of the book is quite slow but it picks up again later on.

Our FMC, Amara, is struggling with a lot but she has a wonderful friend, Lyra, who is there for her every time ♡ The friendship between them is something beautiful to read - you can be really lucky if you have such a friend in your life! But she is not only a great friend but a badass who wants to fight for the good in the world ♡
While in the outpost Amara finds a found family with people who are supportive and have a beautiful characters ♡
The Phoenix Ring are 4 really awesome warriors, including our MMC Thane, who are there for each other for many many years. They are a wonderful group who have banter but also have each other's back every time.

Amara and Thane have a complicated relationship. Both feel drawn to each other but don't want to acknowledge their feelings because of different reasons. They are equally wonderfully jealous and can't take their eyes of each other. It is beautiful to watch how they help each other heal in so many different ways!

I recommend to read it and I can't wait for the next book ♡ This book promises a really great series!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I LOVED THIS.

Such an easy magic system to follow right off the bat. The FMC Amara is someone you can relate to and such a strong FMC - she doesn’t hesitate, she knows what she needs to do, and she doesn’t make stupid decisions. The MMC Thane is SWOON worthy. 🫠 So many layers to this man and he is DOWN bad for my girl Amara. Such a refreshing romance that’s NOT enemies to lovers. The side characters/found family are all hilarious and each their own person.

This seriously checks every box for a fantasy romance novel. Dragons, swoon worthy MMC, a strong smart FMC, the found family, the spice, the romance, EVERYTHING. 🐉 🔮🩷

I cannot wait to see where this story goes.

One caveat - the format was a little weird reading it on my kindle, like there was too many spaces in between paragraphs/sentences but I’m sure that’ll get worked out.

10/10. Go read it. 📖

I had the amazing opportunity to be an ARC team reader for Elemental Awakening. This book is just incredible! First off, I could not put it down. I was reading into the wee hours this week and basically being the worst wife and mother ever to just read this AMAZING book. Amara and Thane are EVERYTHING! This book, while full of action, intrigue, dragons and everything in between, is the MOST beautiful love story I have read in a very long time! I found myself saying “awwwww” out loud or smiling a big dopey smile so many times. Bobbie has a gift for describing the emotions and reactions of her characters that really makes readers feel like a part of the story. I can tell this is going to be a great series and I am here for it!!! I literally cannot wait for book 2! WELL DONE BOBBIE!!!

No words will do justice to how I feel after reading this book. No, not just a book. This is a masterpiece. Truly a work of art. I could feel everything Amara and Thane experienced. And they were so real that I cannot call them characters. That would feel like an insult. These were living, breathing, flesh and blood people. And don't get me started on the Phoenix Ring and found family. Every person is unique and so well written. The journey is a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed (as in tears rolling down my cheeks). I wept (more than once). I was awestruck. I was elated. I was heartbroken and mended. The audiobook will likely wreck me, but I'm here for it all.

Thank you so much for the privilege to be chosen as an ARC reader.

Where do I start? I was DYING to read Elemental Awakening and this book did not disappoint. In fact, this book cracked me open a little bit, tore into a few old wounds surrounding grief and loss, and stitched them back together maybe just a little neater than it found them. I connected almost instantly with the FMC, Amara. Her tenacity, her grit, her grief- it flies off the page and sinks itself between your ribs, reminding you why you read. This story, the world building- my gods; you see yourself in this fantasy realm, you feel yourself there. The writing is so descriptive without talking at you. You’re on the mat training with Thane and the Phoenix Ring. THANE. (That’s a full sentence). The MMC (Thane) is a mix of a Burnt Cinnamon Roll MMC and Morally Grey Fire Daddy (think Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights meets Mr Darcy meets your favorite shadow daddy). He’s intelligent, he’s thoughtful, he has a PhD in YEARNALISM and he has a dragon. Yes, there are dragons (say less). This story stays true to its core though- overcoming what you thought would kill you and rising from the ashes of your destruction, finding a family that isn’t forged through blood and having a best friend who feels a little like your soul mate. I cannot say enough incredible things about this book and the immersive and addicting world that Bobbie created, like I want to be in the Phoenix Ring and I want Lyra to tease the crap out of me until I blush. When this book drops February 9th, YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY PURCHASE IT. Also, on her insta, Bobbie has a super fun kickstarter with all kinds of goodies. Thank you Bobbie for allowing me the privilege to read this book and for putting your soul into something so wonderful, it shows.

It has been a long time since I connected so much with a book. This was absolutely fantastic. Set in a world of elemental magic, no one person holds the ability to wield all of the elements. That is until a brutal attack befalls a farm village and an ancient power is awoken. The long awaited prophecy has finally started to come to fruition but, will FMC Amara channel for the light or the dark?

Amara’s story is so dynamic and it took me through all of the emotions. She processes grief of lives lost, of the life she thought she would have, and the person she believed herself to be. As a reader, you get to walk with her through her entire journey as she transforms into her power and it is such an incredible ride.

The romance in this book is so incredible. The tension that builds during the slow burn is absolutely epic. Thane is the ultimate book boyfriend. Broody, sexy, and fiercely supportive. Add in his group of warriors and Amara’s best friend and you have the most perfect found family. Also… DRAGONS!

What makes this book so special is that not only is the story incredible but Bobbie’s writing is gorgeous. I could not only visualize every single scene but I was completely engrossed in every moment. This is an absolute must read for romantasy and fantasy fans alike. A new favorite for sure!

Thank you so much to Bobbie for this early ARC in return for my honest review. My opinions are my own.

“Strength isn’t about knowing the answers. It’s about stepping forward even when you don’t have them.”

The very first ARC I have ever had 🥹🥹 - I'm still trying to wrap my head around this fact.

This book had probably the best social media campaign I have ever seen, which was important to me because I usually have issues with relating to new worlds / characters when I start a new book, let alone a saga. I just want to know everyone immediately, and with the AI reels for this world, I almost felt this was the case.

The book starts a bit slow to be honest, but it really picks up after the first maybe 200 pages. The world and the magic system is complex, but Bobbie did a really good job in showing and explaining these complexities, I never felt lost in the story or never felt I didn't fully understand what's happening or that information was missing. Considering that this is a debut novel, I have to say this puts the author above a lot of highly successful and well-known fantasy/romantasy authors, because it can be sometimes confusing, especially if they are running with a too complex story or multiple story lines.

I loved that the side characters were not forgotten, but I felt there is still more room to expand their stories although I know that this is only the first book in the series so I'm looking forward to know more in the coming books.

It's hard to say much about the plot without spoilers and considering that the book hasn't been published yet, the plot should probably remain "unseen", but the pacing was just well-written and mostly balanced (albeit a little slow and overexplained at the beginning), the characters are complex and easy to engage with (some of them just sucks you in and you will forget all previous book boyfriends I promise...I mean, who is Cassian again? And maybe something is wrong with me, because I'm not talking about Thane, I'm looking at you Jarek 😘)

Overall, it is a fantastic book, especially as a debut novel, and definitely deserves the same shelf right next to SJM or JLA.

I'm just annoyed that it will take a loooooong time for book 2...and please Bobbie, for the love of god, DO NOT publish endless "bonus chapters" down the line, I hate nothing more than hunting down all the random BCs, months after the books came out, and in the end the BCs are almost as long as another book would be.

So I’m giving this a 3.75 rounded up to 4. Let’s dive in.

An epic tale of war, a chosen one, fated mates, elemental magic, and dragons. Lots of great elements here.

I loved the story. I think the side characters are fantastic. Lyra has a place in my heart; we all need that friend who doesn’t take our crap and loves us through everything.

The slow burn was good. Definitely felt the tension woof!

Here’s the thing; this book is a chunky beast. Over 700 pages on my kindle. I think there is some editing that can be done and a bit can be chopped out. There were times where things got repetitive. The push pull between our MCs actually became cyclical and a lot of the same language, sentences, were repeated. And it isn’t necessary. I think it takes away from the story, that much repetition.

Same with Amara’s going back and forth about choosing Thane. You feel like you got over the hump with Amara’s doubt and then it repeats again. Same can be said for Thane, wanting Amara and walking away. Over and over one time too many.

All in all, this book is good! I really enjoyed it. But I think another round of edits and condensing will have it pristine!

Thank you so much to the author for the arc! This review is my own and given of my own volition.

I want to start by thanking Bobbie Wirkmaa for the ARC.

The book was good, the world building is good, the author is very descriptive in everything she writes about. The FMC shows a lot of growth throughout the book but was a little annoying at times and the broody MMC really opens up by the end and shares his secret that is hinted at throughout. The friends of the MC's are really good characters too and help make the book better.

But for me, I found that the chapters were far to long, some of them could have been separated into 2 or 3 chapters, some parts of the book dragged a little, there was a little too much repetition as there were some chapters I read the same thing more than once and I think there are parts of the book that could have been edited out to make a good book great.

I also feel like this book is like a combination of other books of the same genre. I feel like ideas were taken from Fourth Wing, I had a feeling of ACOTAR at times and I'm sure others, like it's pieced together from other books with a couple different elements as well, which is not necessarily bad and if you like those books then I'm sure you will like this, but to me it feels like a typical dragon/romantasy book that I have read before. Will I read the next ones though? Absolutely! because I like dragon books.
