'𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐌𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒' Is a full length friends-to-lovers, off-limits, pro hockey romance book from author Jennifer Sucevic. Spoken in dual POV's. (STEELE & LILAH)

I haven't read a book by this author in ages, or a hockey book for that matter so when I saw this one doing the rounds I couldn't help but jump on it..Once this landed, I jumped in straight away and got wrapped up in the feels like a cozy blanket.

This was the friends to lovers story I couldn’t wait to read, their transition from friends to more was everything I was seeking and was executed perfectly. Steele had been in love with his best friend for many years, but timing seemed to get in the way..

When she catches her boyfriend in the act with his secretary Steele doesn't hesitate when he offers her to stay with him at his apartment complex. Once she's under his roof he's hoping it doesn't take long until she's sharing his bed.

I seriously loved Steele, he'd do anything for Lilah and he went above and beyond when she needed him. He's that one constant guy in her life that's always been there for her. So these two becoming more made sense. They were perfect for each other, knew each other inside and out. And it didn't take long for LIlah to realise that there's always been something there simmering in the background between the two.

Summing it up if you're a fan of friends-to-lovers then this book is the perfect one to sink your teeth into, a slow burn that gets its hooks into you effortlessly. 34607668-SX540 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

Make Me Yours was my first read from Jennifer Sucevic and I'm so glad I gave it a try. I will continue to follow this author after this delightful read.

It started out a little rough, with our heroine Lilah, coming across her boyfriend cheating at work. Then getting let go, so she doesn't cause any problems for them, because, oh yeah, they worked together too! I'm getting a bit sick of this trope, so that's why I say "rough start", but that's a me thing.

But then we quickly started to turn it around because Lilah confides in her best friend, Steele, everything that happened. He had been secretly in love with her forever, so he's quick to scoop her up as his personal assistant AND make her his roomie. He even buys her a kitten to persuade her to stay. Haha! He is a dream boat.

We had a few rocky moments, but overall, this was smooth sailing as they transitioned from besties to lovers. With a few hand necklaces and some expert edging and spanking along the way. Really, it was a wonderful read. With low angst and no 3rd act break up.

There was also a great cast of side characters that I can't wait to learn more about.

This was kindly provided for me on audio and was duet narrated by Vanessa Edwin and Christian Fox. They were a delight to my ears and really elevated the story for me.

4.5 Stars
3 on the spice scale

CW: cheating (not by MC), gas-lighting parent

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
SPICE: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

🎧: okay first off the audio… the audio is fantastic and I swear listening to Christian Fox perform a book just heals all my problems. He was the perfect Steele and this audio brought me to life. It was so good and made this story even better!

Steele and Lilah stole my heart. That’s it’s. That’s the review.

They were perfect. And the pining…. Dear did that man knows how to pine for his girl. Ans make no mistake, Lilah was his girl way before she even knew it!

✨ Hockey Romance
✨ He Falls First and Hard
✨ Friends to Lovers
✨ Forced Proximity
✨ Roommates to Lovers

I’m so happy for Jen to be in her professional hockey era, because this team is already shaping up to steal my heart. And having Lilah and Steele start this one off was a perfect choice.

Se I love friends to lovers, I just eat it up, and these two had so much longing and tension and I swear I just wanted to smash their faces together and make them love each other in the best way. And when they did… oh good it was so satisfying when they just went all in and saw what was right in front of them.

Because Steele was determined to get his girl. And get her he did. The mouth I. This man was way more than I expected and I was here for it 🥵 and if you absolutely want to be edged out of your mind with a shower scene. This book will do it.

I loved the more mature aspects of this book paired with Jennifer’s brand of found family and I cannot wait for all my favorites old and new to get their books.

Also, cue excited squealing…. RIVER…. Ahhh I cannot wait.

This was a wonderful intro to a new world that gave us some sneak peeks at previous characters! I have only read the last 2 books of Western Wildcats but did not feel lost in the buildup that was Steele and Lilah. There were hints along the way in those two about his feelings for her. And OMG yall a man THIS down bad was just SO fun to read! I REALLY am loving a friends to lovers read. Especially in this instance since he was just WAITING for ANY sign that she was into the possibility of them. I love hearing his inner monologue on recognizing that she wasn't ready for what he wanted to tell her or how he wanted to show her his feelings. I really enjoyed this new setting and being introduced to all of these new characters. I tried to figure out who was going to end up with who the whole book. I REALLY loved Steele yall. This man was SUCH a great guy. He was willing to be the friend on the sideline forever without her knowing his feelings as long as she was happy. He just wanted her to be treated like the queen she is. And can we talk about the mouth on this man? The fact that he legit flipped a switch and became borderline dom- I found myself fanning my cheeks. I also loved watching their dynamic shift. Watching Lilah question why all of a sudden she is noticing Steele's body and the way he looks at her and wondering how she hadn't noticed it before. I liked them so so much because they were supportive and made each other better. Also having a decade of friendship gave them such a solid foundation!

Lilah can't believe the situation she has found herself in. Single and unemployed. Who does she call? None other than her BFF Steele. The star and captain of the Chicago Railers. Her literal rock. The one person she can always count on who is now her roommate. Who is giving her space to process while helping her recognize that she deserved so much more than how her ex was treating her. Steele who she is all of a sudden noticing is ridiculously handsome. Steele who she is starting to think about in a different way. Especially after walking in on him after the shower. What is happening? This man who she has always thought of as a friend seems to be more now. But does he feel it too? Is this only because she is hurting? She doesn't think so because there connection feels stronger than ever. And then he offers her a friends with benefits situation. To see how things go. So she can experiment and find out what she likes. She questions whether it is worth ruining their friendship but realizes she can't fight this pull anymore. And then Steele introduces her to another side of himself. A side she wants more of. A side that makes her body LIGHT up in the best ways. A side that makes her realize she likes ALL of him and beyond friendship. She realizes that he is her home. That HE is who she wants as her forever. And she is starting to think he feels that way too about her.

Steele has been in love with Lilah for ten years. Ten agonizing years while watching her fumble around with boys who don't treat her right. Ten years of watching her look at him as nothing more than a friend. But now he has a chance. A chance to show her and tell her how he feels. She is single for the first time in a long time and she is at a crossroads with work. He decides he doesn't want to scare her away. He is too invested. But he also doesn't want to lose her again. So he quietly bides his time. He lets her look and watches as the way she looks at him changes. It shifts to hunger. To wanting more. It shifts to how he has been looking at her for the last ten years. But instead of immediately going down on one knee, he reads the room. He offers her an escape. An escape with him and his body. An escape to open her mind and let their connection thrive. They can do a friends with benefits. At least that is what he says but all the while he wants this as his in. He wants to show her that no one else can treat her this way. But he doesn't only want her body. He wants her heart, her future, her smiles, her everything. And he finally gets to see the moment she realizes she wants all of that too and part of him thinks it MIGHT have been worth the wait.

This was SO delicious! The build up was perfect. I KNEW Steele was going to be such a dom in the bedroom. He proved me right! Their chemistry was off the charts. But not only that, I loved how Steele helped her build her confidence up again. How he helped give her the space she needed to figure out what she wanted to do with her life. How he was just there for her. I just LOVED these two. I also am REALLY looking forward to the rest of these guys falling for their ladies and falling HARD. Can't wait for book 2! Highly recommend this as a nice intro to a new world of hockey hotties and their leading ladies :)

Thank you to Luna Literary and Jennifer for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Started off strong and then….dropped off completely. The MMC went from being obsessed and pining for her for 10 years giving off every sweet green flag imaginable to going into full kink mode with spanking and cigar play straight up. Eew. Gave me the ick to be honest and sort of lost me from that point. Additionally, the FMC was a doormat. The end.

*Close proximity
*Spicy

Hmmmmm, it was a three star read as I thought it was just okay, not great.

First off, for someone to claim as Steele did that has been in love with this best friend, Lilah, for the last 10 years! His lucky charm, as he puts her and he just couldn't tell her how he feels...just felt off to me as he loved her so much, he was only abstinent for the last 18 months. Not good enough for me as a reader, I want abstinence for the last 10 years as well! Unrealistic....it's fiction! As he claims several times of his love for the last decade! She didn't know how he felt and had a few boyfriends over the last decade since college.

Also, the friendship group that Lilah has with the rest of the women in the story felt unauthentic and fake, and just to prove to the reader that she is a girls girl. Furthermore, Lilah is so hung up on the ex (she caught him cheating), which was annoying. She had moved on with Steele, so it was tedious.

Will I read the rest of the series... unlikely.

Ugh Lilah & Steele have my heart!!! 🥹 This was such a good friends to lovers romance.

Steele was so swoony & just basically everything you could ever want in a man. A cinnamon roll w/ a very surprising dominant side 😮‍💨🔥

Definitely my fave book I’ve read by Jennifer so far!!🥰

This one star is solely for me because i made it till the end of the book. there was a lot of frustration, anger and what not but at the end it was only relief that thank god it was over.

I personally didn’t enjoy the book at ALL. it was boring, chemistry was bland, I couldn’t connect with them. i think the emotional connection between them wasn’t really that good, very repetitive and BOOOORING😭

I am firmly in my hockey romance era, especially when it involves a guy who is down bad, and Make Me Yours totally delivered.

Steele is the kind of MMC I fall for every time. He’s the dependable friend who’s always been there, but now he’s ready to step up, take the lead, and be everything Lilah needs—emotionally, physically (wink wink), and then some. The man is devoted in the most delicious way.

Lilah is fresh out of a terrible relationship and finally sees Steele for more than just her rock. Watching her realize he’s not just sweet and safe but also sexy and assertive? Perfection. Their chemistry is scorching, and when Steele starts showing his more dominant side? Whew. 🔥

What I loved most was the mutual care. Steele’s instinct is to protect and provide, but Lilah also shows up for him, proving she can be his safe place too.

This was my first book by Jennifer Sucevic and I devoured all 400+ pages in one sitting. I’m officially obsessed and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

I love a good friends to lovers romance. I mean, it leads to so much pining and angst. Because they're friends, they're around each other but they're not together! And that's how it is here. We see from the get go how much they care about each other, but yet not together!

Steele has been in love with Lilah for years. She's his Lucky Charm, a good friend who never misses a home game. Until she does, and it's got him worried. Reason? She's done with her ex and now needs basically everything.

Steele shows up for her. He takes care of her so well. Gives her all the support she needs AND gives her things she's always wanted. And all this while they're still friends! She's got some things to get over, though. Her parents are... blech and the ex? Ugh, she was too good for him.

It's really full of sweetness, ya'll. I love reading about a good guy, and this one was really good.

My first ARC and I can say I was not disappointed.

This is a friends to lovers romance and it was just the sweetest most wholesome book 🥰 Lilah and Steele have been best friends since college and she’s always been his “lucky charm”.
I loved Steele from the moment he was introduced

CHAPTER 15… never have I read something so intimate yet not at the same time? I can’t describe it, you need to read it for yourself!

I love myself a golden retriever MMC and Steele Sanderson it’s be biggest golden retriever I’ve found so far 🥹
I love how he gave Lilah her safety and gave her the time and space to realise what she needed and wanted 🩷
Also the fact there is not 3rd Act Breakup!!! YES!

It’s the first book of Jennifer’s I’ve read and rest assured I will be going back to read more. I love her writing style. It’s not overly complicated, just perfect.
I could honestly go on about this book forever, but I won’t. I’ll just tell you to read it 🩷

disappointing

Ok. I have waited through so many books to see these two get together. The book was ok, but honestly their intimate scenes seemed to out of pocket. In my opinion their actions didn’t fit their character or the history of their relationship and it was off putting to me. I had a hard time feeling like it wasn’t a betrayal of their actual decade long friendship. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind any of it when it fits the story. I love dark and kinky stuff but this just felt wrong for this couple. I felt it should have been more deep and meaningful with no cigars please. Too Monica Lewinsky for my taste 🤪

two-point-five stars

a hockey romance with a mmc who has been in love with the fmc for years sounds absolutely like something i would devour. and while make me yours does deliver on the premise, giving me everything that i was promised in an understanding, gentle, devoted and protective mmc—parts of the book, particularly in the development of their relationship, fell short for me.

steele and lilah have been friends for a decade, and after lilah’s life is upended in one short evening, the two begin to finally toe that line between friendship—and something more. this back and forth brought some really excellent and steamy scenes filled with sizzling tension and incredible yearning. steele is determined to be and do everything for lilah, and that man says and does some hand-over-mouth, feet-kicking, crazy things. there is one particular scene that had me yelling it was so good. (i won’t give anything away but let’s just say i love when unconventional props are used👀)

while i really thought their physical connection and the sexual tension was leaping off the page, i struggled to fully believe in and connect with steele and lilah’s emotional bond. jennifer sucevic draws on their fond memories and long years of friendship to emphasize how much they mean to each other, particularly as a basis for steele’s feelings already coming into the book. however, we learn very little about their ten years of friendship, and so much of their relationship that we do see relies on vaguely referencing that past to do the heavy lifting.

overall, this was an extremely binge-able read that i tore through in nearly one sitting. and while there were aspects of the romance that i didn’t fully connect with, there was enough tension, heat, and friends-to-lovers goodness to keep me hooked while reading.

thank you so much to valentine pr and jennifer sucevic for the gifted e-arc!

🇮🇹

- Steele, è praticamente impossibile non innamorarsi di lui. Cioè possessivo, protettivo (aggiungo anche stufo di aspettare) ed è veramente un cuore di panna! Poi farebbe veramente DI TUTTO per lei. Insomma mi si sono alzati di nuovo gli standard;

🇬🇧

So this is the first book I've read by this author, and I have to say it exceeded my expectations.

To summarize the plot: Steele and Lilah have been best friends for years, his safe haven, his certainty. Lilah had been engaged to him for years and worked with him (he was her boss), but she discovers an affair, and Steele invites her to his apartment, even offering to temporarily work as his personal assistant, as his schedule as a hockey player was practically in chaos.

I forgot to mention that he's been under a thousand trains for her for practically ages.

Let's move on to the structure and story: I loved the writing style, found the spicy scenes and the plot well-balanced. I found the evolution of their relationship and their feelings (especially on her part) to be super coherent.

Regarding the characters:
- Steele, it's practically impossible not to fall in love with him. He's possessive, protective (I might also add, tired of waiting), and he's truly a man of cream! He would do ANYTHING for her. In short, my standards were raised again;
- Lilah, I loved how she put herself out there after being disappointed in her previous relationship. She wanted to make Steele understand that she, too, can be his safe haven.

Furthermore, the most important thing is that she rediscovered herself and turned her life around, both personally and professionally. In summary, this book fully deserves my 4 stars.

“Look at you. Completely undone just for me.”

This follows Lilah and Steele best friends for the past ten years. Steele has been completely obsessed with Lilah, but she’s always been out of reach. That changes when she walks in on her ex-boyfriend with another woman. I’m her safe space, the one she runs to. I offer her a place to stay and a new job now’s my chance to make her mine.

First off, the audiobook is fantastic Vanessa and Christian did an amazing job narrating, so I highly recommend picking it up in this format. Steele’s character is perfection. This man is utterly obsessed, and the way he treated her was delicious. The flirty tension and undeniable chemistry, paired with his patience yet constant need for her, had me hooked.

Lilah was so vulnerable with Steele and found comfort in him. In doing so, she uncovered feelings she had always carried for him. The spice was incredible, and the way this man drew out the wait at times made me want to scream. This is a character-driven story with a captivating storyline, and it was such an enjoyable read.

Hockey romance

FMC was bland and boring but for some reason the MMC was hung up on her for a decade. She was still crying over her ex literally after she and the MMC were hooking up, which was super weird. The cigar scene gave me ALL the ick. And the big issue at the end seemed like such a non-issue.

However, the other couples - Callie, Rina, etc seemed so much more intriguing so I guess this was ok as a series starter. And the audio was pretty good.

Make Me Yours by Jennifer Sucevic
4,25/5⭐
2,5/5🌶️

This book is such a sweet and adorable journey from best friends to lovers! Steele has been in love with Lilah for years, but every time he tries to confess his feelings, the timing doesn’t seem right. Then, one fateful day, Lilah catches her boyfriend cheating on her. With nowhere to go and no job, Steele steps in and offers her a place to stay while working as his personal assistant.

Lilah is a lovely character — sweet, smart, beautiful, and clueless when it comes to Steele’s feelings for her. She’s always felt comfortable with him, and he’s been her rock through so much. After the breakup, she begins to question what she truly wants out of life, and I admire how she confronts her insecurities and stands up to her parents to pursue her happiness.

Steele, the hockey captain, is everything you could want in a guy! He genuinely wants Lilah to be happy and has always been there for her. I loved how sweet, thoughtful, and steady he is, loving her quietly from the sidelines. Once Lilah breaks up with her boyfriend, Steele sees it as his chance to show her how he truly feels, but he’s also respectful of her feelings and lets her set the pace. His honesty and support for her are heartwarming.

The swoon-worthy moments that Steele did for Lilah made my heart melt. It’s clear from the very beginning how deeply he loves her, and watching her eventually realize that he’s the one for her was just so satisfying. The other characters were fantastic too, and I’m excited to dive into their stories in the future!

Make Me Yours is the first book in the Chicago Railers Hockey series and my first Jennifer Sucevic. It is a sweet friends to lover's romance featuring one dedicated, pining hero.

Steele has been in love with Lilah since they were in college, but he has been stuck in the friend zone. He has been pining after her for so long. Lilah catches her boyfriend cheating on her, and she has no place to go after their relationship ends, so Steele offers up his place. He is determined to take this opportunity to finally show her perfect match and has been in front of her this whole time.

Steele was so caring and attentive to Lilah. This man is such a swoon worthy hero, and he also had a dominant side. It was hot!

This audiobook had duet narration by Christian Fox and Vanessa Edwin. I think this might be the first time I listened to Christian Fox, and I loved his performance. He was perfect as the sweet and dirty talking Steele. I would definitely recommend this audio, especially if you love a good friends to lover's romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! While I'm not usually the biggest fan of the friends to lovers trope, this book really hit the spot. There was plenty of tangled history and emotional depth between the two main characters, which kept me utterly hooked.

What truly stood out for me was the brilliant supporting cast. Often, in these interconnected series, the focus can be almost exclusively on the main couple – which is fair enough, as it means you can often read them as standalones. However, what I loved about this particular book was that it works perfectly well on its own, yet it still made me feel genuinely invested in the lives of the other characters. Now I'm itching to dive into the rest of the series, and even check out characters mentioned from the author's other works!

Do I have favourites? Absolutely. I'm really keen to delve into Rina's story, and I'm equally intrigued by Evelyn's. The great thing is, even if they don't get their own standalone books, I'm confident in Jennifer's writing style. I know enough of their journeys will be explored in whichever character's story comes next in the series.

All in all, this is a solid read if you're a fan of friends-to-lovers. Without giving too much away, the way the spicy scenes are woven in with the romantic moments between the two characters is just chef's kiss. The pacing is super fast too; I absolutely devoured it in a day because it was just so addictive. I'll definitely be picking up the future books as soon as they're out!

“I want Lilah Monroe. Not just for tonight. Not just for tomorrow. But for every damn day after.”

𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐌𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 is the first book in the Chicago Railers hockey series by Jennifer Sucevic.

I devoured this book and was swooning at how sweet Steele is! He’s been crushing on Lilah for years and after the tension starts building between these two, it’s no wonder when it eventually snaps! I absolutely adore the friendship they’ve had and it makes it so easy for their relationship to grow.

Audiobook🎧: Narrated in duet by Vanessa Edwin & Christian Fox - this was such a freaking good performance from both of them! I wanted to keep listening and it was so easy to follow along with the story! Easily one of my favorite audios for a hockey romance!

𝕎ℍ𝔸𝕋 𝕋𝕆 𝔼𝕏ℙ𝔼ℂ𝕋:
🩵hockey romance
🩵friends to lovers
🩵roommates
🩵golden retriever mmc
🩵he falls first
🩵found family
🩵friend with benefits
🩵secret crush
🩵slow burn

Also that extra bonus epilogue….I’m going to need more of them ASAP!

Thank you to Valentine PR & Jennifer Sucevic for letting me listen to an ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

When Lilah discovers her boyfriend has been unfaithful, she turns to the one person who’s always been her rock, her longtime best friend, Steele. What she doesn’t know is that Steele has been in love with her for years. Now that she's single, he's finally ready to make his move. Lilah is torn and afraid to risk their friendship, but unable to ignore the undeniable spark between them.
I loved watching their story unfold. Steele’s unwavering support and the confidence he gives Lilah made their connection feel so genuine. He's not just her safe place, he’s her biggest cheerleader. Vanessa Edwin and Christian Fox brought these characters to life beautifully. Their performance captured every nuance of Lilah and Steele’s relationship, making the story even more heartfelt. It's a hockey romance you don't want to miss!

Thank you, Jennifer Sucevic and Must Love Audio for the ALC.

This book was unlike any other romance book I’ve read. I’ve never had an author play with their reader like the hero (Steele) plays with the love of his life (Lilah).

By the time they actually had sex, I was begging- like Lilah, for them to do it!

Steele was amazing- a big teddy bear of a best friend, and an absolute dominant in the bedroom. He’s such a solid hero, too. He vowed to always catch Lilah and he absolutely stayed true to his word. No third act breakup here! Steele was exactly who he said he’d be- everything to Lilah.

I’m looking forward to more of this series. I’m excited to read Callie and River’s story. I just know that Zane put Callie through all kinds of shit and I’m hoping that River picks up all the pieces.

And Rina and Oliver’s story too! I’m sure Rina will fight Oliver the entire way, but I’m hoping Oliver’s sense of humor wins her over.

This was such a feel good romance. I’m anticipating the other books in this series, so hard!!

✨️ALC Review✨️

Aunt Evelyn, such an amazing one, n sees she deserves someone better. cause lila ex sucked!!!! so does her parents, especially her mother.

Steele Sanderson, that man is everything not going lie im sucker for best friend turn love . and Steele is the perfect example of exactly what I needed and wanted .

Rina, in chapter 5, she had me cracking up .

chapter 28 and 29, i was loving those .

the end of chapter 46 is so cute and the way Steele can tell or sense. When lila spirals when she is stuck in her head, I can relate to lila on that .

"I want Lilah Monroe. Not just for tonight. Not just for tomorrow. But for the every damn day after."

This was my first Jennifer Sucevic book an it definitely won't be my last! I've never been one to read a friends to lovers romance, but the chemistry between Steele and Lilah made me love this and want to give the trope another shot.

I swooned, cried, squirmed, and laughed. The story and the characters I fell in love with. I can't wait to continue this series and see the rest of the group's stories!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶

Okay… Steele Sanderson? Yeah, he’s officially ruined me for all future fictional men. 😮‍💨
If you love your heroes protective, a little bossy, and absolutely feral when it comes to the girl they’ve always wanted—this one’s going to have you kicking your feet.

This book is the perfect cocktail of:
🏒 Friends-to-Lovers
🏒 Forced Proximity
🏒 “She’s always been mine” energy
🏒 Off-limits tension that will make you scream into your pillow

Jennifer Sucevic delivers the longing, the banter, and the oh-my-god-just-kiss moments so well that I was grinning like a fool one minute and fanning myself the next. And the pining? Delicious. The payoff? Even better.

I’m calling it now—this Chicago Railers series is about to be my entire personality. 😜

Im giving this book 1 star purely because it was readable on the most basic level, but that was probably the only positive about it.

First off, the majority of the book appears to be written by AI and almost every single chapter had “it’s not [X], it’s [Y]” in it. I could not get past the AI voice of this. It’s the main reason why I hated this book.

The characters also had no sense of consistency whatsoever. The MMC went from this really cool golden retriever best friend vibe, to some sort of hideous Christian Grey esque cringe “dom” who fucks her with a cigar?! Wtf?! As for the FMC, (I’m loathe to even refer to her character, as that would require her to have even the barest whisper of a personality) she is the most milquetoast, wet creature the author (or AI bot) could have written.

On top of awful character development, the story was very choppy and the chemistry between the characters was basically non-existent. They’re supposedly college friends but there’s no backstory or context given. Beyond the MMC treating the FMC like a fragile porcelain doll and incessantly calling her “lucky charm” as her nickname, there’s no real emotional intimacy shown either (there was so much promise for the concussion scene but that was squandered).

I would also say that calling this a sports romance is generous, the MMC is a hockey player and there are a couple of mentions of games and locker rooms, but that’s it. There aren’t any real sports scenes in the book, which I personally really love about sports romances and feel are pretty key to the genre.

Overall, this book was just BAD. I’m just glad I finished it. I don’t usually leave written reviews for books I don’t like, but I felt so bamboozled by the goodreads reviews being a 4.0 average, that I needed to leave this one in the hopes I help someone else avoid what happened to me.

1/5 truly terrible.

ARC Review!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Tropes: Best friends to lovers, hockey player, found family, boy obsessed

Omg, I loved this book! I was completely hooked from the very first chapter and couldn’t put it down. It had so many of my favorite tropes — best friends to lovers, found family, and an obsessed hockey player? Yes, please!

One of the things that I enjoyed the most was how deeply caring Steele was toward Lilah. He wasn’t just sweet — he was protective, patient, and all in from the beginning. Their chemistry and emotional connection made their relationship so much stronger and authentic!

I also loved how the author set up the other characters that are most likely going to be part of the next books in the series. I already need more from this universe!

I highly recommend you read this book if you want a fun, but emotional, and addicting romance.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Jennifer Sucevic for sending me this arc! ☺️🤍

For a hockey romance, there is very little of the sport. I didn't find myself engaged in the romance because there were very little about Steele's background that we know of or how he and Lilah became friends and how he fell in love with her. I wish this book was executed better.
