Excellent novel from start to finish.
I hadn’t read a fictional novel since I was in High School, and with my author friend Mr Colacarro leaving a mark on me with “Mountains”, I had to read his debut novel. I was on the verge of tears almost every chapter, and full blown crying on the others, especially the last 4.

The main character, Matty’s journey of self-discovery isn’t exactly relatable to me, but I was able to visualize and experience everything he was going through perfectly. As an MLM member of the LGBTQ+ community, I know what it’s like to repress your feelings of attraction, up until the point you can’t take it anymore. I can only imagine what losing your one reliable parent when you’re not even out of high school is like. The people he meets on his journey are very interesting, especially Antonio the bartender and his best friend turned boyfriend Jack.

Jack and Matty’s friends-to-lovers arc is both beautiful and tragic. I like to think that Jack saved him, but at the cost of his own life. I won’t get into what happened near the end because I’ll start crying, but overall this novel will have you glued to it from start to finish. I highly recommend.

To my good friend, John who wrote this beautifully tragic story, much love for you lil bro, and I’m eagerly anticipating your next novel.
