For the Brave - Understanding anxiety This book is everything I wish I’d known when I first went through anxiety myself, and everything I’ve learned since. I wrote it for my daughter, to give her back what anxiety tried to clarity, courage, and the literal truth that she’s not broken. It’s all the things I wanted her to know when I couldn’t be there to say them.
That anxiety doesn’t define you. That it’s not a character flaw. It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s just a reaction, a misfiring of safety signals. It’s biology, emotion, and habit colliding in a storm of overwhelm and a horrible sense of “I’m not safe.” But once you understand how and why it happens, anxiety starts to lose its grip, stops feeling so frightening, and that’s when healing can truly begin.
I hope this book helps you find your way back to yourself, because no matter what anxiety tells you, you’re still whole, still you. And so, so much braver than you know.
