Holy fucking shitballs!!!!!

This damn near gave me a heart attack. Luckily the author is my friend, so I’ll be messaging her directly with my therapist’s bill! 💸

In all seriousness what an amazing, devastating, thrilling , sexy book. Alex and Kennedy literally own me, and I can’t wait to see what they’ll be up to in the next book.

A dark and deliciously pacy mafia romance I couldn’t put down!

I don’t often read mafia or dark romance novels but the premise of this: A vengeance fuelled FMC raised in the criminal world, meets a former mercenary who left the life behind (to start a business catering to the criminal underworld.) And the lengths they’re willing to go to defy their own carefully orchestrated rules—just to be together, was irresistibly intriguing!

I loved Kennedy, our badass FMC soo much. Having lost her mum as a child (and desperate for vengeance on the man who caused it) Kennedy has honed herself into a living weapon (Elektra Natchios-style) and is not afraid to get her hands dirty. I loved the strength, self reliance and ruthlessness she shows. But it was the glimmers of emotional vulnerability, as she fights against the suffocating expectations (and legacy of her kingpin father) that really made her such an endearing character.

Likewise, Alexander, a was a sinfully sexy, cinnamon roll MC that I really enjoyed getting to know. His gruff, protective nature and devotion to the people he cares for most was incredibly swoon-worthy. But it was his eagerness to be whatever Kennedy needed (as well as falling head over heals first) that really made him all the more delicious.

I will say the pacing is swift (which I really enjoyed, though is something to consider if you’re more of a slow-burn fanatic.) But it did bring a sense of urgency and danger to Kennedy and Alexander’s growing relationship that I found addictive. And had me eager to see how they’d handle the struggles and challenges sent their way.

I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’m gonna leave things there. But if you love your romances dark, yet full of found family vibes and morally grey MCs to obsess over—then I throughly suggest checking this out. Just be sure to check TWs.

Also thanks to the author for the proof & my spot on the street team.

*Thank you so much for the ARC in exchange for my honest review*

Congratulations to Ashleigh on her DEBUT self-published novel! I have been following Ashleigh since she began this journey and I am so impressed!

About the book:
Kennedy is the daughter of a drug boss. Her mother was killed when Kennedy was young and she has let that rage and despair drive her journey and training to avenge her killer. However, Kennedy has a feeling her dad is dragging things out just to make use of her skills, and she is done. During her plans to find her mother's killer on her own, wrap things up herself and leave, Kennedy meets Alex, the boss of a VIP lounge for those working in crime. Not all of Kennedy's schemes go as planned, especially when it comes to the handsome and driven Alex.

Things I enjoyed:
- I honestly thought this was excellent for a debut novel.
- Kennedy is both fierce and vulnerable. I appreciated her duality.
- I loved the found family in this book!! I'm a sucker for found family
- Do I spy what the second novel might be?! If so, I'm so ready for it!

Me being picky:
- Some of the dialogue felt formal and a little stiff. It just threw me off sometimes, because the writing and description wasn't formal, and then all of a sudden they were speaking so formally!
- While things went off the rails at times, I felt like the ending wrapped up a little too neatly. I would have LOVED the scene where Alex swooped in at the end from his perspective!

~ Mafia Romance
~ Strong FMC
~ Forced Proximity

4.5/5⭐

✨ My Thoughts ✨
This one was so addicting. I enjoyed every minute of this read. Kennedy is a badass FMC. Her story and growth in this book was so great to read. She has seriously become one of my favorite FMC. The chemistry and banter in this book was delicious. I seriously couldn't get enough. There is a bit of found family in this book too. Our MMC Alexander was so dreamy. He is definitely a protector of those he cares about but still has the vibes of a cinnamon roll MMC. I thought the pacing in this book was great. I don't give away spoilers but umm... I was so shocked with the ending of the book. I have so many questions. Mafia romance isn't my general go-to but I knew I had to read it based on the blurb and the art of the characters. I truly wasn't disappointed. I can't recommend this one enough for those who love a mafia romance with some darkness too.

Redeem is out now. It is also Ashleigh's debut novel. This book is recommended for 18+. As always please check TW before reading.

✨ I want to thank Ashleigh for an e-arc of this book. These are my own true thoughts. ✨

Yo… this a debut? Nah, because it read like someone who’s been running with some of the best in the mafia romance game for years. Dark, dangerous, and fast as hell. Yup, this book had me locked in from jump.

Kennedy? That girl is lethal. Raised by wolves, trained for pain, and fueled by revenge, she’s a whole weapon walking. But what got me wasn’t just the steel, it was those quiet moments where her walls cracked and you saw the daughter still trying to crawl out from under her father’s empire. She’s fierce, vulnerable, and messy in the best way. I’d ride with her any day.

And then there’s Alexander. Lord help me. A retired mercenary who should’ve been out the game but somehow built a business that caters to it instead? That mix of gruff protector and soft for her energy had me in shambles. Man fell first, fell hard, and didn’t care who knew it. His whole vibe screams: “I’ll kill for you, but I’ll also cook you dinner.” And honestly, I’m not mad at it.

The story moves quick…no slow burn here. It’s all fire, tension, and that kind of urgency where every choice feels like it could be their last. I know some people want that long simmer, but this pacing kept me strapped in, flipping pages like I was running out of time.

It’s not flawless, but it’s real good. Dark romance with found family vibes, morally grey edges, and a couple that’ll make you believe in ride or die love again. Four stars, easy. And yeah! Please check the trigger warnings before you dive in, because this one doesn’t play soft. Thank you for the ARC Ashleigh!

I was locked in. Redeemed is a dangerous love, forced proximity, anti-hero moment that I sunk into. Ashleigh T. Logan created a tense world with a beautifully written romance. I am so happy for Ashleigh and her success for her first novel.

Kennedy is “death’s shadow,” an assassin created out of vengeance and promises of violence. I loved that the shifts in Kennedy’s demeanor were not-so-subtle enough that I missed them as a reader when she went from sweet and sexy woman to assassin. She definitely falls into the trope of the anti-hero because she’s a k!ller with a newly found conscious. I didn’t like that Kennedy was naive to the realizations that she learned. It almost didn’t feel believable.

Alexander is pleasantly not complicated and willfully running in head first to Kennedy’s mess. I loved that he took his time with his developing feelings for her and gave himself space to process if it was what he wanted in his life. I didn’t like his immediate loyalty. It felt like he should have questioned who she was more. Their forced proximity did make a difference, but some of those moments were closed-door.

The plot had steady twists and turns but always went back to Kennedy’s reasons to avenge the “murder” or “disappearance” of her mother. My favorite element was the description of Emerald Nights. The colors and vibes were all there. Ashleigh did an excellent job of consistently showing the reader the dangers of this world.

Conclusion & Recommendation:
Overall I loved the building romance between Kennedy and Alexander even though I found it very slow burn. Something that Ashleigh did well was convey the feelings of both characters when it came to be completely truthful to each other and the potential concept of being all in for each other. I definitely recommend this story.

Star Rating:
⭐⭐⭐⭐: Though this plot was very much like most mafia romances, the character’s relationship development was something that kept my attention; how their lives/relationship grew while the plot moved and shifted.

Spice Level:
🌶️🌶️🌶️💋: Tension, kissing and open door sex scenes, but they are very short. Slow burn.

This was great! I kept in mind that this was a debut so I tend to be less critical than with an author with 20 books and 15 year experience.

The premise was really good. Pretty standard mafia romance. I do think this is my first multicultural one with a Black female and a white male so star there because relatable for me. I liked that it wasnt a big deal either, they just were and its accepted and we can have a romance between them without the reality of what comes with it so I can just enjoy the book.

I do love that Kennedy is a badass, however she kinda was dumb at times (emotionally charged decisions) and cried a little too much but I tend to be harsher on FMC (i know, its a problem).

I think the only deduction came from the pet names and some MMC moments which is a me thing. It got a little too cheesy for a mafia romance in my opinion.

All in all, it was something I was able to read in one sitting and that doesn't happen with every book.

Congrats to this author on their debut!!

Intriguing story where everyone is morally grey

This was a good story, with a bada$$ FMC who showed how to move past strong emotions.
It follows Kennedy who is her "father's" personal assassin, he manipulates her and is cold towards her but expects her to take over his drug empire.
Alexander who is an ex mercinary that decided the life wasn't for him, instead he opens up a night club with an exclusive VIP to criminal to conduct business without fear of injury.
They come together when she's trying to become a member to aid her plans and they hit it off, both wanting to see where it goes even though they've hidden their pasts from one another. Even when they finally share their skeletons they make the decision to stick by one another.
Some of the twists were expected and others were not, was a good balance between them.

Wowwww this was SO GOOD!!! If you told me you didn’t see that twist coming, I would say WHICH ONE OMGGGGGG. There are multiple twists and turns and I saw exactly zero of them coming. Holy cow. The last 20% is a wild ride.

Kennedy is a straight up badass. Alex is a golden retriever in the body of a former killer.

I really liked all the characters and felt like they’re real people. It’s really well written. I neeeeeed a Tori and Patrick book please and thank you.

Justice for >>redacted name here<<. 😭

There were a few points when there were more violent details than I personally needed, but it didn’t take away from the story for me and I will be reading the next book as soon as it comes out.

(This book ends on a light cliffhanger.)

"I punch my fist into his nose because honestly, his tone was uncalled for."
"The evening still ends with someone dead and their blood on my hands."

Thanks to the author for an e-arc! This is an intriguing and fast paced mafia romance, I enjoyed reading this, the beginning of the story immediately grabs your attention with the action. Kennedy is tired of living in her father's shadow and I love how she slowly walks into a courageous and brave woman to change her circumstances. Lots of action, and cute witty banter as well. This was an enjoyable read.

Congratulations to Ashleigh T. Logan on her debut novel! Redeemed was well-written and I can only see Ashleigh going up from here. Thank you for the e-arc and this is my honest review.

LOVE a morally grey MMC like Kennedy. She was vicious towards her enemies and the emotional turmoil she went through with her family was quite tangible to me. I found the idea of Alex's neutral zone business a fascinating concept, though maybe it's common and I just don't read much mafia romance? Either way, it made for a great device in the story.

I hope to see more of these characters in the future!

Redeemed is Ashleigh T. Logan's debut novel and it is a heartstopping page turner!!! 💜🥹🥹🥹
Kennedy Rose is on a spiraling avenging spree as the realities of her life are uncovered. I did not see these plot twists coming ! How do you restructure everything you've been taught and reprogram your mind and heart after betrayal and deception from those closest to you? Alexander is that guy!! the one Kennedy needed throughout... Sooooo in love with their relationship!

Definite read for fans of soft romance who like to dip their toes now and then into a little psychopathy and suspense. Especially if you like your FMC soft but badass. I have a special place in my heart for authors who surprise me with twists, and I didn’t see the big one coming in this. Great debut release from a new indie author! Looking forward to more from her!

Kennedy and Alexander

This is a new author to me and I loved the book. It was well written and a good storyline that I couldn’t put down. Mafia, assassin, slow burn. They are both assassins and what happens when you want out…. This is a must read!

this is for those who love a good mafia book, a badass FMC, some found family and burning things up from the inside out.
Kennedy is starting to take matters into her own hands and step out of the shadows of her father, until she runs into him.....Alex, the hottest night club owner with maybe a few secrets of his own. I loved navigating their relationship, their revenge and their chemistry together!!

I truly can't believe that this is Ashleigh's DEBUT novel! this was so so so so good! I am truly a sucker for a good mafia book and this had all my favorite little bits wrapped up so nicely within these pages.

thank you to Ashleigh for a copy of this e-arc!
