Cooper didn’t mean to summon a demon. He may be a hacker for the Mafia, but he’s not exactly brave or adventurous by nature. He was only trying to do a small, easy job for his terrifying boss and then get back to not leaving the house for days on end. Only now that the demon’s here, promising to be Cooper’s friend for as long as he needs one, Cooper might just be lonely enough to let him.
Chaos knew it was finally his time to get summoned. No more being stuck in the boring Void, no more hanging out with the same three dull demons. It’s time for madness and mayhem and answering to no one but himself. Except Chaos doesn't expect his newest summoner to be quite so…timid. And sweet. And willing to cater to every single one of Chaos’s many wants and whims. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to stick around for an eternity or two.
Now Chaos just needs to convince his new friend that it really isn’t all that scary to be mated to a demon, even one who loves to play with fire.
Calling Chaos is a heated MM paranormal romance. It feature a lonely, socially anxious hacker and the wily, wicked, and slightly feral demon who wants to play with him forever. It also contains “it’s just practice” bedroom lessons, Mafia meetings gone awry, and the joys of stealing your not-boyfriend’s hoodies.
Grae Bryan has been reading romance since she was far too young to know any better. Her love for love stories spans all genres, and while her current series is of the paranormal variety, she knows she’ll be exploring other worlds further down the line.
She lives in Arizona with her husband, who graciously shares space with all the imaginary men in her head. When not writing, she can generally be found reading more than is healthy, walking her monster-dog, or cuddling her demon-cat. She loves anything and everything gothic, strange, lovely, or cozy.
Utterly delightful, sexy and silly in equal measure, Chaos and Cooper's story was a super quick read. Not terribly substantial, but sweet and fluffy and fun like cotton candy.
Chaos annoyed me at first. He's wild and sly and impatient.
But Cooper, being the anxious, fearful thing that he is, took in all this manic energy and LIKED it.
Somehow these two complemented each other perfectly.
Bit of violence and bloodshed and a missing pinkie or two ... we are dealing with demons after all.
I'm intrigued by Matty and Nightmare coming up next.
This was a really fun read but if you took out all of the overlap with Ivan and Nix's story, there's not all that much that happens between Coop and Chaos, which was a little disappointing.
I enjoyed how Chaos was so instant in knowing what he wanted, and I liked the showdown between Red Rabbit and Chaos, but other than a couple of events and a lot of sex scenes, there honestly wasn't much going on. I also really hate flashbacks and I think there were a couple which I did skim over because it just compounded what Cooper had already said about his rough childhood and going to work for the family. For me to like a flashback it needs to be something that hasn't been established in the story already, otherwise it's just repetition and for me it slows the pacing of the story down.
I guess I kind of wanted more of a separate romance story for Cooper and Chaos rather than them fitting into the few gaps that were left in Ivan and Nix's story? Still enjoyable to read but I'm hoping that Matty and Nightmare's book has a little more substance to it.
this has been one of the better mm series i've read these few months, i love the relationships - the chemistry is at least existent and relatively well-written.
i think this might be my favourite of the series since i really like chaos, he's so fun and chaotic(haha) and him and cooper's dynamic feels like a breath of fresh air.
also, not me only realising halfway through the second book that alexei is in fact the alexei from vampire's mate book 4. oops.
This was just so much fun to read. Bracchus is the perfect chaos demon and mischief goblin and he made me laugh and swoon. And sweet Cooper just wanted a friend but found so much more. Their interactions are just too cute, Cooper accepting Chaos and Chaos just caring for his puppy. This series is so entertaining, I can't wait for Nightmare's book.
This might be my favourite one yet in this excellent series from Grae.
There's not much more I enjoy in a paranormal romance than two utterly different people finding that together they're a perfect match.
Chaos is just the kind of character I love too, at heart, he has an out of control ability to experience and explore all that's on offer without anything holding him back.
He's childlike, but not childish, his passion for the mayhem that swirls around the world is what makes him so perfect for bringing Cooper out of his own head and giving him a solid foundation on which to let loose some of his fears.
This is super sweet, in its own chaotic fashion, it's also smoking hot once Cooper realises he does want to get jiggy with his demon friend.
I've loved how each of the relationships in this series, while they have commonality in the summoning and demon bonding aspects, have all taken such different journeys to reach that point.
Now there's just Nightmare to get out of the Void and I'm fascinated by the idea of it being Matteo that does it for him!
well, i fear there’s a new fav couple in this villa.
i’m here for chaos’s energy. absolutely wild, definitely manic, and oh so possessive - what a *chef’s kiss* combo.
and then there’s sweet cooper. so shy, quiet, unsure, just a little ball of anxiety.
i knew these two were going to be everything to me but ohhh my gosh, i wasn’t prepared. i adore them sm. they were so much fun, too. i read this in literally nearly one sitting.
also, the nickname “puppy” as a pet name is gonna do it for me every time. this series from grae just does it for me every single time. 😌
finished this a while back but didn’t write a review right away so i don’t have anything to say about this book because i can’t remember anything!!!! pretty sure i liked it. but i do know that i am super excited for the next book. big scary monster with scared little human?? YES
Grae Bryan’s books are like catnip. I am utterly obsessed with all of them and this one was another absolute banger!
Calling Chaos follows anxious, introverted Cooper, the tech genius working in his cousin Ivan’s mafia empire (if you’ve read the first two books in the series, you’ll be well acquainted with Ivan and Nix, who appear a lot in this book!). Cooper suffers from severe anxiety and when Ivan orders him to digitise a series of old books he is too afraid so say no… so it takes him by surprise when one of the books accidentally leads him to summon an adorable chaos demon.
Chaos has been bored trapped in the void for centuries. All he wants to do is escape and play a little with some unsuspecting humans… but the human who has summoned him is sweet and adorable and Chaos is determined to keep him. But he’s gonna need some practice seducing humans first… so why not practice on the actual human he’s trying to seduce? Perfect!
Okay, so I always say it’s so hard in 3rd person POV to make your two characters ‘sound’ different, but holy heck Grae really achieved it. Chaos and Cooper have such clear POVs, you always know whose head you’re in. I just loved Chaos’s POV so much, the humour is outstanding - all he wants to do is cause a little chaos, is that too much to ask? And sweet sweet Cooper… as someone who also suffers with crippling anxiety I totally empathised with him the whole way. They’re just such a perfect pairing, ugh I love them (and this whole series) SO DAMN MUCH.
Read Calling Chaos for: ✨ Chaos Demon x Human Computer Genius ✨ Forced Proximity ✨ Practice kissing and sex 😏 ✨ Breeding kink ✨ Monster anatomy 🍆 ✨ Touch starved MC ✨ Chaos gremlin x anxious sweetheart ✨ 🔥🔥FIRE🔥🔥 ✨ Cameos from previous books
I really loved it. Chaos and Cooper is that kind of couple that is utterly mismatched on the surface but they have so much understanding and care so much that they not just work but make sense in a deeper level. I love it. I'm excited we have one more book in this series. Nightmare will be an interesting demon
Well Calling Chaos was absolutely lovely. I enjoyed Chaos and Cooper’s story from the first page to the last. From an interesting initial summoning to an unexpected final conflict I was hooked on them. I loved how Cooper grounded Chaos while still allowing him to be himself. And how Chaos provided Cooper the safety to break out of his shell more. Also their pet names for each other were the best.
Another thing I appreciated in this book was the family aspect. Both with Ivan, Sasha, and Cooper and with Nix, Kai, and Chaos. I love the reconnecting/bonding that’s happened with our human family. And how our demon family should probably be tired of each other after being together for centuries but you can really see the care they have for each other. I know it was a joke but I really hope that family dinner party actually happens once Matty and Nightmare get their happily ever after.
Speaking of, I am so excited for their book next! I have a feeling Matty and Nightmare will become my new favorites of the series.
4.5 stars
*I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.*
Chaos and cooper were easily one of my favorite couples! I just love demons like chaos! This was an audio read and I lost a bit of steam towards the end. Im looking forward to eyeball reading the Nightmare and Matteo’s book next!
Gahhh! I loved Cooper and Chaos so much!! I think they might be my favorite couple of the series, but I'm holding out final judgement until we get Nightmare's book. I have a feeling I am going to really like theirs as well. In fact, I've truly enjoyed all the couples in this demon series by Grae Bryan so far.
Chaos was a demon who 100% lives up to his namesake. Honestly, I adored him. He comes to Earth all prepared to have been summoned by some macho power hungry AH, and instead finds himself face to face with sweet and shy Cooper. Almost immediately Chaos knew this human was different than one's he met before, and it didn't take him long to also decide that Cooper was going to be his. He just had to convince Cooper of that fact.
It was sweet how Cooper slowly came more out of his shell with Chaos by his side. He's definitely still an introvert, but he doesn't feel so anxious when Chaos is the one pushing him out of his comfort zone. Chaos makes him feel special. He takes care of him in his own demonic way and Cooper does the same for him. Cooper never tries to force or control Chaos in any way. He gives Chaos the chance to be himself while also helping to guide him along the way. That doesn't mean that Chaos doesn't still get up to plenty of hilarious shenanigans.
It was interesting seeing things go down that we already knew about, but from a different perspective. There were also plenty of cameos from the past two couples in this series. We even get a small "conversation" with Nightmare!! I am so excited for his story next!
I'd been waiting fairly patiently for Chaos and Coopers' story, and I'm glad I did. Chaos was perfectly named and wasted no time claiming Cooper as his mate, using a bit of sneakiness to seal the deal. Cooper, with his impressive computer hacking abilities, didn't put up much of a fight. Grae Bryan's books always hit the mark, with engaging plots, great pacing, and spicy scenes. I'm now looking forward to the final book, even though it'll be sad to see the series come to an end.
There didn’t seem to be much plot here but I absolutely loved Chaos calling Cooper his puppy. The two worked perfectly together between the anxiousness of Cooper and silliness of Chaos. Can’t wait to read about Nightmare next.
Michael Ferraiuolo is a god. He made this so much more enjoyable than if I had read this on my kindle. His performance is always top tier and you can tell he really had fun with Chaos.
Otherwise, this book started out great but fizzled out a bit at the end for me. Still excited to read Nightmare's story next (once Michael has finished recording it that is).
I think I’m to the point where Grae Bryan is becoming like Lily Mayne or NR Walker for me. If any of them write a book I’ll read it!
I liked this story so much. I love quiet and introverted and lonely Cooper and how he accidentally summons his polar opposite: Chaos. What I liked most is how he knew the best way to deal with chaos is to let chaos just be. Trying to control it only makes more.
And Chaos? He sounds like the demon I’d love to meet. He finds Cooper’s way of just letting him be, with a few boundaries, so freeing he doesn’t mind being tethered to him.
So I can’t wait for the next book and I can’t wait to see where Grae Bryan takes us after this series.
Chaos is a little mischief gremlin and Cooper is an anxiety filled shut in, but somehow Grae makes this work perfectly. Cooper balances Chaos out amazingly and vice versa.
This one doesn’t get to the ‘problem’ until last minute but I wasn’t bored at all. Chaos doesn’t let you be bored lol. And being inside his mind is really interesting.
This could’ve been soooooo bad. Like, just SO bad.
It wasn’t, though. It wasn’t tired, overplayed, or chaotic in silly, unnecessary, awkward ways. No forcing anything or using notable cliches, no shock value or weirdness... just a chaos demon being chaotic and an anxious dude being anxious. Relatable as fuck.
Chaos was fantastically portrayed, and I loved how his chaos was subtle until it wasn’t. Cooper was the perfect representative for horrible anxiety on a daily coping level, and I love that he was like, “yeah, it blows and I fucking hate it, but I gotta get this shit handled so let’s fucking handle it so I can go tf home and rot”. That’s what reality is, and I was like, “same”. It was just fucking good.
4.5/5. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating that this series hits harder than the parent series. It’s like all the kinks (heh) in that one got worked out in this one and now it’s just smooth-as-fuck sailing off into each book/HEA. Give me Nightmare and Matty IMMEDIATELY. (all of the pls and ty i love you you’re perfect never change but I neeeeeed it so yeah🫶)
This was so funny and cute. Honestly I imagine Chaos was a very fun character to write. Cooper and Chaos are super sweet and cute together. The humor was so good, lots of good lines that had me laughing. It's either my current favorite of the demon bound series or the second (I'm torn).
It's a great time. Fast paced and engaging, made it a quick and easy read. I would recommend you read these in order for context, though.
Chaos taking care of his puppy was cute. Mostly a re-hash of Sergei playing traitor and Ivan sorting out the family. Knew Rabbit would be trouble from the get go. The pushiness was off putting and rabbit fox. Yeah that wasn't gonna go well. The kidnapping was meh, putting a more serious risk into an otherwise smooth sailing series. Chaos gave me Monkey vibes which was cool. Mostly sweet.

Chaos seemed too childlike for me to take him seriously as a romantic lead. I couldn't get into the book and finally gave up at about 70%. I'm assuming that was gonna be part of his character development, but I wasn't enjoying the ride.
I do enjoy Bryan's writing though and I love this series overall. I'm hoping the next one will be more my vibe and that I didn't miss anything too important by skipping the end of this one.
This was fun, in a somewhat repetitive, charming way. I particularly like how the author uses the vast amount of time these four demons were trapped together in their pocket world to ready them for their stories, but she never shies away from what they are, regardless. I'm looking forward to what she does with Nightmare.
I LOVED the first two books, but this is easily my favourite. There’s just something about how Chaos realised there was beauty in the quiet and gentleness of Coop - or puppy as he calls him, pretty much straight away and then Chaos’d his way into Coop accepting being his mate. I really really loved this couple and if the next couple is who I think it is… they could possibly usurp top spot from Chaos and Coop.
