Raw, honest, and unapologetically real, this is the unfiltered journey of a counsellor in training—messy emotions, self-doubt, and all. From battling imposter syndrome to navigating the rollercoaster of personal therapy, this book dives into the parts of the journey they don’t teach you in the classroom… but wish they had.
Through humour, heartbreak, and the occasional tantrum, the author lays bare the lived experience behind the the late-night doubts, the fear of getting it wrong, and the surprising power of finding the right therapist—someone who didn't just help, but saved a life and sanity.
For trainees, new therapists, or seasoned professionals who remember the struggle all too well, this book offers a refreshing, soul-baring account of what it really takes to become a therapist, a supervisor, and eventually, a trainer.
It’s not always pretty. It’s rarely tidy. But it’s always human.
Lily Rose enjoys world building and creating characters for these unusual worlds. It was a lot of fun creating misfit monsters, and is looking forward to writing more of their adventures.
A beautifully written book full of raw emotions and honesty. It made me laugh several times but it was heartwarming to read someone's true experience of becoming a counsellor.
