Sun peeking through leaves. A shared smile with a stranger. The sound of birdsong.

A glimmer often feels like a little moment of magic, but it’s actually a physical response that is rooted in your body’s nervous system, with the power to improve your mood, mental health and overall well-being. A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger - instead of putting your system on high alert, it reassures you that all is safe and well.
Glimmers are a beautiful invitation to the present moment, inviting us to be more aware of ourselves, our environment and the connections we share with those around us. They offer cues of safety and ease to the nervous system, which help us build resilience to better navigate life's ups and downs.
In Glimmers, sisters Nadia and Katia, authors of the international bestseller Self-Care for the Real World, bring together practices inspired by their training and experiences of nervous system healing. Their gentle guidance will help you tune into the glimmers that are all around you, every day.
I have been learning and teaching yoga for nearly 30 years. From Arsenal Football Club to pregnant women, performers on the road to CEOs on the ropes, absolute beginners to die-hard yogis, I adapt each practice to an individual's needs and ability.
I helped launch triyoga in 2000 and taught classes there until 2020 and in 2009 I created my Pregnancy Teacher Training Programme, one of the first of its kind. Teaching a kind as well as empowering way to help women in this stage of their lives.
In 2017 my sister and I published Self-care for the Real World. In 2018 we followed it with Rituals for Everyday. Both books remain international best sellers translated into multiple languages.
In 2022, I co-founded Love Supreme Projects in London with Manizeh Rimer. A beautiful space that blends roots, joy, and union into a vibrant community.
One of my long-term students calls me ‘That Nadia’, because it feels like everyone knows someone who I have taught.
In 2020, Life decided it had other plans for me and these days I divide my time between London and LA.
I combine all I have learnt in life to create a class with my signature ingredients.
I am very grateful to all my teachers and students, past and present, for all their guidance and inspiration. And of course life, that never fails to surprise me and teach me.
This book 'Glimmers' for me feels like a gentle therapy book, it reminds you to be more present in your lives, to look for the glimmers whilst it discusses your nervous system as it describes everything.
It's not a book I can just read from page to page, it's book that leaves me reflecting page to page. 📖
Not officially released until mid January it will become one of the most talked about books in 2026.

Meinung:
!!!! Achtung !!!
I picked this up as a Kindle Daily Deal. This book is about Glimmers, which are the opposite of Triggers. It suggests that we should try to notice as many glimmers in our days as possible; those moments which make us smile, laugh, feel loved, joyful, connected, experience a positive emotion or reaction.
There are explanations about how the nervous system works, and how glimmers can contribute to feeling calm, present and safe.
The sisters who wrote the book give a lot of examples from their lives, in particular a turbulent childhood, and there are spaces for you to write about your feelings (obviously not in the kindle version), so it's a bit like a workbook too.
I DNF'd the book, not because I disliked it in any way, but just because I felt I'd got enough out of it by about the 25% mark.
As I was reading it, I did start writing down 'glimmers' as I noticed them. I've never been any good at keeping up with a gratitude journal, which is a similar idea, and sure enough, I only kept this up for a few days. I don't disagree with the idea of trying to record the good stuff, but for me, I'd liken it to going to a concert and spending the whole time 'watching' via your phone as you take photos and videos. Having to remember to write things down seemed to take me out of the moment. So I will continue to try and be aware of the glimmers, but I'll just notice them quietly, in my head.
Beautiful and delightful book! I do a lot of driving and truly loved listening to this book and it was so wonderful, I ordered the hard copy. Lots of detail on what glimmers are andna myriad of suggestions for finding them in your life. The two authors take turns narrating and vulnerable share examples of glimmers, including glimmers from their own lives.
At times the authors include united lines such as "we ..." , I personally did not care as much for that aspect, as at times that seemed they were speaking more as one person.
Definitely consider listening to this because their voices are both very poetic and are their own glimmer.
This was quite useful to read alongside my DBT informed therapy and a helpful easy primer for those unfamiliar with the bio-social model. It was nice! I liked the prompts and did make some helpful notes from it. V v privileged worldview though so definitely not for everyone and that was the main thing putting me off - it assumed a kind of base level of wealth which sickens me
I came across this in audiobooks and there are some nice things in it so far for example, trying to appreciate all the little things and taking the time out of your phone to really connect with others.
There are SO many other books I want to get through so going to put this away for a bit.
A very light, easy read. No intense therapy/psychology, but good little reminders. Cosy. Bedtime type book. Maybe not for someone deep in spirituality, but a nice way of viewing the world anyways.
Interesting. I love Nadia and Katia. This is a rather uneven book. Great ideas and help to find glimmers , but I felt some therapy parts laboured and more interesting later chapters were rushed. Shame as its an intelligent book despite it looking woo.
