Natasha Roy, a Forensic data analyst with an audit firm, finds her perfect life crumbling to pieces when the love of her life, Neil, is brutally murdered right after an ugly separation. It is then that she discovers that Neil’s friend, Ranveer, an ex-army Intelligence Bureau officer who is embittered by a heinous act during a classified mission that left him physically unfit for a field job, is the investigator on the case, with a personal vendetta to incarcerate her. It is then that she decides to take matters in her own hand instead of watching her life fall apart like a mute spectator, by putting to use the particular set of skills that she had acquired while investigating the major financial institutions of the world. She launches a crusade that leads her to find out that the man she loved was not whom she thought he was and with every stone she turns, she finds a buried secret darker than the one before. Exploring their unconventional ways for finding answers, they cross paths and stumble upon the truth that neither of them could have ever imagined to be the reason behind the murder.
A book that can keep you glued to it till you finish reading it. A book that can keep you excited to know the truth, Offtrack is one such book by an engineer turned writer Vineeta Tyagi. The book has an amazing story line and the narration has been kept simple and catchy. The character Natasha Roy is of a courageous and intelligent woman and how she uses her logical and analytical skills to unravel the murder mystery. You easily get connected to this character. It is quite evident that every plot has been research well and intelligently designed. Even it is a great read to know how financial crimes are investigated. Some people may not find this part of investigation interesting but at the same time this part of investigation is inevitable. The intimacy scenes and the human emotions have been described beautifully by the writer and I am sure, you will enjoy reading it. I find the character of Neil very interesting. From the moment the character Neil is introduced, you will find a mystery surrounding him. The character of Rathore is equally intriguing. The plots are well knit and the story progresses with the right pace. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 and I’ll recommend everyone to read this book and motivate the budding writer.
It is difficult to put down this book. The story line moves quickly and there are quite a few twists and turns to keep you engrossed. I liked the way things get tied together and the various clues left in the middle of the story line get answered.
This is not a book for everyone, but if you enjoy reading a well-researched suspense novel as I do, you'll love this. Not just anyone can write a book that keeps a person up all night, unable to put it down. She is a writer on the level of Dan Brown, Patricia Cornwell, Dean Koontz, Kathy Reichs, and others. I'm looking forward to reading my next Vineeta Tyagi book.
A great read. Good narration , suspense and characters which we can relate to.I recommend this book to everyone. Hats off to Vineeta; her style is different ( and better) than most Indian writers. Wish her all the best for the future, which looks real promising.
Fantastic work .. Great storyline ... The twists keeps the reader engaged till the end .. Can make a great Bollywood movie :) Hats off to you Vineeta Tyagi !!
A real page-turner for quite many chapters. The narration style is great and made me go on and on.
Till the events hit a plateau. Some chapters are so much into the prime character's professional environment, I felt many would not relate directly to it. If one checks the start and the end of the story, there is no major surprise element that has not been seen for a long time in similar novels. Maybe I am being more detail junkie, but the author seems obsessed with clothes worn by the characters. Since it's a debut novel, I think some leeway should be allowed to the author.
Overall, I would recommend at least a one time read. Most of us associated with the corporate world would like the Novel.
This is a fantastic storyline! The part I liked the most is the minute details about various moods Natasha goes through, from being a 5-star performer > Boss > Colleagues > Dating > Romance > Breakup > Murder > Investigation; and then the evolvement of "Get your shit together" character who takes control of the situation and faces it bravely.
