OH I LOVE these books, I really do!
This is book 6, and it really REALLY helps to have read the others. There is some information that appears here from previous books that is not fully explained and assumes you have done.
Anyways, Maxim, quite literally, is knocked off his feet and straight into a mating surge at his very first meeting with Skylar. She floors him after tripping over into his path. Skylar is running, with an object she knows nothing about, except what her visions tell her. When that vision is at her feet, asking her not to leave him, what should she do? She follows her gut, her heart and her visions.
Skylar is awesome! She is psychic, and has had visions all her life. She is also reluctant to tell Maxim about them, since she suffered badly in the past when she told an ex. But he takes it all on the chin, and trumps her visions for his history. Skylar's reaction?? okay, and a million questions! Their ability to go from deadly serious to super sexy in the blink of an eye made for some laugh out loud moments!
The characters from previous books are mentioned or take part in this one. And I LOVE that! I could also see plans laid down for two, maybe 3 more books, and I can't wait to see if I'm right. But equally, I love being proved wrong!
Prater's ability to write such engaging stories with reference to and participation of previous books and characters in the series never ceases to amaze me. And the little dribs of Insedi history, both on earth and on thier home planet keeps me hungering for more!
So, please, Celeste, keep em coming, keep them coming!

PS, I wanted to make a point that you play pool with a cue, not a stick, but before I did, I checked with my American friends. AAAAAAND its a good job I did! Since in SOME places in the States they use a stick, and some, a cue, as we do here in the UK. So, I'm still telling you that I was gonna point it out, but glad I checked first!

I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.
This is the sixth book in the series and by now, Maxim has established himself as the joker of the pack. He really should know, though, that this mating business isn't all about fun and laughter although this does indeed play a big part in Celeste's books. This book actually goes a fair way before Maxim makes an entrance but it is necessary to learn about Skylar, who she is, how she thinks, but we don't learn all about her right then. We learn snippets along with Maxim as the story progresses. She's had it tough (understatement) but is still surviving. She is comfortable with who she is but is no wilting wallflower. She is feisty, with a wicked sense of humour and prepared to stand up for herself and those under her protection. Basically, a perfect match for Maxim!
This is a fast-paced book (or maybe it was the speed that I was reading as I simply could not put it down!) with an incredible storyline that involves spoilt, little rich men, psychic abilities, and even the gods. There is never a dull moment and with plenty of laughter along the way.
I love the relationship that Maxim has with his brothers and this is evident in the book. The relationship with Maxim and Skylar is both fast and slow. The attraction is instant (as Maxim finds out in the airport) but the rest of it, with love and trust being the biggies, takes time to develop. I loved the explanation given by Skylar about insta-love!
This book has it all for me - action, adventure, hot alpha male, smart and feisty female, sex that scorches the pages. The only trouble I have is leaving the Insedi behind. I feel the need to re-read every one of these books again and I don't say that about every book I read!

~~~~ Gifted by Author for a honest Review~~~
I’ve loved this series right from the start, the primal alphas and the sassy females. Celeste will always be a go to author of mine. So much fun and pleasure as she weaves the world of Insedivertus. I've had the pleasure in reading every single book in the series and Maxim does the writer talent justice.
A full novel that yeah could probably be read without the others, but you'd get a better understanding of whats going on if you read the series in order. It will be well worth your time.
I just loved Skylar.. no other lady I know of would just take all that she went through in stride and tenacious in her quest to help the spirit that keeps speaking to her.
A firm believer in fate.. . The spirit that guides Skylar guides her right to her protector... a gorgeous hunk of a man from her dreams. Little does Skylar realize she may have some special things going on, but so do this sweet and sexy beefcake.. hell he loves bacon, a done deal for me. (smiles)
A few dangerous situations finds the want to be Archaeologist and the protector/stripper, as they try to get the artifact back to its home as the spirit as requested.
There is not one negative I could say about Maxims story... passionate, sheet scorching sex, magic and the will of destiny will wrap you up in a story that will hold you to the end. Thank you Ms. Prater for a awesome ride. I recommend this … so enjoy it.

Skylar Grey is a psychic and assistant to archeologist Dr.Martin. While on site at a dig in Rome they find a huge emerald and a series of paintings. Unknown to them the paintings depict the Roman Emperor's first visit to the Insedi home planet. A spirit asks Skylar to "help them". Who "them" is she has no idea but she does what the spirit wants and takes the emerald and destroys the paintings. While she's doing this her and Dr. Martin's rooms are ransacked and Dr. Martin is killed. Skylar heads back to the USA asap. At the airport in L.A. she literally falls into the Insedi warrior Maxim's lap and he discovers she's his mate. He offers to drive her to Texas as that's the way he's heading and so off they go together and the adventure begins. Someone is trying to kill Skylar and get the emerald, but first they have to go through Maxim. There's lots of hot sex, action and a fast pace in this book. I absolutely love this series and can't wait for the next book. Definitely not a book for under 18.

I don't even know where to start on how much I'm loving this series. Maxim just made it that much better. I had another 'I didn't see it coming moment'. Blew me away. Fantastic heroine and who doesn't love Maxim? Bacon. Bacon. Gotta have my bacon. Truly wonderful love story and some HOT HOT HOT lovin'. Keep them coming!
