Jimmy James "M.F." Pudge was born into this world on 6-9-1979 in a truck stop toilet at a TA Travel Center in the backwoods of South Georgia. An honest and conscientious man, Jimmy served several prison sentences because he refused to give in to the federal laws that impose independent spirits' rights to be entrepreneurs. An expert in the art of pruno, shank construction, and paper dart blow guns, Jimmy briefly served as a leader in his dorm room before being released early for good behavior.

A small disturbing reference to the song by Prince and the pain that follows is a little more intense, especially for a man. This extreme novella lets the blood flow from open wounds, the screams echo and the doves cry when the sound of the gun goes off.

My personal favorite by this author. This book is at times extremely serious and dramatic. The style is completely original, and the author seems to rely on dialogue to push the tale forward. The closest writer I have seen to him is Elmore Leonard. Hard to describe and hard to write like this. Pudge is a literary writer hiding in pulp fiction land. If he ever writes anything serious, I’m sure it will be a classic.

If you've ever read a Jimmy Pudge book, you know his work is characterized by outlandish characters and generous helpings of violence- murderous ice cream vendors, psycho killers dressed as a teddy bear, werewolf FBI agents, and so on. With this latest release Jimmy Pudge has graduated to a new level.

What we have instead of over the top satire is a taut thriller that sustains a genuine feeling of horror from the first page to the last. I had to take a break after reading the first ten pages because it was so intense.

When Doves Cry deals with a truly frightening religious cult living in the backwoods. When a family happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, things go horribly, well... wrong.

As much as I've loved Pudge's previous work, this novella floored me. There's nothing extraneous in this work- every word, every scene moves the plot forward toward the explosive finale'.

There are still a few copies left. Do yourself a favor and look up Dynatox Ministries so you can grab a copy before they're all gone.

Not just another Jimmy Pudge book. What did that mean? For the reader it means an awful lot. Jimmy writes quirky, violent books that entertain. That'd what keeps his readers coming back. That's what keeps me coming back. Though there was something different in the pages of this one.

Charlie can be anyone of us, thrust into an untenable situation, motivated by fear, loss, and being pushed far beyond the breaking point. We are there, with him, in that cramped little cell. Waiting. Hoping. Praying.

This is Jimmy Pudge's darkest, most realistic book to date. If three was anyone out there who doubted that Jimmy Pudge was a writer to be noticed, a writer with an ever emerging talent, a writer who can create a living, breathing entity, then they need look no further than between the pages of When Doves Cry.
