Born with every power. But mercy might be his downfall.

Casimir was raised to end a war he didn’t start.

As the only Preter born with all eight rare abilities since Diego Scott—the legendary rebel who once tried to unite a fractured nation—he’s been trained since childhood to be a weapon, not a boy. His father, a battle-hardened hero, believes power means control. But Casimir believes real strength lies in restraint—and he’s about to find out how dangerous that belief can be.

On a covert mission, Casimir uncovers a brutal government conspiracy targeting Preterhumans. Alongside a mysterious girl who claims the enemy isn’t who he’s been trained to fight, Casimir’s world begins to unravel. Questions rise about his mission, his father’s loyalty, and Diego Scott’s death. What if everything he’s been fighting for... is a lie?

With a prophecy from the Oracles looming and the fate of the Exiled on his shoulders, Casimir must make an impossible

Is being a hero about saving the world... or deciding who gets to survive it?

I loved this book! I had the honor of reading an early draft and when reading that I knew this book was going to be amazing. I am so grateful I got to be one of the first to read the final version and oh my goodness you are in for one great ride! The pacing is fantastic, the writing of action scenes is so well executed. Seeing the relationship between the characters develop and go through trials and triumphs, you'll feel as though you're hearing a friend tell you their story. It is so well thought out and so well put together. If you like to read action, sci-fi, or just enjoy reading about human experiences, "Hero" is the perfect read for you. Thank you Cameron for letting me have the honor of reading this fantastic book and I am so excited to see what more is in store.

Hero: A Villain’s Origin is a powerhouse debut that redefines superhero fiction. Casimir’s journey is raw and morally complex, pulling readers into a world where every choice cuts deeper than any blade. Hudson masterfully blends high-stakes action, father-son conflict, and a chilling government conspiracy into a story that’s as emotional as it is cinematic. Perfect for fans of Red Rising and The Hunger Games, this book is a heart-pounding origin story that proves sometimes the line between hero and villain is razor thin.

‘Hero: A Villain’s Origin’ is a quick & engaging twist on the classic superhero tale. Rather than simply exploring the traditional tale of heroism, the book explores the darker side of power, showing how circumstances and choices can transform someone into something else completely.

The writing is fast-paced and cinematic, with a protagonist whose character development feels both unsettling and believable. It’s a refreshing take on the classic tropes for readers who enjoy morally grey characters and a story that challenges the line between good and evil.

A Villain’s Origin is a powerful and emotionally gripping debut that redefines what it means to be a hero. Casimir is a beautifully complex character—torn between strength and mercy in a world that punishes both—and his journey feels raw, real, and unforgettable. The story blends action, moral conflict, and deep emotional stakes in a way that keeps you fully invested from start to finish. Every twist challenges what you think you know about loyalty, power, and truth. This is the kind of story that stays with you long after the final page.

Very entertaining read. Was fast paced through and through and always had your mind hooked on what was happening. The protagonists relationship with his father was very well drawn out and complex. His relationship/dynamic with the other side characters were a lot of fun too. The protagonists own character and struggles was also very interesting to see development. This book makes you really think as to if who you’re rooting for is actually the hero or if the “villains” are actually that bad. It did get somewhat confusing for me at times but not too much to take me out of the story. The characters were a lot of fun and the action scenes were always engaging. Definitely a fun read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A gripping origin story that flips the “chosen one” trope on its head. Casimir’s struggle between mercy and power makes him unforgettable, and the mix of action, conspiracy, and heart kept me hooked to the end. Can’t wait for the next installment!
