Violet’s life is turned upside down when her boyfriend of four years blindsides her into an open relationship right before he leaves on a business trip.
Hurt and confused, she drowns her sorrows in wine and sad ballads.
When a revenge opportunity saunters in, wrapped in a delicious package of his brother, she knows it’s a terrible idea.
Not only is Archer six years younger, but the way he looks at her tells her that taking his deal will never be as simple as a revenge transaction.
She has no idea how right she is.
Will she open her heart to a future with Archer, or leave both brothers in the past?
The Revenge Deal is a short and steamy contemporary romance about taking chances. It is a fast-paced read with little plot and a lot of emotions, featuring a small-ish age gap, a pining man and mountains of pancakes.
Kay Red writes romance quickies with heat and heart. She lives with her husband wherever their passports can take them. When she’s not writing she can be found consuming books in any format known to woman.
If there's one thing you should know about me is that I love a little spicy novella. Add in a fun little revenge plotline where we get even with our boyfriend by getting with another member of his family... well then you have an absolute SMASH in my book 🤭
💗 (Almost) Ex-Boyfriends Brother 🏹 Spicy Deal 💗 She's 6 Years Older 🏹 Pining Boy 💗 Revenge on a Cheating Boyfriend
When Violet's boyfriend tells her he thinks they should open up their relationship so he can pursue other options, Violet is well... shocked. Their relationship has been lackluster to begin with, and with this new development she's hit reached the end of her rope. So when her boyfriend leaves for a business trip, and his younger brother shows up just in time to find Violet having a drink pity party in their shared kitchen wearing nothing but his towel... things take a delectable turn 😈
I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!! When I sat down to read this I thought, "oh I'll just read a chapter or two", and then I read the whole thing in one sitting 😅
It was sexy and so much fun. Archer was downright delectable and such a sweetheart. I loved how much he really said, "yeah f*ck that guy" about his actual flesh and blood brother 💀. The brother deserved far worse of a fate if you ask me, and I ate up the inevitable drama much like Archer ate up those pancakes (& other such things he drenched in syrup 🫠)
BUT I DIGRESS 🤭...
For a novella this had so many layers! Yes it's hot and spicy, but it has such emotional depth between the two MC's, and even more lovely character growth for Violet. Overall just a lovely novella that was ham packed from beginning to end. I'm absolutely going to go back and reread time and time again.
What a lovely debut from my dear friend, and I cannot wait to read more from her in hopefully the very near future 🫶🏼
(yes I'm already begging for the next book, I'm sorry but I need it NOW!)
Let me start by saying that typically I don't gravitate towards very spicy books. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but I do prefer more plot than spice and a very slow burn. HOWEVER, with The Revenge Deal, I found myself not only enjoying a spice driven novella, but actually caring SO MUCH for characters whose story is well...short. I adored Archer, his way of caring for Violet, his genuine desire for not only the physical aspects of their relationship but also a desire for her, the good the bad and the ugly. THE WAY THAT MAN HAD NO JUDGMENT against her, was willing to wait for her, and FIGHT for her? Yeah 10s across the board. Violet was someone I wanted to SHAKE and make her see how much she is worth, THANK GOD that even in though this is a novella, THERE IS GROWTH and we see her put her big girl pants in breaking up with that idiotic boyfriend of hers, and live her happily ever after with someone deserving of her. LOVED this novella, VERY well written. Engaging, fun, addictive AND EXTREMELY sexy. MY ONLY PROBLEM? WELL...I wanted it to be a whole book, so I will be here waiting to see what Kay has planned next.
Didn't plan on it, but I read this novella in just 1 sitting. Kay's debut took me on a short but enjoyable journey because of her captivating writing pace.
It was the journey of Violet ... one where I got annoyed and angry at Maddox 🤬, sighed with the way Archer treated her 😊 and felt giddy every time he called her Vi 🥰.
Oh yes, she managed all of that in just over 100 pages. Can't wait to read more of Kay Red's work.
Big thanks to Kay Red for a chance to read this eARC.
my friend wrote this short novel and I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy. It's sexy, it's funny, it made me angry but it also made me fall in love. How did she manage to do all that with less than 100 pages? only she did it! Don't sleep on this new indie author, I can't wait to see what more books she will bring us!

Wow. What started as a fiery revenge deal turned into an addictive, emotional rollercoaster that I couldn't put down. The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts. Every interaction crackled with tension. The banter, the stolen touches — all of it was so well written and sooo satisfying. But beyond the physical pull, there was emotional depth. The characters were layered, flawed, and relatable. Watching their relationship unfold was both thrilling and unexpectedly touching.
I absolutely loved both leads. The female protagonist had just the right mix of boldness and vulnerability, and the love interest (the ex’s brother!) was swoon-worthy in the best way — respectful, a little damaged, and unexpectedly perfect for her.
This book has everything: drama, spice, redemption, and a love story that felt earned. It’s fun, sexy, and surprisingly heartfelt. This is a perfect read if you like your romance smart, spicy, and emotionally satisfying, run to get this one.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that novellas aren't exactly my thing. But in my defense, I'm a slow-burn girlie, and novellas *must* be short. Writing one seems like a real challenge—you have to craft a full story, evoke emotions, show character development, and make readers feel immersed, all within a limited word count.
All that in a novella? It's hard to do. Not for Kay Red, though.
Holy shit, what a read. From the very first page, I was hooked. I barely knew anything about Violet and Archer, but I immediately wanted to know more. Kay Red has a way with words, and more importantly, she knows how to write a romcom. Normally, comedy in books doesn’t hit for me—it often feels forced and just off. But with this one? I found myself chuckling out loud every few pages.
Now, I’m all for age gaps, but I tend to gravitate toward ones where the MMC is older than the FMC. So when I saw the age dynamic here, I was a bit concerned I wouldn’t enjoy it as much. Boy, was I wrong. This? Hot. Not just hot, but well-written. I couldn’t put it down. It’s truly impressive how Kay Red manages to weave all the elements that make a story fantastic into just 104 pages.
I can’t wait to read more of her work (and she's my friend😌).
The Revenge Deal was such a spicy little read that I flew through in no time. Violet's been with her boyfriend for about 4 years now but right before he leaves on this specific business trip, he basically tells her wants them to have an open relationship. She feels blindsided and is pretty sure he just wants to have fun with some women while he's away. Then comes along Archer. Archer is her boyfriend's brother and the perfect revenge to get even with her boyfriend. I didn't expect to fall for Archer the way I did. That man is all the green flags!!! The chemistry between Archer and Violet is off the charts. It also left a very smug but satisfied feeling in my little ole heart, because this was the perfect revenge! If you're looking for a quick little spicy story, this is a great one to get into. You'll fly through it.
This is a spicy short story about a girl that gets told minutes before her boyfriend goes on a business trip that he wants to have an open relationship. You get to see her emotions come out because she doesn't know what could make her boyfriend want to take this path since they have been together for four years. Enter the HOT younger brother.. Archer. Archer shows back up to his apartment that he shares with Maddox (her boyfriend and older brother of Archer). Archer shocks her on how he feels about her situation and says hey, i think you should try it with me. The younger brother sounds like a fun time and someone any girl would want to be around. The ending was super cute and fun so you aren’t left hanging on their HEA. I just wish in the key moments you would have got more of Archer’s POV.
"This is becoming a pattern with Archer. Not much sense, and a whole lot of feelings. Feelings I don’t need."
The only thing I could possibly hold against this book is that I wanted more time with Archer and Violet. But I guess I will have to settle with knowing they are living their best life and have a lot of...fun. I honestly loved how much I could relate to Violet and her fears and the way she was treated in her relationship were scary real. I absolutely loved Archer and how precious and in love he was. What a lovely pining cinnamon roll. Take a chance if you need something short, spicy and sweet to brighten your day.
This was such a fun, easy read. I liked the short chapters, and the plot and characters were well developed. I didn’t have to overthink while reading which was so nice. Oh my gosh, I’m just loving Archer—so flippen adorable 😍 Even though he is 6 years younger than Violet (which normally isn’t my jam), Kay wrote his character in such a mature way I couldn’t help but fall in love with him. If you want to get out of a reading slump and just end up with good vibes in your heart, grab this novel as soon as you can. 😁
Getting told, that she's in an "open relationship" now was not on Violet's list for today. Neither was getting caught drunk and dressed only in a towel by her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend's hot, younger brother. But things are about to get better....a lot better....
This novella is SO FUN!! And hot. Dear lord, Violet and Archer have amazing chemistry. Throw in a sassy best friend, a boy obsessed, a secret tattoo and sizzling spice and buckle up to have a FANTASTIC time!! Yes, please more right this minute, Kay 😉😘
My only complaint is that I was too short. I wanted Archer’s point of view a lot more maybe even a flashback. I was so engrossed I finish this book within an hour. I love how I didn’t focus on Maddox too much. It was a brief introduction to give backstory. I also loved that Archer knew what to do get with somehow still vulnerable and a tad bit insecure because he didn’t wanna scare her away.
Tropes: - revenge age gap - forbidden romance - brother’s steals GF
I loved The Revenge Deal. It was short and sweet and exactly what I read romance for. Archer, the MMC, is a delicious green flag. I mean absolute perfection! Violet is complex and relatable. And the icing on the cake? The bad guy gets his comeuppance. All the emotions are there, enhanced, not watered down, by the tropes. It’s a beautiful little fantasy wrapped in everyday reality with buttery prose and breezy pacing. Highly, highly recommend!
I loved this novella! I can relate to it lol. Violet is a great person. Maddox has no idea what he did when he decided on an open relationship. oh course Archer was there to pick things up. he a great guy. complete opposite of his idiot brother lol. I loved his steamy and funny this story was. and I've been in her position! my boyfriend broke up with me, and years later I married his brother 🤣 so this just got so close to home. I loved every minute of it
this was a quick and fun read ... Violet had been in a relationship with Maddox in 4 years just before he had to leave in a work travel, he demand that they "start" an Open relationship that left her devastated but Enter Archer he is the young brother of Maddox who had this crush on her for years, she had this crazy idea of Revenge deal but that transform in a relationship that she deserved because Maddox was awful human being and treat her SO Bad. SO i love the end.

Maddox, her soon to be ex-boyfriend ask her for an open relationship before he leaves on a business business trip. The younger brother Archer who has been obsessed with her for four years, takes his chance to be with her.
Loved Archer!!!!!
Soon to be ex-boyfriend’s younger brother Reverse age gap (6 years) Obsessed MMC No OWD OMD No virgins/cheating/sharing Use of Condoms Mostly Single POV except for the last chapter (first person, Violet’s) HEA A little over 100 pages

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this novella. Violet and Archer won me over right from the start: there’s chemistry, tension, tenderness, and plenty of spice. Archer is everything you’d expect from a true green flag, and Violet felt very real and vulnerable and I also loved that she showed growth throughout the story.
My only complaint? That no one punched Maddox, because he definitely had it coming 😂.
In just about 100 pages, Kay Red manages to deliver an addictive story with characters full of spark. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a quick, sexy, and at the same time sweet read.
New author for me and I'm not usually a tender, fluffy romance reader I fell in love with the writing style and the characters of this sweet novella. Both characters are well written, have depth for a novella. Archer will become your new bookboyfriend, he is sweet, hot, vulnerable I love this in male characters. Thankfully Vi started standing up for herself.
Great and fun read!! At 104 pages this is easy to read in one sitting. Archer and Violet have great chemistry. She’s finally getting the man she deserves and he’s getting the woman he’s Ioved for 4 years! Definitely recommend!!
I received this as an advanced read and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
DNF. The characters just weren’t what I was looking for. The brother too much of a visible simp in the very beginning, I prefer the simping towards the end. There was an odd obsession over nipples in the first few chapters: blanket rough against them, chilly nipples, nipples peaked through a towel… need I go on?
What a delicious, steamy, tender novella! Archer is book boyfriend material through and trough and Violet is so... real and messy and relatable. Absolutely a must read. A few hours of perfect, heart melting joy.
I’m definitely not a fan of Maddox, what a egotistical jerk! Violet totally wasted her time with him.🙄Thank God for his little brother Archer❤️what a sweet, romantic guy who has adored her for years. Great romantic story with sweet ending.
If you are looking for a quick read The Revenge Deal is definitely the way to go! I loved the concept!! Thank you to Author Kay Red for the arc of this book!!
This was a great novella with plenty of spice that kept me intrigued the entire book. Archer has such a kind heart, I think he might be my favorite book boyfriend! Definitely recommend.
I didn’t realize this was basically an erotic romance.
The main woman’s boyfriend asks for an open relationship and his younger brother jumps on his chance once he finds out. The younger brother has been obsessed with the main woman forever and now is the moment.
That was all fine and dandy but we missed the whole him falling in love bit. And then they just banged the whole time and she was in love. I mean this was just fine but not what I was looking for.
If you just want a bang-fest of a book then go for it. But I was just left a little bored.
