Simon deftly and lucidly provides an overview of the various answers people have come up with in answer to this profound question. He also reflects on whether the question has an answer at all and why it is important. Simon has a talent for explaining difficult concepts and ideas in a digestible way.

I would probably recommend Holt’s Why Does The World Exist? as a more appropriate introduction to the question for the general reader, but Why Does Anything Exist? is perfect for both students and the interested layperson who has already read Holt.
