What's worse than a bully? A bully who's the hottest jock in school!Wade Johnson thinks that he can get away with anything, just because he's the quarterback of our football team. He caught me staring at him during gym class Freshman year, and branded me a "queer". He and his teammates have been making my life hell ever since.
But golden boy Wade just slipped up, and now he's about to lose it his spot on the team, his hot cheerleader girlfriend, his college scholarship. And he's begging for my help.
So what am I going to do with an arrogant jock who needs to be taught a lesson?
This story about a geeky guy who has been horribly bullied by his high school's star quarterback for years manages to turn the table on him. After filming the guy JOing for him in return for writing a term paper that the quarterback needs to pass a class, Kevin realizes he can get his own back by blackmailing Wade into doing more submissive sexual acts. This short story is scorching hot and I am sure the JO fantasy of a lot of harassed gay guys in high schools throughout the years. Excellent!
I'm not a vindictive person in real life, so I don't know why I love revenge stories, but I DO. And this short story delivers up a satisfying dose of vengeance, excellently written -- and free, to boot. So you'd think the prospect of eight more stories in the series would have me standing in line trying to get someone to please take my money.
You'd be thinking right, except... The remaining stories are 14 to 41 pages in length, and they each cost $2.50 - $2.99. So, adding up the numbers, what we have here is the equivalent of a 250 page ebook priced at $22.
There is no way in bloody hell I'm paying $22 for an ebook. If my favorite author came back from the dead and wrote a 250 page book priced at $22, I wouldn't buy it -- I'd just sit back and wait for the price to drop. So, despite being impressed by Josh Hunter's writing, and as much as I'd love to read the rest of the series, it is simply not going to happen at this price point.
Be careful when you're a dumb jock who promises anything to the smart, fed up (bullied) kid at school. Because, yes baby, payback can be one hell of a bitch.
It's very hard to rate The Favor all on its own because of its length. But what I can say is this, it is well written, well edited - indie authors, please look at how writers like Josh Hunter and Candi Kay edit their stories - and the concept, while not exactly new, is snarky, cheeky and fun. It had me laughing out loud in more than a few places. It's sexually charged but I wanted a bit more - size does matter sometimes. I liked this a lot and I'll probably rate and review collectively when I read more of/finish this serial.
DNF @32% Sorry but I am not really into blackmailing. What Kevin is doing is all types of wrong. In fact, it is full blown sexual harrassment especially when he is using his current position of power over Wade to get him to do these things. His actions are Harvey Weinsteinesque. I get Wades a bully but two wrongs definitely do not make a right. Yes, I get it, it's a book. However, it makes me personally uncomfortable, so, it's definitely a book I will not be finishing.
Many high school geeks would get off on dominating their tormentors - that's a classic tale. Here it is realized as Wade (the jock) becomes a submissive slut for Kevin (the gay geek). Shenanigans ensue and Wade does things he really doesn't (or does he?) want to do. Above average treating of this plot - with some good characterizations but, most importantly, some tantalizing teasing and sex.
I’m definitely curious about the next few instalments even though the plot was a little sparse. It’s not often that the Goodreads algorithm recommends books I actually read cover-to-cover so I feel like I need to give it a proper go. You know, for good luck or whatever.
Expect - Bully x victim - (Threat of) revenge porn
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW FOR PARTS #1 to #5 also get 5 STARS and the Author did them too. I have no idea what drew me to read this book. I hate most high school YA angst ridden books, especially when it’s the jocks bashing the gay kid! It’s like insert scenario's #9, #22 & #14. I actually hate short stories too! BUT NOOOO I SO WAS WRONG TO PREJUDGE THIS SERIES This is part one of eight instalments to date. It gets published like a fan fic, YET IT IS NOT ONE AT ALL! Part #1 was published on January 22nd 2015 and part #8 on January 17th 2017, two years later. Most instalments are between 50-100 pages, a couple reach close to 150 pages though. HOWEVER, this story is actually very smart and rather well written. It has an extremely dark and very, very, nasty plot. Which is executed brilliantly, so I suggest if you’re going to read them, do not give up after 2 or 3 instalments, you have to keep reading on if you want to see the full and extremely disturbing plot unfurl. I sure as hell didn’t see it coming and I have to admit, if it gets worse I might have to stop.
So I haven't read this (yet?) but I just had to comment on the fact that almost all of the female reviewers are harshly receiving this story and almost all of the male reviewers are rating it five stars. Anything that controversial and literally divisive has got to have something!
Great short story for free, and I'd love to see what happens next with Wade's humbling, but I just can't see paying that much money for a bunch of super shorts. Guess I'll have to live with only my imagination of revenge.
It hooks you on the first page. The nerdy loner gets bullied by the Texas football jocks and finally gets some payback. Makes you wonder just how far he’s going to take it with his blackmail/ revenge. Don’t read if you don’t like this genre .. but if you do, plan on buying the whole dang series cuz you’ll fly through the first three books and have to read more!! First book from this author I’ve read, but he’s got talent for telling a story.
A gay high schooler gets even with a jock for teasing and gay bashing him with his buddies. Gets even and videotapes it for all to see should he release it.
wow a bully is humiliated because of the victims strengths a person can only be called names so far before they take action, to find out what actions were taken and it is a page turner just read...
This was pretty awful. Forcing someone to do sexual favors as blackmail isn’t right even if it’s someone who has bullied you. I thought the story would be more consensual but it just felt creepy and the author narrating it himself sounded unprofessional and like it was taped on a recorder by a high schooler.
Ooh, that was fun. It’s nice to see the nerd have the upper hand over the jock for once. Don’t read this looking for romance, but as far as erotica goes, it was a great start.
Most of us can think about someone who’s made our lives a living hell at some point or another — a bully in school, a particularly unforgiving manager at work, or just someone who lords over you in some way that you can’t get them back for. Hunter plays with the idea of just what happens when a boy who gets bullied at school takes things into his own hands and decides to fight back, and the result is a short — but extremely sexy — story. Though the storyline is a case of ‘what you see is what you get,’ I found myself surprised a few times by a few small twists and the author’s sense of humor.
Let’s just say that if you’re into the idea of a somewhat light revenge story along with a bit of a mindfuck and blackmail (if you can call any story with blackmail somewhat light, at least), this is a great story for you.
I read this because it was free, but won't read the rest of the series. It's a shame because it's well written and I'd love to know what happens next. But at $2.99 for 14 pages for part 2 and this series has several parts in it, I won't read them. If it was on KU, I would, because I did enjoy the the story. But there's no way I'll pay $2.99 or $2.51 for 14-16 pages for each of the parts in this series.
Geek blackmails homophobic jock into sex. Better written and hotter than most of that genre. Not well written enough that I bothered with the million sequels.
This has the distinctive dude porn quality of rape leading straight to feelings without dwelling on what any of it means or any real psychological effects on anyone. If you like trashy gay erotica, give it a shot. If you like a slash fanfic vibe, don't bother.
This is one of those stories that is very hot to read as long as it's only fiction. Kevin is actually someone who should probably be arrested in real life, but this definitely made for good fantasy.
Yay for Kindle freebies! This was great for the price. I did love the Revenge of the Nerds aspect of it. Short story, seems to be a 10-part series? I think what made it the most fun was how much Wade liked it all.
A good story that unfortunately got me hooked right away. However, by the time I finished all the short stories I ended up paying Amazon 38.00 for twelve shorts. It would be nice to read it in one book. Josh Hunter is a great author though :^)
