The system needs your data...
Finding out the day she's going to die doesn’t sound like much of a birthday present to Rae. But it’s been that way for everyone since the cryptograph - a complex biological algorithm - was introduced.
Now, the government can determine with precise accuracy the expiry date of every human being on the planet. Society is sorted according to longevity - like Transients who have less than ten years left to live and are thus considered useless to society, Interims who are grudgingly tolerated, or Constants who are automatically considered elite.

Everyone is tested at sixteen, but Rae decides to opt out while she still can. Death is inevitable and despite what the system thinks, when or how shouldn’t matter.
But when Rae’s intentions to avoid the test are impeded and she is determined Transient, life as she knows it will never be the same again ...

This book came up on my Amazon account, suggested due to my enjoyment of the Hunger Games and Divergent series. I'm a big fan of dystopian series and find myself very invested in the character, as we get to know them more book after book. This book was no different. I found the concept very interesting; who would want to know when their exact date of death is? How would it change society? Why would everyone just believe in the accuracy of the test? How would it change how you lived your life? The series is geared for young adults - I am not really in this category - and I imagine some of the concepts may be profound for older teens and younger adults. It's interesting how much your priorities could change when you find out you don't have many years to live. I would definitely recommend this book; it's a quick read and holds your attention the whole way through.

Interesting concept but it needed a better editor. It was riddled with punctuation errors, typos, and occasionally whole sections of text that repeated within a page or two.

I’ll keep reading because the concept hooked me. My expectations for the next one are pretty low though.

This was a very enjoyable, if somewhat predictable at times, easy and quick read.

I loved the main characters - Rae and Apollo, along with the other characters in their online group. The world setting was an interesting one, and the OBK group are certainly up to something underhand, which I hope is revealed in future installments of the series. I am a big lover of dystopian YA fiction, and this definitely fit in well in this category, with a interesting and unique storyline.

A few notes to mention though - this book could definitely do with being re - editted. There were numerous spelling and grammatical errors, and often words were missing from sentences, or were being repeated. Despite this I still found it an enjoyable read, and need to know what happens next!

This book has a very interesting concept which pulled me in. It started off great and had me intrigued however, it did seem to escalate fairly quickly. I know it is set up to be like a television series but, I would not be opposed to a little more build up and character development as the story progresses. At times the writing becomes a little repetitive which distracts from the story a bit but, overall, a fun read and I plan on continuing with the next volume in the series.

Fun & different

I love science fiction. I thought it was time for something different. Then I read the intro to this story & was intrigued. It didn't disappoint. It was different alright. Enjoyable & left me wanting to hurry & start book 2. Also liked the short chapters.

Really interesting premise- mandatory test to know your date of death, and how you will die. The ads say for fans of Hunger Games and Divergent and it is on level with that, not as violent though ( so far). This is book 1 of a 3 book series. It's intriguing.

Transient a great read

I Recommend this book to all who love mystery, secrets, rebels and veracity. Anyone who enjoyed reading about tris and four In the divergent trilogy, or katniss and peeta in the hunger games will enjoy this read.

Pleasantly surprised. Got this book cheap on a Kindle deal and I am always quite dubious about cheap Kindle books. For a first book it was enjoyable and dragged you into the story. However, I find it very frustrating when authors don't get their work properly proof read. There were at least two paragraphs that were copy and pasted word for word and a few continuity errors. The characters could have been developed a bit more but on the whole I enjoyed it and look forward to the next installment.
