I was just trying to capture the perfect shot when I discovered something impossible—a real, living minotaur. Now Evander and his brothers want to make me their next perfect naked, collared, and completely theirs.

My camera documented hidden America, but I never expected to become part of its biggest secret. The moment the three bulls touch me, my body starts producing rich, buttery milk that drives them wild with hunger.

They offer me everything I never knew I worship instead of judgment, purpose instead of wandering, and a collar that marks me as their treasured cow.

The only question is whether I'm brave enough to put down the camera and step into the frame.

This taboo RH Monster Romance includes instalove, instant lactation, collar play, MFMM, breeding obsession, extreme size difference, plus size heroine, and three minotaurs who turn a career woman into their willing, perfect cow.

I'm not mad at it

Series: Part of the Cream series (yep, it’s a thing)
💞 Tropes: Insta-love, monster romance, Minotaur brothers, lactation kink, “why choose”
🌶️ Spice Scale: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Monster heat with a dairy twist)
😂 Vibe: Unhinged, hilarious, and gloriously self-aware
⚠️ CWs: Lactation, monster anatomy, explicit scenes, fast-paced consent

✨ Review:

So here’s how it started: I saw someone review this on Instagram and thought, “What’s a HU-COW romance?” I didn’t know. I was curious. I read Buttercream. And now I know. I really know. And I’m still laughing.

This book is a fever dream of a short story. A photographer stumbles into a magical meadow, meets a Minotaur, starts lactating (surprise!), and falls into a whirlwind of insta-love with him and his two equally horned-up brothers. It’s fast, it’s filthy, and it’s so ridiculous that I couldn’t stop giggling even during the spicy bits.
- The humor is intentional and unrelenting. It knows exactly what it is and leans in hard.
- The Minotaur brothers are oddly charming, each with their own flavor of “please let me worship you.”
- The pacing is pure chaos, but in a way that feels like a rollercoaster you didn’t know you needed.

Buttercream is the kind of book you read when you want to laugh, blush, and text your friends “WHAT DID I JUST READ.” It’s not deep. It’s not subtle. But it is a ridiculously fun time. Perfect for when your brain needs a break and your inner chaos goblin wants a snack.

3.5⭐️

I saw a reel about this book and you know I had to try it. It was my treat for finishing packing. Like most I had the question of wtf is Hucow… but I get it now.

Don’t expect any more from the book aside from exactly what it’s promised. Don’t expect developed characters or even the use of different back story… well much of any more backstory than you can get with a 40 page erotica. Also don’t expect there to be the use of synonyms or any other firms of variation (butter, cow, golden…). Expect… you know what just read it

Uhm… Minotaur cult anyone?

I don’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t this lol! Very raunchy, the word ‘creamy’ gets used too much for my liking… and the ending gave me the ickk…

Also, paragraphs get repeated often, found some repeated on the same page, one right after the other. And a lot of over used words and phrases.

But it was a cute, quick 40 page read!

You do you, Milky-Boo!

"Most people run by now," he says, his voice a deep rumble that I feel in my bones.
I lower my camera, though my hands are shaking. "Most people don't get shots like this."
His laugh is rich and warm, not at all what I expected from a creature that could probably snap me in half without effort. "Brave little photographer."

I really enjoyed this book. I liked that Zara was a photographer, and minotaurs were creatures of myth and legends to her. So she was shocked to see a real life minotaur with her own eyes, and was torn between running for her life and getting the perfect shot when Evander ran towards her. I would love (in most cases) to spot a real cryptid or mythological creature with my own eyes! And try to get it on camera, too, of course. Good chemistry between the two of them, as well with Andros and Dorion. I also liked the scene of her going to her new home in the barn and meeting her new sisters Sarah and Emma. A fun quick read. 4 stars

Buttercream by X Callisto is not here to give you plot—it’s here to give you spice. And if that’s what you’re looking for, it delivers. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars.

This is a why-choose romance, and if you’re into minotaurs, this might just be your jam. There’s no intricate story arc, no deep character development—just vibes, fantasy creatures, and a whole lot of explicit content.

What to expect:
• Minimal to no plot
• A fast-paced, spicy read
• Heavy lactation kink (yep, a lot of it)
• Minotaurs

Final take:
Not for everyone, but if you’re just looking to break up your day with something quick, wild, and NSFW, it serves its purpose. Not a life-changing read, but it knows what it is—and leans all the way in.

if you’re into it

Zara Williams is on a mission to take photos showcasing a hidden America. However, once she stumbles upon Evander, the Minotaur, everything changes.

I would call this speculative smut. Very much weird pheromone stuff going on. Also I’m of the impression that Zara is not black, but I still ended up finishing the story.

It’s passable if you’re into monster smut with no real romance.

If you like Minotaurs, breeding farms, and speculative smut, then this is for you.

Continuing on with the series which is a short, spicy novella featuring a reverse harem of minotaur brothers Evander, Dorion and Andros and their hucows. This is book 3 and Zara is photographing rural America stumbling onto the valley where their farm is located and feeling like meeting Evander is fulfilling a purpose she didn’t know she had. Please read the triggers as this isn’t everyone’s cup of “milk” but I really enjoyed the short and spicy smut!

Interesting

I read all three books, and it is interesting how the author keeps changing the job descriptions to fit the narrative at the end. In the first book, the woman was a librarian. The second book was an accountant. Then, the author changed the job descriptions to travel blogger and freelance journalists. The books are so short I don't understand why the author didn't check it or fix the first two books.

Just ok.

This is the story that led me here but I went back and started at book 1 with Sarah. This was definitely better, Zara asked questions of the ladies at least but i feel like she was misled. they made it seem like she was the only but she was 3rd in line... Also what were these guys doing all this time beforehand. And why aren't they out here pumping and storing some milk for later use. I guess on to book 4 to find out ....

I am all for any kinks, monster or mythological creature pleasure. I’m glad it was a short read because my god was this tough to get through. Descriptions were painfully repetitive. The worst offense was the strange collared harem that’s thrown in the last 3 pages. The wording made it feel like a misogynists wet dream. Boo. There’s ways to introduce a harem or sister-wife experience without taking the individuality away from the FMC.

"Evander and his brothers want to make me their next perfect picture: naked, collared, and completely theirs."

I enjoyed EVERY second of this smutty little trilogy.

Very low on plot, very high on Minotaur spice.

This series is definitely going into the re-read on a lonely rainy day pile.

The cover doesn't match character description

I was soooo excited to read this even I saw the cover and that the FMC was a Black Woman. Representation matters.

Then I read the words "pale skin" and I felt swindled a little bit.

The story was good and was everything you expected it to be.

This was an arc in August. I had posted the review on my reviewer account that i have since deleted so i thought i would repost now. Loved this book. It was a great read fast paced and well written. It had me questioning few things about myself. I read all of the three books of this series in the same day and it was an interesting experience.

Zara is distracted on her travels when she sees something from the past. Read how the past takes care of the future.

I reached for this one because it was a short 40 page read and I kept seeing it in different groups.

A photographer stumbles into a beautiful valley to take photos and happens upon some male centaurs. It's then that they realize she has a "gift." 🍼💦

I thought this book was okay! My only drawback was that it felt somewhat anti- feminist. Why can't you be a hucow AND a photographer? Why do ladies have to choose?

weird but fun

I have never read anything like this. It was recommended in a book group, and wow. It’s so strange. But a satisfying ending I guess. It’s exactly what you think it is.

exactly as I picture it (pun intended)

Another lady, another milky cow, a buttery one.

This one I noticed a bit of repetition in how cherished and treasure the FMC felt. Other than that, is 3 Minotaurs that are very hungry indeed

Minimal

Going into the third short, I expected a similar if not better experience. Got less. Less spice, less action. There was a repeated sentence in chapter 3.

This book is exactly what you would expect it to be. It is getting very repetitive the further you read in the series. But if you want a quick down and dirty read, it’ll do.

Another delightful addition to the minotaur farm series!
I really feel that the longer the series goes on the better these novella's become. There is already a good foundation about the farm, the spice, and the way the girls find their way to the farm.
Though I do wish we learned more about the brothers themselves and given more of the "why" besides what the brothers are telling our FMC. I really loved seeing how our current FMC interacted with not only the brothers but the other FMC's! I think it truly ties in all the novellas up together in a neat little HEA.
