They were childhood soulmates torn apart by silence. Now, he’s back—and this time, he’s not leaving without her.

Janelle Moreau has it all—wealth, beauty, a flawless image… and an engagement built on convenience, not love. But behind the polished facade lies a woman haunted by the past—by the boy who knew her better than anyone… and disappeared without a word.

Zaire Carter was her first everything. Her protector. Her safe space. The man who walked away when she needed him most. But now he’s back in her city, in her life, and under her skin—stirring up memories, unfinished emotions, and desires she’s tried to forget.

He’s not the same boy she once loved. He’s harder now. Sharper. Still quiet—but every stare, every touch, every tension-filled moment dares her to remember what it felt like to be his.

But buried between their history is a web of secrets, betrayal, and a truth that could shatter everything.

The love between them never died. It was just waiting to be reignited.

If you crave slow-burn tension, forbidden emotions, second-chance obsession, and a man who will fight the world for the woman he loves—Rooted in You will bury itself in your heart and never let go.

She was always his Nelly. He’s still her Zai. And this time… he’s not letting go.

Rooted in You is a contemporary romance novel that masterfully explores themes of love, loss, and second chances. The story follows Janelle Moreau, a successful real estate CEO engaged to workaholic Elias Moreno, as she reconnects with her childhood best friend, Zaire Carter, after six years of estrangement.

The novel shines in its portrayal of raw emotions, especially Janelle’s grief over her miscarriage and her torn feelings between Elias and Zaire. Its exploration of self-worth and choosing happiness over societal expectations is poignant and well-executed, making Janelle’s journey from denial to empowerment deeply relatable.

Jada Miller’s prose is engaging, brimming with vivid descriptions that bring scenes to life. However, the pacing stumbles slightly in the middle chapters, where repetitive internal monologues about Janelle’s doubts could be tightened to maintain momentum.

Despite this, the blend of nostalgia, steam, and emotional depth makes Rooted in You a compelling read. The standout line—“I’ll always find my way back to you, Nelly. It doesn’t matter how much time passes or how far we drift. Some souls are just meant to return to each other.”—perfectly captures the heart of the story.

Told through shifting first-person perspectives, the narrative flows with a natural rhythm. Some emotions rise, others fade, but it’s Janelle’s voice—raw and unwavering—that lingers long after the last page.

This is a brilliant work, one that carries a deeply human touch as it navigates the tension between comfort and passion. While many equate romance with love, Rooted in You reveals the harder, truer choices beneath. Every flicker of feeling Jada scatters across the page proves that confession isn’t just found in shared wounds or fleeting moments—it’s rooted in the unshakable connections that define us.

A lush, emotional second chance romance about two childhood friends whose connection outlasts time, trauma, and distance. When Janelle’s picture perfect engagement collides with Zaire’s unexpected return, every buried feeling resurfaces.
The chemistry is electric, the tension slow-burn and believable, and the flashbacks add real heart. It’s steamy, stylish, and cinematic, think Tia Williams meets Kennedy Ryan. A few pacing dips in the middle, but the payoff is worth it.
