I devoured Ruin like my life depended on it. I thought Matti had stolen my heart, but Tommy outdid him in every way. The way Gia Detroit writes Tommy is mesmerizing, dangerous, magnetic and impossible to look away from. He’s a hard shell to crack, but at his core burns one undeniable truth: his love for Giovanna. That love is what makes this story so palpable, so addictive. Tommy is the kind of fierce protector you crave, the kind who makes you his and never lets go.

And Giovanna? She’s smart, sharp, and stunning, but also deeply human. She stumbles, she questions, she fights with her heart as much as her head. Yet no matter the distance or doubt, the pull between her and Tommy is undeniable. Their love feels written in blood and fate.

Ruin is filled with suspense, drama, and grit. It’s like stepping directly into the underworld, navigating crime, power, and social standing right alongside the characters. The way Gia Detroit weaves in Easter eggs and lore from the previous Demonio Brotherhood Duet makes it feel even more immersive for returning readers.

Gia’s writing is, as always, razor sharp, beautifully paced, and vividly descriptive. And the spice? Next level. As a seasoned spicy reader, I was blushing, kicking my feet, and fanning myself more times than I can count. Each scene was somehow hotter than the last.

This book consumed me. I cannot wait for Rise, the second half of this duet. If Ruin was this good, I can only imagine what Gia Detroit has in store for us next.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Ruin by Gia Detroit, and I honestly devoured this in one sitting. From the very first page, I was completely pulled in. The MC is everything I love in a protagonist—flawed, fierce, and emotionally layered. I connected with them so deeply that I felt every high and low right alongside them.

What I loved most:

• The MC’s arc. They’re not perfect, and they carry scars—real emotional weight—and yet they grow. You feel their internal battles, their doubts, their hopes.
• The pacing. One moment I was gasping; the next I was turning pages so fast I forgot how late it was. The beats of tension, revelation, and emotion hit in all the right places.
• The chemistry. The relationship (romantic or otherwise) is layered. It isn’t just attraction—it’s connection, conflict, shared pain and shared triumph. When they finally open up or act, it means something.
• The worldbuilding & backdrop. The stakes feel high, the setting believable, and the supporting characters powerful without stealing the spotlight. There’s enough detail to make the world immersive without bogging you down.
• That addictive “devoured it in one sitting” vibe. You mention you devoured it—and I totally see why. The drive to keep reading, to see what happens next, is strong. I found myself wanting more even after it ended.

If I were to nit‑pick (because even the best books have a little room for improvement):
• There were moments where I wanted a little more backstory for minor characters—just tiny glimpses to enrich them further.
• One or two twists were slightly predictable (for me) but honestly they were executed so well that I didn’t mind.
• The emotional payoff was big (and satisfying) though I might have wished for a few more pages just to breathe after the climax.

Overall? A stellar read. If I were rating it, I’d definitely give it 4.5 to 5 stars. In short: If you loved the MC, you’re in good company. If this was a binge‑read for you, you’re absolutely right to feel that way. Gia Detroit delivered something that left me wanting more from her—and more of that world.

I am so lucky to have read this as an ARC
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Where do I even begin?!?! Basics are OTT possessive MMC, feisty FMC, both super smart, and the chemistry is so spicy.

I don't think I've read a dark Mafia romance book like this, the plot and relationship flow together so well. Tommy and Gi get together and fall hard pretty early on and reading about how they are trying to make it while so many outside forces and trying to make sure they stay apart, I was hooked from the beginning.

I want to say more but don't want to give too much away. This is a definite must read. I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens!

what do you do when you don’t see a way out?!

Holy hell, my heart is pounding!!! The intensity, the love and desire. There is no match made like Tommy and Giovanna. I won’t lie and say I hated Tommy in the beginning of this book, feeling for poor Giovanna. I’ve come around. It’s a difficult love to understand and unless you know someone with similar quirks, you may never. This one’s heavy on the heart for many different reasons and such a beautiful cliff hanger!! So excited to see how things blow up and come together next 😍

Gia Detroit has done it again!!! I am so in love with Tommy. I knew his story was going to be good from Matti's book. He is like the walking red flag of walking red flags, and I am here for it. The way he loves and obsesses over Giovanna is chefs kiss. He has issues with being neurodivergent. He tends to zone out and loses time. Giovanna is the only woman who calms him and helps him when he losses time and doesn't know how to handle social situations. They go through so much in this book. They have known each other for a long time. He is on a mission to be everything he thinks Gi needs in her life. He does not realize he is already everything she wants and needs. She just wants to love and be with him. He is dead set on having the job, the money, and all the things she deserves before he lets her in. Both of their familes are trying to keep them apart as well as other people. They do a lot of things to each other that tear them apart for many years. They know that they love each other and that they cannot live without each other. They both are self distructive but also distructive of each other. They have a hard time communicating and it leads to a lot of unnecessary drama but hey that is what makes the book even more interesting. They have no issues in the spice department. Don't even get me started on how hot/crazy the ballroom scene was. IYKYK. They truely deserve each other. I cannot wait to see the end of this epic love story. If this book is any indicator of what we still have to look forward to, its going to be explosive and one heck of a rollercoaster ride. This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. So get ready to laugh, cry, cheer, and even want to throw your book. It is so worth the read.

Ruin by Gia Detroit is not here to play nice it’s dark, obsessive, brutal, and oddly hilarious in the most unexpected places.

Tommy is one of the most fascinating MMCs I’ve read in a while. Neurodivergent, brilliant, and disturbingly methodical, his point of view is equal parts unsettling and magnetic. Watching him circle Giovanna protective one moment, terrifyingly possessive the next had me flipping pages like I was watching a live crime scene but couldn’t look away. Giovanna, on the other hand, is messy, stubborn, reckless, and gloriously human. Together? Fireworks. The dangerous, probably-illegal kind.

The humor saves this book from sinking into darkness Giovanna’s sarcasm and Lexi’s chaos had me snorting out loud. (Special shoutout to the infamous “hoodie scene.” I’m still laughing, and also kind of terrified.)

That said, the pacing stumbles now and then. Some scenes linger too long on detail (yes Tommy, we get that you know the exact fabric weight of Giovanna’s dress), while a few high-stakes emotional moments rush by when I wanted more. Occasionally, the dialogue slips into casual modern slang that clashes with the otherwise gothic-mafia tone.

But overall? Ruin is bold, twisted, and unapologetic. It balances violence, obsession, and dark kinks with flashes of humor that keep it from being unbearable. Not for the faint of heart, but if you like your romance bloody, feral, and unforgettable, this is one to add to your TBR.

Gia Detroit: you’ve officially ruined hoodies for me forever.

🖤🖤BOOK REVIEW🖤🖤

Ruin is the third book in the Demonio Brotherhood Series by Gia Detroit.

There is nothing like a good spicy, dark mafia romance and that is what Ruin is. This book is exciting to read and it contains passion, family and mafia drama, secrets, and plenty of blocked pathways for the main characters Tommy and Giovanna.

Tommy (MMC) is possessive, diabolical, and has been wanting Giovanna for a long time. He knows once he crosses certain boundaries with her there is no turning back. Giovanna (MFC) is a beautiful woman who has passion, fights for what she wants, smart and independent. They are fated to be together and once that happens it is no turning back. The chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥and Gia writing just makes their relationship come alive on the pages.

Tommy and Giovanna story covers many years and has its ups and downs. They are tested with each other and the life of being in the mafia. This storyline demonstrates how to move through the crime that comes with the underworld. The supporting characters come from Curse and Shield, the first two books of the Demonio Brotherhood Series. This book does end with a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the ending of Tommy and Giovanna.

Wow ... wow, this book had me in all kinds of shambles. I had my heart in my throat the whole time.

I don't think I've read a book like this in a while where the FMC and MMC love each other from the get go but could never be together because lives are threatened and obstacles keep getting in the way.

Tommy and Gia have loved each other all their lives and Tommy has been waiting for Gia to turn 18 to claim her, but he keeps telling himself that once he claims her, there will be no going back. Once he gets a taste of his sweet girl, he won't be able to stay away and doesn't want to.

Their love is tested in each step of the way. The whole back and forth, all the years they had to endure so much heartache had my heart hurting.

I honestly didn't think I would care for Gia, she would get on my nerves at the beginning but once the love between her and Tommy started to flourish, she grew on me. They both were pains in the butt because they kept hurting each other (unintentionally) but nonetheless, it kept happening. The parents on both sides were pieces of garbage, ruthless, mean with no conscious.

I'm pumped now because that cliffy has me on edge now. I need the next book like yesterday!

First book I read from this author, and certainly not the last!

Tommy really is “chaos in a suit” and I developed a really soft spot for him. He tries to navigate the world he inhabits, frequently resorting to violence, knowing nothing else. Only Giovanni can quiet his demons but his sole focus is on protecting her. He is obsessive and possessive, having always loved her, even though he may not recognise those feelings. Obstacles are constantly thrown into their way, preventing their relationship developing. Some are of their own making, others caused by those around them. However, that doesn’t prevent them being drawn to each other or the combustible and fiery spicy scenes that follow.
As for Antonio… he just made me so angry! He would insist on appearing and re-appearing at regular intervals making me feel as frustrated as Tommy by his never ending presence!
There are several time shifts throughout the book, something that I’m not particularly fond of but that’s just my preference. By the end of the book, the reader is brought to the present day where secrets, manipulation, misunderstandings, duty and heartbreak are ever present. My mind is now running in all sorts of directions, trying to guess what happened in the final chapter. Now impatiently waiting to read “Rise” to find the answers.

Thank you for the early copy.

RUIN by Gia Detroit

If you're looking for a dark romance that delivers on every promise of intensity, tension, and brooding heroes, stop scrolling. Ruin is the third book in the Demonio Brotherhood series, and it absolutely dragged me into the shadows!
This book brings the heat with irresistible anti-hero. From the moment the two main characters met, the stakes were high, and the chemistry was scorching. It's the perfect mix of mafia action, emotional conflict, and sizzling romance.
What I loved:
• 😈 The Hero: He’s possessive, morally grey, and totally broken—the perfect combination for a dark mafia rea
• 🔥 The Chemistry: The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife. The spice? Top tier.
• 💁🏻‍♀️ a strong FMC, who was trying to hold onto Love while all the men in her life are manipulating her to do something she doesn’t want to do.
• 🔪 The Plot: Beyond the romance, the world-building for the Demonio Brotherhood and the underlying suspense kept me glued to the page.
If you like your heroes dangerous and your romance dark, you need to pick this one up immediately. Prepare to be ruined! 😉

"The pull toward her is like gravity: fundamental, inescapable, a law of physics."

Giovanna has always been the forbidden fruit that Tommy couldn't have but protected. Tommy was the ruthless "bad-boy" that couldn't be more than a friend. Until one New Year's Eve, everything changes. When they find their way to each other romantically, no one is happy about it. Not her father, not his father. The question is, will they survive it or will the stresses of the outside world drag them down? Years of yearning for each other is both a good and bad thing. And when the truth comes out, Tommy's need to protect Giovanna may be their downfall.

Tommy Demonio is exactly what I am looking for when it comes to Mafia man. I knew he was going to be my favorite when he was introduced in Curse and Shield. Giovanna has a special spot in my heart. All she wanted was a life with Tommy and felt like the odds were against them. The pull between these two was so obvious, it was practically visible. And the SPICE?! PERFECTION! I am so desperate for Rise because this cliffhanger has my brain doing flips and turns trying to figure things out!

Ruin By Gia Detroit ARC Review

Firstly, I would like to say that cliffhanger left me on the edge waiting for the Vin’s book and now I’m seated and I’m ready for the next book as soon as possible please.

Tommy, I thought was a possessive male main character and I loved the support he gave Giovanna I felt the feelings and the comfort he gave to her and I saw the connection between them that was beautiful and gripping. Also I loved each and everyone of these characters and I can wait for more. I rated this story 5 stars.

Giovanna, was perfection and I loved the confidence she had and that she gained while being with Tommy. Their relationship was very strong and interesting it left me wanting more of them but I was glad because I was very excited to read this book and enjoy what it’s all about and I do. I felt like they both deserved each other and they were both were special and spectacular.

Obsessed but oblivious MMC? ✓
Strong FMC with Sass? ✓
Spice that just keeps on spicin? ✓✓
Your new obsession is spelled Tommy and his possessiveness is top level. He's so smart but so clueless at the same time. I just wanted to reach into the book and shake him.
Gia....sweet, sassy, frustrating Gia. She is so head over heels in love with Tommy. She was doing a decent amount of communication till the end. I was yelling at her to "just tell him" I know. I know. It's for the plot but oh. My. Gosh. I just wanted to shake them, and then being left on a cliffhanger. *Deep sigh* I hate waiting but for Tommy.... I'll do it.
The book was at a faster pace, so if your looking for something slow this is not for you. This book moves and it moves fast! But if you like spice and main characters obsessed with each other this book is for you.

I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Ruin, and I devoured it in one sitting! Tommy is absolutely perfection – the ultimate OTT hero who stole my heart with his charm and intensity. He's the kind of book boyfriend I'd love to get lost in forever.

Gia, on the other hand, was a bit more complicated for me. While I understood her struggles and motivations, there were times when I wished she'd been a bit sassier and stood up for herself more, especially when dealing with her dad and Antonio. A bit more backbone would've made her a more relatable and empowering character for me.

Despite this, I couldn't get enough of this book! The storyline had me hooked, and I loved watching the characters navigate their complex relationships. Overall, I'd give Ruin a solid 10/10. If you're a fan of OTT romance, you'll likely love this one!

I'm definitely intrigued and can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

Sadly, I can't see myself rating it any higher than 3⭐️, though. Overall, it was a good story. Great mix of plot and spice. Plenty of drama and some action.. Always wondering what's going to happen next.

Reasons I didn't like it ...
A lot of the sentences seemed long. I feel like some of them could have been broke up into smaller sentences for easier reading. I also didn't like how time kept jumping. It started 10 years ago and eventually made it to present day. I feel like there's so much we missed in that time not talked/wrote about... Like how Tommy ended up changing that much.. Where he was in all that missing time, etc.

Even with that, though, it was still worth the read. I'd still recommend it to someone who's interested in Mafia Romance. :)

O.M.G !!!! l loved this book so much. the mmc was Tommy. god loved him so much. He was an amazing character. Yes, he did make some mistakes, but never once did l doubt his love for Giovanna. He had such a beautiful soul.
The fmc was Giovanna, l understood her thoughts, and her worries about her and Tommy, but she loved her Tommy. These two together were pure fire, but outside forces were determined to keep them separated. My heart broke for the two of them, where they separated. l loved the way the book spans over a few years. I really disliked her father and his father. I'm trying not to give away any spoilers.
What on earth was that cliffhanger, l need the next book now lol

I love Tommy and Giovanna! The push and pull in the beginning, the longing for each other, and the passion. Giovanna’s parents hate Tommy and they push her towards Antonio. Giovanna helps Tommy learn how to charm, be confident, and play in the big league with the politicians. Tommy gets tunnel vision on his vision on his mission to everything possible for Gi and his job.

This book is fantastic! I couldn’t put it down once I started it! I love the characters, the spice, and the story. I want Tommy and Giovanna to get their happy ending!

The ending!!! I knew it would be good but WOW didn’t expect that!! Can’t wait to see how this ends.

I think recently all of my book reviews have started like this but seriously... HOLY CLIFFHANGER. I cannot wait for the second book.

I dont typically like time jumps, but it worked soo well in this book. It took a little bit to read, but I was entertained the whole time! I loved the obsession, the "mine" aspect. *chefs kiss*

I loved seeing inside the characters heads and seeing their perspective. I haven't been through a situation like this but it made me relate to their happiness, their wants and understand why they're doing certain things. absolutely loved!

We're back in the Demonio Brotherhood world this time with Tommy and Giovanna. Their journey is beautifully heartbreaking. These two have been in love forever and because if outside forces they've never been able to be together. They do all the back and forth and endure so much pain and heartache it's devastating to witness. Then add crap parents on top of that and these two seem doomed before they ever get started. This book had me feeling all sorts of ways for this couple and those rotten parents. Ruin ends on a cliffhanger and Tommy and Giovanna's story concludes in Rise. I can't wait!

Ruin by Gia Detroit is like falling into a velvet-lined trap—dangerous, decadent, and impossible to escape 💔🔥. Tommy Demonio is chaos in a suit, and Giovanna? She’s the kind of heroine who doesn’t just survive the storm—she seduces it. Their chemistry crackles like a lit fuse in a dark room, and every page feels like a whispered secret you’re not supposed to hear.

If you love mafia romance with sharp edges, stolen moments, and a love that feels like rebellion, this one’s a delicious descent. Just be warned: it ends in a cliffhanger, and you’ll be begging for Rise the second you finish.

Very interesting read and FYI, ends on a cliff hanger. Interesting in that they love each other but they each, in their own way, throw up hurdles to the relationship. Initially, she just wants a hookup because she feels that he can't really love her. He won't start a relationship with her until he meets all these milestones that are on his list. So, as the story moves along, we have misunderstandings, angst, danger, parental interference, and eventual HEA?!?!? We shall see once we get the rest of the story.

I wasn't sure I'd finish Ruin at first. It took me a minute to get into it and for it to not feel like the author was trying too hard for the dark romance genre. She wasn't, she knows what she's doing.

I am so glad I kept reading! Ruin had me up all night needing to know. A must finish read. These characters have it all. Tension. Spice. Love. Conflict. And that cliffhanger! I knew it was coming and I was NOT ready for that one.

I did not read the first duet, Curse and Shield before reading Ruin but those are now on my TBR while waiting for Rise to be released.

Giovanna and Tommy have such an enthralling love story. Giovanna is Tommy’s quiet in the storm, his anchor amongst evil. Tommy is her lighthouse and her compass to guide her home. Throughout the book, they had so many struggles thrown their way, but love conquers all. Tommy is Giovanna’s end-all-be-all, while Antonio is a snake in the grass who tries to weasel his way in at every opportunity. All of these characters were written so well, and I could feel every single emotion throughout this book. This definitely was a 5/5 star read!

I loved the start of this book. I almost DNF’d around the halfway point, but I’m so glad I didn’t because that last 25% absolutely wrecked me emotionally. And don’t even get me started on that cliffhanger of an ending—I’m still not okay.

Tommy and Giovanna are the perfect example of right person, maybe wrong timing, or too young for these intense feelings.

Tommy was so focused on building an empire that he forgot what really mattered. Gi never cared about the empire—she just wanted him.

It’s giving Hamilton and Eliza energy in the most heartbreaking way possible.
