A Christmas Bloom is a heartwarming small-town romance with a dash of mystery, filled with holiday spirit, lifelong friendships, and the sweet surprise of love rediscovered. It is the first book in the Hope Hill Romances series.
Julie lives in a town named "Hope Hill" and has a florist shop. So many lavenders in this town, which she used in her floral arrangements. There is a wedding event to take place, where florist show their art in arrangements for brides to be. Lo and behold her longtime boyfriend from high school is the contractor for the event.
Charles is surprised to see she still lives in "Hope Hill". And this brings many memories back to them both. Although Julie is not wanting to restart the relationship. But then her floral arrangements start disappearing from the event location. Now who would steal flowers? A mystery to be solved in this story. So now Charles steps in and offers his help in finding out who the culprit is.
So this is a romance/mystery that will keep you wondering, who takes flowers. In the end all ends well. There is a surprise at a family gathering that makes for a happy ending.
This book was okay. Definitely a quick read, and cute for the holiday season. It is the first book in the series, and I wouldn't be opposed to reading more of it. I kept mixing up the main characters (Julie and her best friend, and now I can't even remember her name lmfao)! I was looking for a cozy mystery, and that's what it was. There was no death or murder in this, which is what is typically in those types of books. This one has to do with a new person that comes to the town and a bunch of stuff goes missing. Plus, Julie's high school boyfriend comes back into the picture (and they are 50+ years old now) and you are left wondering if they are going to rekindle their romance? The book seems kind of rushed at the end, but it is a cute ending. I didn't understand all of the cousin/sister dynamics; I get very confused by too many characters.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I think it deserves 4 and a half stars, but I gave it 5 rather than 4. Most of the characters are easy to figure out, but I was disappointed when the story didn't pick up on that. I kept wondering what gives? Nevertheless, the story was enjoyable even though some things happened that were not at all enjoyable.
Although the romance is difficult to see materializing, in the end it does. Thank goodness since the couple has waited a lifetime for fulfillment.
A wonderful read a!l will enjoy. I really enjoyed this book and all the caricature that all have corks that are really funny. I recommend this book to all for a real feel good read.
