When everything that can go wrong over the holidays goes wrong.

Austin

Christmas is my favorite time of year. It’s the only time I get to see my family after I moved away for college. I'm looking forward to being home for the holidays, especially since my sister is bringing her new fiancé with her. But when I meet him, it’s the last person I’d expect.

Jeremy

Meeting my fianceé’s family was supposed to be the big scary step, but it’s even worse because it’s over the holidays. I didn’t realize she had a twin brother or that he was the guy I dated my freshman year of college. When things go south between me and Leah, I’m not only trapped at their family home for Christmas, but I’m forced to share a room with my ex.

I think I owe Austin an explanation.

I had mixed feelings about this book. The beginning felt rushed to me, we didn’t get a deeper look into their hookup situation to understand why Austin felt a connection towards Jeremy and why him getting ghosted impacted him as much as it did. Since Austin was so hurt by this it seemed odd how he was so level headed when he saw him again years later as Jeremy was introduced as his sister’s fiancé. They went straight back to hooking up after Jeremy and Leah broke up and all Jeremy had said was that he was sorry with no further explanation.

I was on Leah’s side when she lost her shit with Jeremy and they broke up. He had wasted 3 years of her life knowing it wasn’t going to go anywhere. She was quick to forgive him and support his relationship with her brother. I don’t think I could have done that personally.

I will say that the pet name ‘little boy’ gave me the ick and it was ironic since Jeremy was bigger than Austin. I did like their feminisation kink and how Austin always made Jeremy feel comfortable inside and outside of the bedroom. Austin was protective and loved deeply. You could tell the people in his life meant a lot to him. I wish this story was longer so we could have seen more of Jeremy’s growth with self acceptance.

This was a sweet and cute holiday read. Despite the length we got a very sweet story with some history between the main characters and it didn't feel rushed at all. Austin and Jeremy have a bit of history and it was interesting to see them navigate that. I really enjoyed the fact that they communicated openly this time around.
This story also had all of the Christmas vibes and goodness that I enjoy, and it was fun seeing the protagonists enjoy a white Christmas.
If you're looking for a low-angst, sweet and swooy holiday romance with second chances and a great amount of steam, then pick this one up.

I received an ARC of this book from Nisha's Books and Coffee, and this is my honest review.

**EDIT**

After sitting on this for some time, I have to lower to a 3.5, while everything I said previously still stands, the whole Little Boy nickname and comments, really irked me. I'm sorry but how did the whole little boy thing come up when Jeremy likes to wear lingerie... how does lace and frill = little boy immediately after. I don't know, that just rubbed me the wrong way that it is still running through my mind a day later when updating this.

What a fun read. Thankfully the majority of the drama happened in the start of the book so it was a nice change.

We saw how Austin and Jeremey started, ended and how they came to be again.

Austin was such a joy and my heart broke for Jeremy and his inner thoughts and family background. I was rooting for them the entire time. I was so happy when they finally got over their past and came back together.

Forced to Share is the story of Austin and Jeremy. Austin is going home for the holidays and looking forward to meeting sister's fiancé. When he does the guy turns out to be Jeremy, somebody he dated who ghosted him. This was just the perfect amount of everything I wanted. I loved the characters so much. Austin's family are such amazing people. I loved the story and hated seeing it end. I would definitely recommend this book.

At just around 170 pages, this book is such a quick and cozy read — absolutely perfect for the holiday season! It’s got just the right mix of drama and plenty of spice to keep things interesting. I really liked the main characters, but ugh, Leah… she really got on my nerves. Even though she redeemed herself a bit toward the end, I just couldn’t warm up to her again.

Overall though, this was such a fun and steamy Christmas read — definitely one I’d recommend if you’re in the mood for something short, festive, and spicy!

Wow, this was so wonderful. So sweet and swoony and emotional. I really loved this.

A bit of angst and tension in the beginning too.

This starts with Austin and his hookup Jeremy parting ways one morning only for Austin to be ghosted until 3 years later when he runs into Jeremy again at his families house for the holidays

Only now Jeremy is his sister's fiancé!

As scandalous as this could have been it was really sweet, tender and vulnerable

I really enjoyed this. Their dynamic was fantastic.

We can tell Jeremy is carrying hurt. He seems skittish and does not feel accepted.

Things dissolve very quickly with Jeremy and Austin's sister. Austin, the sweet and kind man he is, still holds a flame for Jeremy.

These two were so lovely. I just wanted to hug Jeremy.

Austin was so attentive to Jeremy. He was able to see what he needed without Jeremy even needing to ask.

“Austin Bennett was about to unwrap me. And I wanted him to. I wanted him to in all the ways possible.”

They are perfect for each other.

Austin's family was fantastic too. In the end, they were so supportive. Eventually Leah came around too and was wonderful.

This was short and sweet and so lovely. A beautiful holiday romance.

“Austin and me. We’d have each other forever.”

I truly so glad Austin and Jeremy got their hea after years apart.

A young man makes a mistake and regrets it for years. Then he makes another mistake and that, as messy as it is, may just help put things right. This is a sweet but painful tale of regret, lost love and moving on. Well written but a wee bit drawn out at times in the early part, but not too frustrating. It shows that love can be found under any circumstances and that the love between twins can withstand anything. A wonderful read.

I truly enjoyed this from beginning to end. At first I was mad at how Jeremy did things but once he told his story it all made sense, poor guy. I’m so glad he and Austin found their way back to each other. I hope we see these guys again because I’d love to see them in the future, Leah too. 🖤🔥❄️🔥🖤

My favorite quotes from Jeremy:

• There was a reason that I still left, that I’d met Leah and had my connection with her. That I’d waited until now to run into Austin again. The universe wanted us together, and we were tossed headfirst into the stratosphere.

• Never in a million years did I think I would get someone who would fulfill my fantasies without me having to ask for it, but that’s how I knew that Austin Bennett was my perfect match. He could read me like an open book. Every little pleasure point was at his disposal. He’d never forgotten where they were.

Holiday Cheer Meter: 3/5
(Where 1 is as Christmassy as 'Die Hard' and 5 is more like 'Elf')

1st person, past tense, dual PoV
Austin Bennett (24-ish), software designer for a spyware company
Jeremy Praytor (24), something in social work since that was the program he was enrolled in at NYU?

This one wasn't really for me. The synopsis sounded delightful, but the set-up required far more suspension of disbelief than I was capable of giving and the story dragged both in pacing and mood, fraught with an uncomfortable tension that I needed frequent breaks from.

I'm a hard sell on second chance anyway but especially when one of the MCs was clearly The Problem, rather than it being a wrong time/place issue that caused the initial separation, and nothing has really occurred to overcome the initial issue(s). So, the fact that is difficult to come back from. At the end of the day I'm a grudge holder and don't understand characters who forgive incredible hurt so easily. I need me some good grovelling.

I had a difficult time understanding Austin's devastation over losing touch with Jeremy as the initial chapter describing their meeting made it seem like they were little more than hook-ups - even their current relationship doesn't feel grounded in much beyond the physical so a little more groundwork in this area would have been helpful for the reader.

The secrecy surrounding Leah and Jeremy's relationship was also difficult for me to comprehend, especially considering the weak explanation surrounding everything. Not knowing she's a twin is wild! Never mind not sharing pics of your boyfriend with your family (that you are not estranged from), even if video chat/calling isn't your jam. I just couldn't get on board with the set up.

All that aside, Jeremy has a lot going on (some of which factors into his relationship problems with Leah, and how she was done dirty is a whole other ball of wax). He needs therapy, not to jump into a new relationship. I'm not a fan of trauma as a plot device without follow through and the idea that all you need is love to heal hurts of the past is not a narrative that should be perpetuated. As someone who pursued a social work degree I expected a little more work to be done to overcome the harm his parents had done.

There was a lot I really liked but it was definitely overshadowed by the stuff I didn't. Others without my feelings about second chance, etc. will definitely enjoy this book a lot more. There were lots of lovely moments, some festive feelings, and a truly heart-warming relationship that develops between Jeremy and Mrs. Bennett (Austin and Leah's mother). By the end of the story things are feeling a lot more hopeful.

One of the micro tropes that really appealed to me was the side rep and I thought it was fairly well done. Thankfully being in love with the right person didn't "fix" that, so I was incredibly happy with the bedroom activities. I thought their chemistry was great and was happy to see they were so compatible there. Seeing Jeremy experience his secret wants and desires with a trusted partner was such a gift.

I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

Forced to share is a super sweet Christmas read after three years of ghosting Jeremy returns to Austin but this time as his twin sisters fiance it’s Christmas and the snow is falling quickly so when things go south, they once again need to share a bed

From my perspective I would say it was a bit too fast paced for me. I mean I get that Jeremy had his reasons and I think Austin forgave him way too quickly without even knowing the full story. I also would’ve loved to see Jeremy grovel a bit. to earn Austin‘s trust back.

Jeremy and Austin had great chemistry but I have to admit something and I know this review has been a bit to the negative side but I promise it’s worth reading if you are into the low angst stuff but I really want to talk about the nickname and if you read the book, you know what I’m talking about it made me uncomfortable and I cringed multiple times something about it just doesn’t feel right (the nickname was little boy)

I am usually down bad with Joelle’s works but like all books it can be a hit and miss and for me unfortunately it was a miss
I still like the story and the writing was amazing as always, but I can’t say that is something I would read again

I read this book a 3 out of 5 stars forced to share is a second chance holiday romance it’s on the shorter side and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get into the holiday moods
but remember to form your own opinions and not just listen to me
Until next time, my loves…

Not quite what I expected from the blurb but... wow. Sweet, emotional and the kind of book that made it difficult to put my e-reader down.

We begin with Austin and Jeremy hooking up and there's something odd about the way Jeremy says he'll contact Austin in a week. Then when Austin tries to call Jeremy his phone is no longer in service. Ghosted.

So Austin kind of gets over it, time marches on at least, and he goes home to his family for Christmas. He's also looking forward to seeing his twin sister who he hasn't seen for a while, since she went to college in New York. He's also looking forward to meeting her fiance... who turns out to be Jeremy.

Jeremy had his reasons for disappearing. Let's just say he was escaping from his homophobic family and went to New York where he met Leah, Austin's sister. Who he proposed to, because that's what you do when you've been seeing a girl for a couple of years, right? Maybe not the best move in this case.

Things get more, and less, complicated through the book, the engagement ends, Jeremy and Austin reconcile in secret - because they could hardly be open about it, when the reason they're sharing a room is that Leah won't let Jeremy stay in hers - quite understandably, given they are not engaged by that point.

A really lovely story, and while the situations are odd and sometimes it's a bit of a harder tug on the suspension of disbelief than others, it still works. Oh, and the spicy scenes are very much so - I'll admit I have a thing for Jeremy's preferences, though.

I received an advance copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Wow! I'm not sure what I expected, but this was so good! This was my first book from this author and I absolutely loved it.

There’s nothing better than getting a second chance at a love. Something Austin and Jeremy didn't think they would get. Especially with each other.

I love these characters and the way they were written. Everything is just cohesive and it all just flows together. Austin and Jeremy just couldn't help the pull they had to each other, even after being apart for almost 4 years. I love the representation of Jeremy being a side, but I'm not going to lie, I would love a novella or something in the future where he might actually try something more. I love it when a MC, like Austin, is chill around people, but once the bedroom door is locked, he turns into a dirty mouthed man. I definitely hope to see more from these 2 because I would love for Jeremy to be more open and to finally accept all the things about himself.

I will also say, that I hope Leah gets her HEA in the future because I did feel bad for her! But I was so glad that there wasn't any true animosity between everyone.

If you enjoy a low/medium angst story, with any of the tropes listed above, this one is for you!

5/5

I have loved every single one of this author’s books and this one definitely didn’t disappoint me at all. I love me a good book that is short and sweet with all the emotional feels.

I am a sucker when a little drama happens in the first chapter because you can’t help but what’s going to happen. I wasn’t expecting all of what happened in the beginning and then you get the shocking news.

I loved Austin and Jeremy so much. I loved learning how different their lives were and man, I felt for Jeremy so much. And man, I loved the dirty talk and the lingerie scenes. I was here for all of it.

The parents just wanted the best for their kids and when they find out who Jeremy was to Austin, they were not happy with him especially after he was staying with them for the holidays after the engagement to their daughter had been broken. When Jeremy told everyone what his life with his parents were like, I just wanted to hug him so much.

I was so touched when the parents pulled Jeremy in with open arms after everything that had happened.

And the ending. I loved the moment at the airport when Jeremy ran into his arms. Best moment ever! I really want it more of this book but the way that it ended was so perfect for these two.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Austin is excited to spend Christmas with his family, especially with his sister’s new fiancé joining them. But the holiday cheer takes a sharp turn when he discovers the fiancé is Jeremy—his ex from college and the last person he expected to see again. Jeremy, unaware that his fiancée has a twin brother, is blindsided when he realizes Austin is the man he once dated. As tensions rise and his relationship with Leah unravels, Jeremy finds himself stuck in the family home, sharing a room with Austin and facing unresolved emotions. What was supposed to be a joyful reunion becomes a tangled mess of past love, family drama, and the possibility that some connections aren’t so easily left behind.

I enjoyed this story with the exploration of how family gatherings can highlight both who we are and who we’ve become exploring the tension between familial roles (brother, etc) and personal identity, especially when those roles collide. Some of the story was farcical especially the sister's reaction. However, the situation did enable the themes of forced proximity, shared room, and family tension create a pressure-cooker environment. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Overcoming mistakes and finding family

This story is a beautiful mess. Austin dated Jeremy briefly before he was ghosted by him. This really had an impact on him.

Fast forward and he's getting ready to head home for Christmas when his twin sister lets it slip she's engaged. Imagine getting ready to meet your twins fiance and who is staring back at you is the man who ghosted you.

Now don't get weird cause Jeremy and the sister did not do anything in the bedroom. They were more like best friends who happened to be engaged.

Watching the way everything changed was actually quite beautiful. The twins family was so welcoming when Jeremy's family wouldn't be. The family moments were so beautiful. I wasn't ready for their story to end. I want more.

"Honey, I don't know a lot about God, but what I do know is that his lessons say that you're supposed to live everyone. You will always find love in this house, maybe it was and maybe it wasn't some sort of divine intervention that you ended up meeting both of our children. I don't know. But I'm glad that this was where you landed." -The twins Mother

A SWEET SECOND CHANCE REDEMPTION!💕⛄️🎄

This was a well paced short story with an prologue three years prior to the present time about two college students Austin Bennett and Jeremy Praytor who start off as a hookup but ends up much more until Austin gets ghosted…

Now three years later Austin is excited to spend the festive season with his twin sister Leah and his parents but Leah has a surprise- a fiancé by the name of Jeremy…

Jeremy is still suffering from internalised homophobia but does acknowledge that he is bisexual with asexuality tendencies towards women..

Leah has been patient with Jeremy not wanting to be intimate for three years until a pivotal moment that changes the lives of these three individuals… when Austin and Jeremy has to share a room…

This is when Austin finally gets his closure regarding his heartbreak and maybe a second chance at love…

This is where Jeremy finds the peace, safety and acceptance he always wanted… with the Bennett’s.

A sweet epilogue follows three months later to round off this sweet holiday romance!

I voluntarily received an ARC from Nisha’s Books & Coffee and the author for an honest non biased review.

Le sighhhh.I guess I just have to accept that this authors writing just isn’t for me. The scenario, tropes, and dynamics presented were setting us up for success but seemingly at EVERY TURN this author chose to have characters make the most frustrating or illogical choice. The background between the MCs wasn’t presented nearly as connected and deep as they then represented it later on in the book. With small tweaks this could have reallllly worked and made for a really sweet and satisfying story but I just ended up frustrated and annoyed and didn’t really but the “insta-love” that was being sold to me as a “second chance” romance. Then the several different kinks explored felt forced/random and didn’t feel like it made a whole lot of sense for the characters we were given. Yeah, all around not for meeee. And I’m sorry but like…the sister was kind of a bitch at times, then nice and sweet, but also stuck with the dude for YEARS under the circumstances that caused their split…like…there’s something wrong girl! Had me screaming DENIAL IS A RIVER IN EGYPT. YOUR HUSBAND IS GAYY.

Austin and Jeremy only wanted a hook-up, but they really clicked and started kind of dating, but after a few weeks, Jeremy disappears. Three year laters, Jeremy goes to her fiancee's family, to spend the holidays, and it turns out that his fiancee's twin brother is Austin. The attraction and connection is still there, but the situation is awkward and not ideal, to say the least, and furthermore some explanations are needed. This is an entertaining, quick, easy Christmas read, and lo.

While I liked the book and read it in one sitting, some situations were really to unrealistic for me to allow me to completely enjoy it. .

I got an ARC and this is my honest review.

This was such a sweet story. Despite of how things started between Jeremy, Austin and Leah, it happened exactly the way it was supposed to happen.

Only by that mishap was Jeremy able to find people who really loved him unconditionally. He was so deprived of love and affection that he didn’t know how it was supposed to feel.

His only way of coping when someone got too close was to run away. He didn’t know the difference between falling in love with someone and just loving someone. And when he realized it, it almost cost him.

I know it seems unrealistic how everything worked out with Austin’s family, but I choose to believe there are genuinely good people out there who would love someone like Jeremy despite his flaws. He deserved to be happy and Austin was that happiness.

Once again, Joelle brought us a heartfelt story that shows how important it is to accept and love who we exactly the way we are. We come in different shapes and sizes and that’s absolutely ok. The right people will love us as we are.

Austin lives for Christmas — it’s his favorite time of year — and this holiday is special because the whole family is finally together again. What he didn’t have on his bingo card? His sister showing up engaged...to the one person he never thought he’d see again. Jeremy. The guy who vanished without a word and left him to pick up the pieces of his broken heart. Now he’s suddenly in Austin’s house, in his space, in his head. Can Austin and Jeremy keep their past hidden, or will the truth shake the walls that Austin has carefully constructed around his heart.

Jeremy hasn’t seen Austin in years, but the longing never really faded. He’s engaged now — because after years of dating, that’s what you do, right? But then he walks into his fiancé’s family home and comes face-to-face with the person he never stopped thinking about. The man he walked away from. Austin.

This story was such a cozy Christmas read. I loved how Austin and Jeremy picked right back up, like no time had passed. I loved how Austin listened, how he validated Jeremy’s feelings once the truth of why he left came out. And I loved seeing Jeremy finally step into himself once he had people who truly supported him. And the sneaking around? Those stolen little moments? They brought back that fluttery, teenage feeling — where you know it’s forbidden, you know you shouldn’t, but you still can’t stay away.

If you’re into forced proximity, second chances, pining, found family, and cozy Christmas vibes, then this needs to be on your tbr.

This was fun! I wasn’t sure how it was going to work out considering all of those involved but it did and it was done well. I really enjoyed that although this was a holiday book we were given more than the holidays to focus on!

Austin was such a cutie who just wanted to be happy with the love of his life and Jeremy who wanted the same was just trying to do his best but at times this made it a little worse first.

Touching on how differently these two grew up when it came to loving and excepting parents helped us better understand why Jeremy made some of the choices he did when it came to both Austin and Leah. It didn’t make it right (which he openly acknowledges) but it didn’t give us a better understanding which I appreciated.

I liked their chemistry and the silly moments they shared together. There was dancing, snowmen and an adorable Christmas gift from Jeremy involved. This was a good time and I’m glad I read it!!

Austin & Jeremy

I didn't remember how quickly the story went when I read it the first time. It moves so smoothly and so quickly through the plot that I was halfway through again before I even realized it. These characters were a lot of fun to read, especially having their bit of prologue and knowing what they meant to one another. It was difficult still to see how Leah reacted initially to both the failure of her relationship with Jeremy and the development of Austin's renewal of his relationship with Jeremy. And still throws me off that Mr. And Mrs. Bennett don't have names, ones that we know anyway, but I loved their characters as well because they were the epitome of supportive & unconditionally loving parents both toward their own children as well as Jeremy. The immediate support they offered to Jeremy when he told them of his past was beautiful and incredible to see.

Forced to share was an interesting and fun holiday read that I've had the opportunity to read more than once. For the most part, any angst that exists in the story is primarily between Leah & Jeremy and Leah & Austin a bit, but there really is little to no angst between the two main characters once they move past any remaining hurt from their shared past.

I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

⭐⭐ 2/5.

ARC review.
I loved everything about this read, the plot, characters, time of year and the HEA that was well earned after so much time.
Austin and Jeremy have a history together that didn't end on a mutual split. Over the christmas break years later they meet again in a slightly uncomfortable setting.
The feelings are still there and both realizes the other is the one that got away.
Now they have to find out how to move forward in this unfortunate situation, is it even possible to have a future together.
When fate intervenes they just have to take this second chance coming their way.
This beautiful story contains a lot of unconditial love, second chances, love and support between family members, christmas time and coming home for the holiday. I warmly recommend this book, it was wonderful.

Forced to Share was such a fun and entertaining holiday read! Austin and Jeremy’s story had me laughing, swooning, and feeling all the awkward holiday vibes right along with them. I loved the forced proximity trope—being stuck together over the holidays made for some hilarious, tense, and surprisingly sweet moments. Their history added depth to the romance, and watching them navigate old feelings, misunderstandings, and lingering sparks kept me fully invested.

The story is lighthearted, cozy, and perfect for a festive read, with just enough tension and charm to make it memorable. The holiday setting was wonderfully done, and the chemistry between Austin and Jeremy felt real and heartfelt. I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s a delightful, feel-good story that kept me entertained from start to finish—I’ll definitely remember this one during Christmas reading season!

Forced to Share by Joelle Lynne is a second chance MM holiday romance novella. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I'd enjoyed every book of Lynne's that I've read so far, and this one was no different. This was my first winter holiday read of the year, and it was a perfect start to the season. I loved both Austin and Jeremy so much! They are both wonderful, empathetic characters who make you root for them from the very beginning. I just wanted to give them both a huge hug as I learned more about them and their struggles. I also grew to love Austin's family (even Leah) by the end.

Forced to Share had me smiling, laughing, and crying throughout, leaving me wanting more. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a quick holiday read with highly lovable MCs! 4.5/5 stars

What a rollercoaster, the emotions and healing in this book, it was a gut punch in the best way!
In this story we have Austin, one of our MMCs, he’s open about his sexuality, comfortable in who he is because he had a family that supported him. He met Jeremy (our other MMC) in college, and when Jeremy left without notice and blocked him, it left Austin heartbroken.
Jeremy grew up very differently, he was forced to hide who he is and question himself. When he fled, he transferred college to New York where he met Leah, coincidentally or by fate - Austin’s sister. Thus begins this web of miscommunication, pining, longing, and wanting to be loved without fear of judgement.
This book had all the feels, I laughed, I cringed, I blushed, I cried, and I got emotional whiplash. This is a story of finding the freedom to be yourself, loving without judgement and being loved unconditionally. I loved it!

I received this ARC for my honest opinion. Forced to Share by Joelle Lynne was a cute and fun read. Austin and Jeremy’s story was one that was a second chance trope and it so cute even through the heartache. Austin was excited to go home for Christmas and his entire family was going to be there including his sister and she was bringing her new fiancé. Jeremy was meeting his fiancée’s family for the first time and hadn’t expected that part of that family was the man he had dated his freshman year of college. Austin and Jeremy get to know each other after not seeing each other for years. They experience the hurt and heartbreak all over again. I could not put this book down. I highly recommend reading. Joelle is a fantastic writer.
