What an entertaining quick read this book is! I started it at night, intending to read just a page but wow, was I hooked. I ended up reading it straight through to the end. The writing is amazing: detailed yet crisp, with no chapter or scene feeling overly elaborate.

The story follows our protagonist, Yara, who like any thriller fan was an ardent reader of Nancy Drew books as a school kid. She's inquisitive and loves solving puzzles, so life throws her the biggest one yet: uncovering the root of the dark, looming shadows haunting her school and putting an end to them.

Thanks to her best friend Zoe, who becomes her partner despite her gut feeling warning her otherwise, the adventure begins.

After following a mysterious man dressed entirely in black, Yara finds herself in a set of old, dilapidated cabins deep in the woods, a place students were strictly warned to avoid.
Inside, she finds a huge bag left unattended on a table and the Nancy Drew in her made her inspect it winning her a jackpot: a detailed map of hidden tunnels under the school, tunnels outlined with vivid cryptic symbols and notes written in code.

This marks the beginning of an adventurous, thrilling journey with many difficult obstacles to get through. Hidden school secrets, buried pasts and a mission that demands risking one's life to save not just her school but something greater.

Siddhiksha Patel’s story is an absolute page-turner! The mix of mystery, fantasy, and adventure had me hooked right from the start. Yara is such a bold and relatable character, and her friendship with Zoe adds warmth to the suspense. The world building with secret tunnels, ancient runes, and the Shadow King is so atmospheric that it feels like you’re living inside the story.

The twist with Professor Elara was completely unexpected and made the climax even more thrilling. What I loved most is how the story balances heart and suspense, leaving me both satisfied and eager for what’s coming next.

Why you should read this: If you enjoy gripping mysteries with magical twists, brave young heroes, and an ending that leaves you wanting more, this book is for you. Highly recommended!

Shadows Beneath : Whispers of the forgotten " is a great read for anyone who enjoys magical, adventurous stories filled with twist and turns, courage, and just the right amount of danger. This book literally destroyed my sleep schedule because I just couldn't put it down. The story revolves around the  mysterious world of Yara Ken’s school, typically making the book more interesting and gripping to read. The protagonist Yara was a curious twelve-year-old girl who loved solving mysteries and had a strong personality. In the very first chapter she encounters a man dressed in black, trying to escape with a huge bag filled with documents. Yara just like a fearless child was determined to uncover the secret with the help of her best friend Zoe. From underground tunnels to a secret society tied to dark magic, the plot quickly draws the reader in with suspense and excitement. Siddhiksha’s writing flows so naturally that you find yourself completely immersed without even noticing how quickly the pages are turning.

What I liked most about the book is the bond between Yara and her best friend Zoe. All the characters are well developed and amazing which made the emotions feel raw and real.. The twist with Professor Elara adds tension, making the reader wonder who can truly be trusted. Turn the pages to know what happens next in the story and know what action would Yara take against everything that was happening. The language used was rich and lucid, easy for the young readers and beginners to understand. The book also has attractive, colourful images which made the reading experience even more amazing. llOkay, honestly… this book surprised me🌀. From the very first scene where Yara, just a 12-year-old schoolgirl, sees someone sneaking out of the principal’s office with a bag of documents, I literally went, “arre yeh kya ho raha hai!” The suspense caught me right there.

Yara is such a strong character. Matlab itni chhoti si age mein bhi she’s fearless, curious, and never ready to stop even when danger is right in front of her. I loved that about her. And❤️ Zoe, her best friend—uff, their friendship is pure gold. The way they trust each other, stand together… reminded me of my school days, when a best friend felt like your entire team against the world.

And then came the shocker Professor Elara. Starting mein toh she looked trustworthy, but jab uska asli face samne aaya, dil literally fast beat karne laga.🫨 Reality hits!!! That whole twist with the tunnels, secret society, and dark ritual gave me goosebumps. Felt like watching a thriller movie. The story goes from underground tunnels to a secret group with dark magic, and it keeps you hooked with all the suspense and excitement

The best part of this book is that ye ekdam simple, fast-paced hai. Plus those little drawings found here and there adds reality to be felt.

By the end, I was like—“bas, ab toh next part chahiye jaldi se!” It’s a short read but honestly full of thrill, magic, and even some emotions that hits. Totally worth picking up if you enjoy mystery and adventure with that little extra spark of magic. I read it in one sitting 😅

"Shadows Beneath: Whispers of The Forgotten" by Siddhiksha Patel is a magical, mysterious, and adventurous read that kept me hooked from the beginning.

The story is set in a school, which instantly makes it relatable and exciting, especially for younger readers who often dream of discovering hidden secrets within familiar places. The protagonist, Yara Ken, a curious and fearless 12-year-old, was wonderfully written. Her boldness and determination to solve mysteries made her a strong and inspiring lead.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the book is the bond between Yara and her best friend Zoe. Their friendship felt genuine and showed the true value of standing by each other in difficult times.

The writing style is simple yet captivating, making it easy to follow for beginners while still engaging for adults who enjoy fast-paced magical adventures. Since this is the author’s debut, some parts felt slightly repetitive, but it never broke the flow or lessened the curiosity of the story.

Other highlights include the illustrated, colourful images, which bring the story to life, and the short chapters, which make the book a quick, smooth read. The twists — especially the part involving Professor Elara and the hidden tunnels — were gripping and left me wanting more.

Overall, this is a delightful middle-grade fantasy filled with courage, friendship, and thrilling mysteries. A perfect pick for young readers and for anyone who enjoys magical adventures with unexpected twists. I’m already looking forward to the next part!

I just finished this book about Yara, a curious 12-year-old who stumbles onto a mystery at her school, and I have to say—I really enjoyed it. From the start, the story pulled me in and kept me turning the pages. This book has mystery, thrill, forbidden magic, underground tunnels and a school hiding a secret underneath for years! It talks about the courageous behaviour of a young girl and thus it is very suitable for young readers to get into reading as well! I would definitely make my lil brother read this book and I am sure he will love it as he loves to read about magic and suspense! 💕

Yara’s character stood out the most for me. She’s smart, brave, and refuses to back down no matter how tough things get. One of the things that stood out to me the most was Zoe’s loyalty to Yara. Her friendship with Zoe brought a lot of warmth to the story and balanced out the suspense nicely. No matter how dangerous things got, she never left Yara’s side. Even when their lives were at risk, Zoe stayed with her, making sure Yara didn’t have to face anything on her own. That kind of friendship really gave the story a lot of heart and made their bond feel genuine.

Siddhiksha Patel's writing is clear and fast-paced, and the illustrations - oh! Those are so cute and it reminded me of my childhood when I used to read illustrated books only! It added an extra layer of fun to the reading experience. It’s a short story that makes it very easy to read, but it packs in enough excitement to make it memorable. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the mood for a quick, adventurous read.

It’s been a while since I picked up a fantasy story ✨📚—I’ve mostly been into general fiction. But when I came across this little book, it held me tight from the very beginning. Though short, it was intense and gripping. The pacing was quick, yet the author didn’t miss out on details that made the story come alive.

The story follows Yara, a 12-year-old girl who is addicted to Nancy Drew books . Brilliant in her studies and active in co-curriculars, Yara’s life takes a turn when she notices a mysterious man heading toward a dilapidated cabin hidden in the woods near her school. From that point on, the tale unfolds into a magical fantasy mystery that keeps you turning the pages. Just when you feel the journey has come to an end, a revival pulls you right back in—more than once!—keeping the momentum alive!!

Alongside Yara’s adventure, the story highlights her bond with her friend Zoe , who supports her through every twist and challenge. Their friendship adds warmth to the otherwise mysterious and magical setting.

As the story closes, it leaves you at a crossroads, hinting that there’s more to come. It’s a cliffhanger that makes you eager for the next part .

This book is perfectly suited for young readers, who enjoy mysteries, magic, and adventure . Its simple language, quick flow, and the addition of illustrations make the experience even more delightful. The author’s storytelling craft truly deserves appreciation . Shadows Beneath: Whispers of the Forgotten may be a short read, but it leaves a lasting impression—and I’m already looking forward to the sequel!

What would you do if you stumbled upon a hidden world right beneath your school? That’s exactly what 12 year old Yara Ken finds herself facing & it changes everything.

She is twelve, curious & fearless. One day, she spots a man sneaking out of the principal’s office with a bag full of documents & that’s when her ordinary school life takes a wild turn. With her best friend Zoe by her side, Yara discovers hidden tunnels, dark secrets & a dangerous ritual happening right under their school.

What I loved the most was their friendship. Yara and Zoe have each other’s back no matter what & it feels so real and heartwarming. Just when you think you know what’s happening, a mind blowing twist hits you!!! The secret tunnels, maps & magical moments made the story so thrilling & amazing 😍

The book is short, fast paced & super easy to read. The little illustrations used in my post is from the book itself & it scattered throughout the pages make the scenes come alive and add so much fun to the story. I finished it in one sitting and honestly can’t wait for the next part.

Shadows Beneath is one of those books that reminds you why debut novels are so special. There’s something incredibly refreshing about reading a young author’s first step into the literary world and Siddhiksha Patel does complete justice to it.

For a first-time writer, the confidence in her storytelling really stands out. The writing has a natural flow, the characters feel alive, and the little details make you want to lean in and keep turning the pages. It’s not easy to balance imagination with readability, especially in a debut, but she manages it beautifully.

Shadows Beneath follows Yara, a 12-year-old bursting with curiosity and energy, who, along with her best friend Zoe, stumbles into a world of hidden paths and quiet secrets waiting to be uncovered. What starts as playful exploration soon becomes a journey of courage, friendship, and discovery. It’s a story that captures the magic of being young..the thrill of adventure, the strength of companionship, and the wonder of finding light even in the shadows.

Siddhiksha Patel may just be starting her journey, but Shadows Beneath proves she has both the voice and the vision to go far. For a debut, this is more than impressive..it’s promising! And I genuinely can’t wait to see what she writes next.

A gripping thriller with magical fantasy for the young readers who love to travel in a magical adventure

A page turner, fast paced, a short thrilling read, loved the way the plot is placed. Characters are developed well. Loved the story line which felt different and engaging. I liked the bond between Yara and her best friend Zoe. The words gripping and thrilling has found its apt place where the twist and imagination were neatly placed. The courage of the main lead was shown aptly, a positivity filled character. The writing was captivating, even as a debut novel she kept the grip of the readers till the end.

It really felt like a fantasy thriller movie.

Loved the illustration.

The chapters are short and well placed. The rituals and secret society felt like watching a movie.

The main thing I loved is she completed every chapter neatly without any hanging, by putting a well developed pace.

It's like when we are small we have a fondness for searching some mysteries around us and trying to solve on our own, feeling a surge of nostalgia. As a fan of mystery thrillers from a small age, I too had such fictional thoughts.

For the young readers who love to solve mysteries with magic here you are to unleash your dreams…

Have you ever wondered what's buried under your school? Is there any hidden secret tunnel or any kind of forbidden spells and ritual performing under the building of your school.... Sounds interesting right!? It is what happens with yara, a 12 year old girl, who was not only good at studies but excellent in every field, she's class topper and a curious child. One evening she notice something unusual, a shadow like structure. She follows that shadows in the woods and discover some very dark secret about her school. She doesn't stop there and keep digging to know more about this and this let her to an adventure of something she never thought would happen.

I truly loved the bond that yara and zoe shared. The way zoe supported yara in every single step, even though there was risk to their life but still she was with her all the time and dont let her go alone.

The book kept me hooked till the very end. It's short and simple. The best thing about this, the author used pictures to describe the scene briefly and to make it feel real.

If you like mysteries with spells and forbidden magic, this book is a must read for you.

Siddhiksha Patel's Shadows Beneath was an unexpectedly fun reading experience for me. Yara, the ambitious 12-year-old protagonist, encounters something strange at her school, and finds her self underground, in tunnels, doing some forbidden rituals, and uncovering some dark secrets. I loved that Yara was consistently brave, and that she never flinched, even when things felt a little "off."

I also really enjoyed Yara's friendship with her best friend Zoe, which had much of that feeling of school friendships where you and your bestie-like crew collectively feel like you are against the world. The plot twists involving Elara the professor, the secret society, and the Shadow King, were equally thrilling and unsettling.

While Shadows Beneath is a short read, it is filled with intrigue, heart and adventure. The author used a bare-fist writing style, complete with quick pacing and illustrations that would capture a younger reader's attention, but I still enjoyed the book as an adult. I would describe Shadows Beneath a guilty pleasure read, that I ingested in one sitting.

I recently picked up this book about a young girl named Yara, who's 12 and finds herself at the center of a huge mystery at her school. Honestly, from the very first page, I was completely hooked. It has all the elements I love: a thrilling mystery, secret magic, and even a network of hidden tunnels beneath the school. It’s a great story for young readers, highlighting the courage of a brave girl. I can’t wait to have my little brother read it, especially since he loves anything with magic and suspense.

What truly made the book for me was Yara’s character. She’s incredibly smart and brave, and she never backs down from a challenge. And her friendship with Zoe is one of the story's best parts. Their bond felt so real, and Zoe's loyalty to Yara was heartwarming. No matter how dangerous things got, Zoe was always right there with her, which gave their friendship a genuine and beautiful feel.

The author, Siddhiksha Patel, has a writing style that's both simple and fast-paced, which makes it a breeze to get through. The illustrations are a really nice touch, too—they're so charming and took me back to when I was a kid reading illustrated books. It's a quick read, but it’s packed with enough adventure to make a lasting impression. I'd highly recommend it if you’re looking for a fun and exciting story.

Shadows Beneath: Whispers of the Forgotten is a short mystery story written by Siddhiksha Patel. The story is about Yara, a brave 12-year-old girl who loves solving mysteries.

One day, she sees a shadowy figure sneaking out of the principal's office with a bag of documents. Her curiosity leads her to follow the figure, where she discovers many secrets, she was not supposed to know. Yara finds hidden chambers, strange rituals, cults, and a secret society that has been kept hidden for a long time. As she digs deeper into the mystery, with the help of her best friend Zoe and some unexpected allies, Yara works to uncover the truth and stop the evil behind it. The story highlights her courage, intelligence, and the strong friendship she shares with Zoe.

The plot is short, fast-paced, and easy to read. However, some parts of the story are predictable, and the ancient or magical elements are not fully explained, leaving a few questions unanswered. Despite these minor issues, the book is enjoyable. I would recommend Shadows Beneath to young readers who enjoy adventure, mystery, and stories of brave girls.

This story pulled me in from the very first page and refused to let go. What begins as a simple mystery quickly unravels into something far darker it's more intricate and unexpectedly emotional. The author builds tension with such precision that even the quiet moments feel charged as if something is breathing just out of sight.

Yara's journey is the heart of the story and watching her shift from uncertainty to fierce determination was incredibly satisfying. Her fear feels real, her courage feels earned and her connection to the school's secrets adds a haunting beauty to the entire arc.Its equally compelling like ancient magic, forgotten rituals and a school that feels like a character in its own.Even the hallways, shadows and every whispered secret adds to the atmosphere.

I liked how the story never settles for the obvious.Just when you think you understand the darkness, it deepens and when you think the danger has passed, the ground shifts again.

It's the kind of story that makes you pause, breathe and then dive right back in.
Shadows Beneath is a gripping eerie, beautifully crafted tale that stays with you long after the final page

This book is a perfect read for young explorers who are always invested so much in finding out more than meets the eye. The story captures the pulse of today’s generation with a tone and imagination that feels fresh and relatable.

Shadows Beneath is about Yara and hidden dark secrets in her school .One night she encounters a mysterious thief not one stealing gold or jewels but documents lots of them. Her curiosity gets the better of her and she decides to follow him. What she uncovers is a trail of secrets, unexpected twists and strange creatures that are both fascinating and chilling. The illustrations are cherry on the top , the creatures are terrifying to look at . I have intentionally not attached the pictures of dark creatures that Yara comes across in the climax as it'll be more thrilling to look at them while reading the book.
To know more about this pick this book up . This book will have a sequel too.

This book was such a ride! Once I started, I honestly couldn’t stop. Yara, a bold twelve-year-old, dives straight into a mystery after spotting a stranger with a bag full of documents. With her best friend Zoe, she ends up exploring hidden tunnels, uncovering dark secrets, and facing twists that kept me on edge.

The friendship between Yara and Zoe felt so real, and the surprise around Professor Elara made me question every character. The writing is smooth, the pace is quick, and the pictures add extra charm.

What really stood out for me was how easily the story pulls you in. It’s not just about solving a mystery, but also about courage, trust, and the excitement of stepping into the unknown. The blend of suspense, adventure, and emotion makes this book a memorable read that stays with you even after the last page.

A fun, gripping read - perfect if you love mysteries and adventures!

This is the first fantasy fiction I have ever read, and I loved it. Written in a lucid style, it is pacy. I finished it in a single sitting. The plot kept me hooked till the end. The story is supplemented with illustrations, bringing the plot to life. As a matter of fact, this book has inspired me to read more fantasy fiction.

The story revolves around Yara, a schoolgirl who stumbles upon a hidden network of tunnels in her school campus, which is key to a deep, dark danger. Yara is racing against time, determined to stop the threat. Will she make it? Read the book to know more. Young Yara epitomises curiosity, fearlessness and righteousness. I could relate to the character very well, as I have grown up reading and admiring Nancy Drew novels.

If you are in the mood to pick up a short novella along with a cup of chai, this book is the perfect choice.
