Black River Pack #3

Thrown to the Wolves

Rate this book
Annora Channing's entire world changes the moment she discovers she's a bear shifter. With mated wolves for parents, she should have been a wolf also. When the man she grew up thinking was her father realizes she isn't his daughter, he devises a plan to use her existence to his advantage in a way that will get her out from under his roof.

When her situation goes from bad to worse, Annora escapes but is badly injured in the process. Luckily, Elias Reve comes to her rescue while on his way to Wolf's Point and the daughter he lost years ago. With nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to, Annora joins him on his journey and ends up running smack-dab into the arms of her mate.

Parker Tate knows Annora is his the moment he lays eyes on her. When he manages to mate and mark her within hours of when they meet, he considers himself lucky. Then the trouble nipping at Annora's heels finds her and Parker realizes the path to claiming his mate won't be as easy as he thought - especially not with the bears involved.

This is book three in the Black River Pack series. Each novella features a different couple.

I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.

When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"

Hot alpha Male..Check! Protective hero...Check!! Hot Steamy Romance..CHECK CHECK!! A book that will leave you swooning..BIG FAT CHECK MARK!!!! That’s right, Rochelle Paige did it once again and got me loving her newest PNR release, Thrown To The Wolves. I swear if there is ever a group of brothers that will have your panties-melting and heart-swooning, don’t look any further than the Black River Pack Series. Hunter, Spencer and Parker Tate will have you howling and growling in the bedroom. So if you are ready to take bite into those Tate brothers, this series is a must read.

#TTTW

In this third and final book, we are all treated to the story of Parker Tate and his mate, Annora Channing. Parker is the youngest brother and was fated to mate with someone who was discarded by her family. When Parker meets Annora for the first time, sparks of attraction was brewing between these two. No words were need to be spoken since an unspoken bond was already connecting and uniting these two. Regardless, that Annora was a different kind of shifter, Parker made it known that he didn’t care. Annora Channing was his and she belonged to him. One meeting, one look was all it took for Annora and Parker to declare that they were each other’s mate. But the perfect HEA had to wait, when danger comes nipping at their heels when another alpha wolf wants to claim Annora. So now that Parker finally found his mate, how far would he go to protect his woman? And will Annora finally get a chance to be part of a loving family?

#ThrownIntoTheWolves2

I absolutely LOVE this series. Although the stories are short, Ms. Paige was able to incorporate romance, steam, drama and suspense into Thrown To The Wolves. The beloved characters Hunter, Grace, Spencer, and Eliza are also thrown into the mix so we really do get a sense of family and friendship. As always, Rochelle doesn’t disappoint her readers because Parker is still an alpha dominant male but with a hint of sweetness. Thrown To The Wolves was a perfect conclusion to the Tate Brothers and I am a bit sad to say goodbye to them. Rochelle Paige has definitely made shape-shifter romance sexy, steamy, and hot. So if you are looking for a quick read to heat up those kindles, then go on and read The Black River Pack Series and trust me when I say you want to take a bite on those Tate brothers.

After reading Spencer's story, I am firmly team Hunter but Patrick is a close second favorite. The story begins right where book two leaves off and I feel like we get a lot more story line and character development here than any of the other previous stories.

Annora is Patrick's fate mate, the one discarded by her family. After eighteen years of living with a disinterested mother and a father who never thought she was good enough, Annora get a shock of a life time when she shifts for the first time ever and she's not a wolf, but a bear.

Finding out she was the product of her mother's infidelity pushes the man she thought was her father over the edge. Refusing to be sold off to a dangerous man, Annora flees for her life and ends up at Wolf Pointe and right in the path of Patrick.

This was definitely fast paced and has the MCs mated and marked within hours of meeting each other but it somehow worked. Patrick and Annora were both accepting, protective of each other and ready to fall in love. There was no struggle, no push/pull and no unnecessary drama. The smexy times were still smoking hot and a bit more on the kinky side but the story wasn't just about the ton of sex these two have. It had a more front and center plot line that deals with family, both the pack family and also the biological family ties.

I loved the intro to the bear clan and Annora's father and crazy over-protective brothers. The melding of the two families for Annora's sake was cute and opens up more possibilities for future stories.

The relationship between Annora and Parker was fine. The best of the series, actually. I mostly enjoyed this book, but the plotline of Annora’s parents soils it.

Sexual assault is serious, and lying about it is horrific. This book did not address the severity of this at all. It is mentioned and dismissed.

Everything happens so fast and we’re not given a satisfying conclusion.

I will be continuing with the Fated Mates series because I’ve (mostly) enjoyed it up to this point. I do hope that the author addresses serious topics with more focus and delicacy in future books.

Annora Channing is on the run having fled with her life (no joke) she escapes with the help of a wolf shifter whose kindness overwhelms her. It's not something she has ever been exposed to but she knows instantly that she can trust this man.

Parker is the youngest of the brothers, with a bit of a white knight syndrome happening. His protective instincts in regards to women are swoon worthy. He's watched his brothers find their mates and all he longs for his one. The one to make him complete.

When Eliza his brothers mate dreams of her Parker is stunned all he can think is where is she and how long till she gets here. When he finds out that she's been injured all his protective instincts fire up. His only thought is she's hurt and he's not there to help her.

Their mating is swift, its incredibly sexy and sweet. But with her arrival is danger. The past she was running from is hunting for her. And it's going to take not just the wolf pack to protect her but the bear shifters also. More surprises but they are good ones!

This series completely captured me. I'm not normally a shifter girl, but now? Rochelle has me hooked.

Annora never got in at home. Her father hated her, but when she didn't shift into a wolf at 16, his hatred grew. When she finally shifted at 18, it was into a bear instead of a wolf. All heck broke out then. Parker gets called to Spencer's cabin about Eliza's dream. She tells him his mate is coming, that trouble is following her. She also tells him to be prepared, that his mate is probably a bear instead of a wolf. Annora's father decides to give her to the Alpha of the Lyall wolf pack, a truly evil man, to pay off his debt. He's going to force the mating. She forces a car wreck. That's when Elias finds her. He brings her to Parker's town. But the wolf her father sold her to is coming for her. Can Parker keep her safe? Will the other bears help or hurt?

This one was way more intense than book 2. I liked this series. The next set is about bears, so I'm hoping it's about the ones that were in this book.

Thrown to the wolves was my favorite installment in this series so far.
Hunter was so scrumptious. Like lemonade in the summer he quenched my
perfect alpha thirst. I am one that adores fated to be mated or insta-love story lines. I crave loyal and true heroes and really go crazy over
bossy but sweet dirty talkers. Hunter fit this check list all the way.

This was  just the perfect escape and I never want to leave the romantic world that this talented author created. From excitement that raised goosebumps from the suspense and rising temperatures due to the erotic love scenes. I was over the moon satisfied.

Rochelle Paige has found herself on my short list of favorite authors
and I eagerly await the next sizzling story she graces us with. Heroes
who are the epitome of alpha and heroines who just feel real. Mystery
and passion and beautiful love stories. These characteristics are what
you'll find in a Rochelle Paige novel. Careful though once one story
ends you just can't wait for the next.

Little brother Parker gets his HEA with the curvacious, quiet yet spunky bear shifter Annora and he was everything I expected and wanted him to be. Even though its not the most common thing for different shifter species to mate, Parker doesn't flinch or question the mate call he feels when he first lands eyes on Annora. These two are seriously sweet and oh so sexy together. With Annora's past racing to catch up to her, Parker doesn't hesitate one moment to step in, along with his family and pack, to protect her; protection and family is not something Annora is used to but has craved her whole life. Although it takes her a little bit to fully let her guard down with Parker, seeing his concern for the danger she is in, lets her accept his mate claim fully and completely; it opens her up to trust him with her whole story. When Annora's past finally catches up to her her new family steps up to her side and in doing so, secrets and lies are revealed to Annora about her true origins and everything comes full circle for her, her new family and new pack.

Hunter/Grace and Spencer/Eliza are back, with surprises of their own. New characters are introduced, Elias (Eliza's father) and bear shifter/pack leader, Carrick, along with his three sons, Alasdair, Braden and Camden (sexy triplets!) I hope that maybe there will be a spin off series with the bear shifters. Even though Carrick wasn't in this a lot, I liked the character and his back story once its revealed. It would also be a fun way to check in with the Black River Pack.

This story packed a lot in. It felt a little rushed here and there but overall was a great conclusion to this series. Throughout the whole series, you'll discover really likeable characters, not so damsel-y damsels in distress, sexy take no prisoner alphas and a lot of heart.

Book Review - Thrown to the Wolves by Rochelle Paige - 4 Family is Everything Stars

We reach the end of the Black River series (although I have a feeling they might crop up in the Bears books) and so, who else’s book would we be ending the series with, but our final brother Parker. His sister in law Eliza calls for him, to impart the news that not only is his father not dead and on his way to them, but also has Parker’s mate with him. Did she get a call? Well in a fashion, as she got a vision of this through. So she also knows something else about Parker’s mate - she’s a bear shifter not a wolf.

Annora is shunned by her parents when she shifts on her 18th birthday and turns not into a wolf but a bear. Her mother tells them that she a product of a rape, and as her father has seemingly always hated her anyway, he sets about to get rid of her. How so? By selling her off to someone in another pack who he owes money to - two birds, one stone, right? But Annora knows this wolf is cruel and feeling she doesn’t owe her family anything, she sets a plan in motion to escape before she can be delivered.

Now she’s on the run towards Black River, not knowing that when she gets there, her mate awaits her. Can she easily accept her mate and the ready made family that are waiting for her?

I think this one was my favourite of all. I liked to see the conflict of her past, the way it caught up to her present and how she took charge of her own destiny to ensure she had a future. A great little read.

If I had one niggle, it would that one of the sex scenes seemed to repeat on me. Not sure if it was too similar to another one in this book, of one of it's predecessors, as I read them all back to back. But that's really all - and if that's all I had to moan about, then it's really no big deal is it?

Why do I love shifter books??? I will tell you why. I love them because there is no question about does he love her or is she the one. He accepts- then he takes like a boss. That is why I have loved reading Black River Pack series because the men either know or when they find out they come in like the GD Kool Aide man. Ms. Paige has won me over before with her books, but these just make you get lost in a story about a guy and a girl.

Parker wasn’t looking for his mate, but he wasn’t scared of finding her either. When Annora shows up in his town she was just hoping for a break, but what she finds is a mate. With these men love is something that is nourished it’s something that is handed to them and they run with it and take to a new level. A level that involves protecting not only them, but the family that comes along with it Parker is all soft, but when faced with his mates future he turns all bad ass.

I hate to see my Black River Pack men go away, but I’m happy that I had a chance to experience a love that is fast and furious and no holds barred. I’m glad Rochelle took a chance on a series that would make us all fall in love.

This one was my favorite out of the three. Not sure why either. Maybe it was Parker? The story itself? Not sure.
After seeing Parker in the previous books I knew that I really wanted him to get his HEA. I knew that no matter what, they would do anything to help either their mates or just anyone in need. I really liked that. But more so Parker. Parker was just more of a sweetheart.
Annora, I really felt sorry for her. After the shit her “Father” put her through you really just couldn’t not feel sorry for her.
I did pretty guess what was going to happen but it did not take away from the book. I still would swoon when Parker would do something sweet.
Overall
Really liked it. If you like Wolf shifters, short and hot, Alpha Males then I do suggest you snatch this series up. I really hope three certain Bears get their own books.

This was a great story. Of course it was very fast paced but that is to be expected in a novella. However, that didn’t take away from the intensity or the sexiness that is the alpha-male shifter.

Parker and Annora realized they were mates the second they saw each other. Technically, Parker knew ahead of time thanks to Eliza (Spencer’s mate) but it was definitely an instant connection when the met. Their connection was fiery and had some seriously hot sex scenes. At the same time there was plenty of sweet moments between them and even a few of Parker exuding a seriously protective streak.

This story had action, passion, humor, and romance all rolled into one great novella. This was an awesome conclusion to an awesome series. I highly recommend it. 5 out of 5 stars!

4 Parker is Mine Stars

This is Parker's tale. I feel that he is the yummies out of all three brothers. His mate shall be the one cast out from her family.

Annora is on the run, she is with Eliza's Dad. We got this from the vision Eliza had at the end of book 2. Annora is different, but that is what is great about the Black Wolf Pack, they accept everyone.

This is a quick read that is full of heat, passion. Parker doesn't waste any time in getting what he wants. Plus we get to see the rest of the gang too. All three of these boys are smoking hot!

I have really enjoyed this series!

Thrown to the Wolves by Rochelle Paige

Wow I have to say this has got to be my favourite book of this series.

In Thrown to the Wolves we find out all about Parker.

When Eliza tells him about the dream she had involving his mate Parker is all out to finding her anyway he can.

Another amazing story in The Black River Pack series and by far to me the best. So much detail has gone into writing this story considering its a short book Rochelle hasn't missed anything out you get a brilliant storyline.

5***** deserves everyone of them

I was so happy to finally read Parker's story because he was the one brother that I loved the most. He ws the sensitive, caring one that always wanted to help the damsel in distress. I was glad that he finally got his HEA and mate that I was disappointed when this series ended. I loved catching up Hunter and Spencer and seeing how things were working out for them. This was the perfect ending and the fight scenes were the best.

Annora the bear and Elias the wolf. Another damsel in distress on the run (this time from her psycho step dad and the shifter he wants to sell her to).

I probably shouldn't have read these three back to back, because by the time I got to this one I was bored and skimmed a lot.

Everything was a little too easy in this one. Elias was totally prepared for.her and Annora was pretty easy going. So the only trouble was the villains... very predictable.

Annora Channing’s world changed forever when she shifted into a bear. Her father instantly knew her mother sired her with a different male. The only thing Annora thought was strange was her mother claimed rape. Her father then disposes of her in the only way possible. By selling his daughter off to a hated rival.

Thanks to Eliza, Parker finds out his mate is on her way to his town. But not in the best conditions. Things are up in the air on how to protect the bear shifter from an alpha wolf that is a little crazed. But thanks to pulling on ties, Annora finds she has more saviors and family in the world than she expected.

The struggles between these two are hard for Parker and Annora. She is trying to figure out her life and keep it free from those that want to control her. But does taking a mate change everything? She doesn’t really understand her feelings but finds out that they are really strong towards Parker. They instantly realize they are meant for each other but fight the bound barely as it snaps in place.

This book has an instant love attraction between the two main characters. The only thing is wondering if they create a strong enough bound just in the little time they have together. Doesn’t really seem to build up as fast as the other two books and seems to lack some urgency between them. Hard to believe they fell for each other so fast but animals have a different genetic makeup than humans. But I would have liked to see more of a struggle put up by Annora, especially after just having a very traumatic event happening to her.

If I had to rate this book out of 5 stars I would have to give it 4/5. I enjoyed the story but something was missing to get it there for me. Highly recommend to readers that love the instant love trope that these two got going on in this book. Plus, if you enjoy paranormal romance, this book is for you.

Yeah, there's a reason I don't read this author anymore, guess I needed to re read a couple of her books to refresh my memory. Holy cow. So there is a ton of repetition, cliches galore and not in a good way, inconsistencies, it's just a bit of a mess to be honest. I thought maybe this was an author I could re visit but nah, I'm gonna add her to my no-no list.

Sugary sweet ending to the Black River Pack series!

The heroine was treated terribly by her "parents" but as soon as she meets her hero he wisks her away and it's all hearts, flowers and babies/HEA!

I love this series. I got these three as a freebie but I just bought the next four (spin off) cause I'm not ready for them to end.

This series is wolves but the next is my favorite: BEARS!

I cannot say enough how much I love this series! Of course, I’ve never read anything by Rochelle Paige that I haven’t loved. She is an automatic 1-click author for me. However, this series was her first foray into the paranormal and she conquered it! In some ways, this could be read as a standalone, however, it is definitely better if you read the series in order, starting with Crying Wolf, then Shoot for the Moon, and lastly Thrown to the Wolves.
The storyline is creative and I was glued to every page. The paranormal world of wolves is popular and Rochelle could have easily fallen into the “it’s been done” category. However, not to my surprise at all, she took on some unique twists and made it fresh and new. As usual, I am completely head over heels for her leading man.
Parker is definitely a character to fall in love with. Strong, loving, and sexy, sexy, did I mention sexy? He has a bit of a hero complex, however it is stemmed from his knowledge, through a vision of his grandmothers’, that his mate will be abandoned by her family, and most likely in need of a white knight. This is one of my favorite personality traits in Parker. He wants nothing more than to find his mate. When he finds out she will finally arrive, he is relieved and so ready to love her. The moment they finally meet, he knows she is his (enter the swoon-worthy alpha traits) and already accepts that he loves her. It’s so freaking hot when a guy is all about wooing his girl. And this attitude is most of what convinces Annora to accept him as her mate immediately.
Annora has had the upbringing from Hell. Her abusive father and weak mother have treated her terribly at it is a wonder that she has any strength left inside her at all. When the danger to her life hits an all-time high, due mostly to the discovery of a well-kept secret by her mother, she is forced to flee. Luckily, she is aided by a stranger who begins to show her that the world is not filled with the evil she has been subjected to her whole life.
The story unfold with steamy, toe-curling passion, love, and some suspenseful action. As a novella, it goes quick (much to my disappointment because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye) but it doesn’t leave anything out. The story is well thought out and completely developed.
I read this in one sitting, unable to tare myself away! 5 huge stars to another Rochelle Paige book that goes on my “to be read again and again” list!

I will admit I have always gravitated to the youngest Tate brother, Parker. I had a sense that he was going to be giving the most unexpected mate in his novella and I wasn’t wrong. As a werewolf, he can alpha flare with the likes of his two brothers, but I knew deep down he had a sweetness to his spirit. He’s been the one supporting his brothers by blood and by nature throughout all their troubles which lead me to believe that when his mate would roll into town that he would do the exact same thing for her.

Annora has lived a sheltered life and when her escape presents itself, she jumps at the chance. The man helping her clearly comes as a surprise when his relationship is reveled to someone we’ve already met before. When she comes limping in the Black River pack, she knows instantly that Parker is meant for her. While I’m not a fan of the instant love situations found in some books, I didn’t mind it as much as I usually do with this book. Yes, it was an instant love connection, but it had been foretold. Parker knew she was coming so it wasn’t exactly a pounce and you’re mine kind of situation. Of course in true Tate mate story comes its share of the drama. Another alpha wants his mate for himself and come hell or high water Parker isn’t about to let her go.

I can’t believe that this series coming to end…I’m not sure I’m ready to say good bye to the Tate men. This is one of the best novella shifter series that I’ve had the pleasure of reading in quite some time. Paige has some serious writing chops to be able to deliver such a well-developed and emotionally charged story in such a small page count. You get a chance to form a connection with each of these characters as the novella’s progress that you would get from a full length novel. This is her first trip into the literary land of the paranormal romance story yet you couldn’t even tell that she hadn’t been writing in this genre for years. Where there are shifters, we all know will be those demanding sexy alphas. Yet, her stories have incorporating a sense of belonging and family that you don’t often see in an alpha shifter story.

Boy do I love me some Tate brothers! But I'll admit, Thrown to the Wolves is my favorite in the pack. There's just something about an alpha male who is strong and in control but also has an empathetic side - a bit of a white knight complex - a part of him that has a strong pull to help any woman in distress because it's what he needs to feel a connection to his mate - a person he's never met but is his and his alone.

Like his two older brothers, Parker Tate knows a defining characteristic about his mate, and with the knowledge that she'll be discarded by her family, he's been biding his time until he finds her by helping those at Wolf's Point who need help in any capacity. But the time to assist his mate has now arrived, and Parker is willing to prove his mated connected to her by showing her how much he wants her, body and soul, for the rest of their lives.

Annora Channing has always felt like an outsider, both in her pack and in her own family. Her father has done nothing but treat her as a failure, and when her glaring differences to him are revealed, he literally throws her to the wolves. Thankfully, with a little help, Annora finds her way to Parker, and he makes her feel wanted from the very first moment they see each other.

Parker and Annora's story is a perfect conclusion to what has been one fantastic paranormal series. Like the previous two books, Thrown to the Wolves packs a hell of a lot of steam, suspense, and strong storytelling in a fairly short and quick read. All three of the Tate brothers come together with their mates and solidify the bond between them, forging alliances with those who were once considered enemies and fighting whoever or whatever crosses their paths and threatens to hurt those they love.

I have truly adored Rochelle Paige's Black River Pack series, and I sensed what I hope is a spin off in this last book. I'm not ready to say goodbye to everything Tate, so my hopes are that they'll make an appearance or two in a certain bear's story...hint! hint!
