Agentic AI Demystified: Master the essentials

Rate this book
A simple to follow book to get started with your Agentic AI journey. This book has been intentionally limited to the bare essentials so that you do not need to invest a lot of time to gain familiarity with the overall landscape. At the same time enough references have been provided to direct you for further self-exploration. We’ll begin with the fundamentals, obviously. We’ll walk you through how Agentic AI differs from other ways of building software. You'll learn about essential philosophies - like the ReAct and CodeAct frameworks. Then we’ll see how autonomy, control, and design choices shape different kinds of agents.
Once the foundation is laid, we’ll move into the advanced territory. This is where real-world complexity kicks in. Concepts like memory, tool calling, evaluation, and design will be examined. This is where you’ll learn to evaluate not just what your agent does, but why and how well. We’ll also cover a few case studies to make these concepts relatable.
Then the fun begins. With our concepts clear we can then start building. Woohoo! We’ll start with Amazon Bedrock Agents, offering a hyperscaler-powered approach to deploying secure, scalable agents using cloud-native tools. Then we’ll explore Langflow, a low-code platform for visual agent development, ideal for prototyping and experimentation.
Then, we’ll take on the LangGraph framework. It offers a powerful, code-first approach to building agents with memory, tools, and modular workflows. And finally, we close with a deep dive into agent communication protocols – like Anthropic’s MCP and Google’s A2A.
Each chapter combines clear explanations with practical insights. Wherever possible, we’ve included code, examples, diagrams, and exploratory questions to deepen your understanding and spark ideas. We’ve taken a conscious decision to keep the content in this book minimal. There’s so much more that we can cover on Agentic AI. But your time is a valuable resource which we believe should be spent first on just “mastering the essentials”. Nevertheless, we have added several footnotes throughout the book. These can be treated as side-quests to help understand certain concepts in more depth.
