Rate this book
- Digitally restored illustrations- Translated captions- Annotated detailsThis is an online album of vital and vibrant Easter art by Albrecht Dürer. There is little the visual art speaks for itself.According to general agreement, the German engraver and woodcut artist from Nuremberg, Albrecht Dürer, was the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance. He produced a body of artistic output that was prodigious, admired and imitated by artists of his own and succeeding generations. His images of the Easter story consist chiefly of copper engravings and woodcuts. Common for Dürer's art are background landscapes and architectural features fashioned not from the Holy Land, but from his own German surroundings, particularly the Nuremberg region.
